  2. I got suspended for having bangs a week before high school graduation. Principal was a former Marine! NO LONG HAIR at all. Sides close but ya could have bangs so I Flipped mine over but it touched the tip of my nose sooo 3 days out or until you got a haircut. I got mine trimmed a bit just to get outta there! Now the girls and short skirts? Ha! They had to get down on both knees and if their skirt didn't touch the floor they got sent home to change. He made an example out of one of the best looking chicks in my class. Yup right there in the hall during class change. Of course we ALL stopped and stared w/an OMG look! hahahaha 😎

  6. Just sittin back listening to a bit of early Paul Rodgers and "Free" from '69 with cover art by Ron Raffaelli. Everyone links him to his Hendrix work but man he was so smooth he could just shoot anything and it was stellar. Followed it up from '74 with "Free at Last." Paul Rodgers at his best in the early years imo. THEN what? "OLE-ELO" that's what! A GREAT LP and shines through these LS!

  9. At some moment in life you determined that smoking tobacco was a good enough idea to embrace......... and you got addicted. Now you learn that smoking tobacco was not as nifty as the manufacturers IMPLIED. So instead of quitting tobacco you now believe an entirely new industry telling you that vaping is good/better despite the FACT that there is no proof. Common sense will tell anyone that lungs are evolved for respiration....... not for the intake of chemistries. You got duped once by big ‘lying’ tobacco and now you have been duped a second time by the vaping industry. Did you read the fine print? Notice that when you buy any vaping related product that YOU accept all liability for any consequences caused by using those products. Hmmm, does that not give you cause for concern? Treat your lungs the way you KNOW they should be treated. Drink your liquor, eat your drugs....... the gastrointestinal system is where foodstuffs go. That is what the gastrointestinal system is evolved to do. I appreciate that you wanted to end a tobacco habit. So end it. Do not replace it with an unknown, unproven, overhyped product. You’re still an addict. Vaping is playing Russian roulette with a .38 instead of a .44.........

  16. I had my portable cassette player with me at school in 8th grade, last day and I was very into Alice Cooper, so I went to the principal and asked him of we could play "School's Out" over the school's intercom and he was like "Um NO!"" And that was just one more nail in the coffin of my respect for authority! John Kuthe...

  20. Never said that, I do sometimes when I'm trying to not smoke cigarettes. I smoke weed to not drink alcohol , or the other way around depending on the situation, which means it could be both. But to be fair I always do things in moderation, mostly because I don't like the feeling when I don't. At almost 62 why change now, I have had fun and never depended on anyone so I do what I want, you can only die once, it's a choice ya know. The smart way who knows, I don't care I just have fun and do what I want, been fun so far. But don't fear, I am going to die either way and I will not use your health care dollars or preach to you how to live, it's your choice.

  21. Life expectancy is a selling tool for the ac company. Fix it now and in the future if you have a catastrophic failure there'll be even more efficient units out there. You really don't have to replace the entire unit if repair parts are available.

  27. My daughter purchased a set of Forte I speakers for me from an estate sale in Colorado Springs. My wife saw the on the last day of her visit for (Thursday) for $450. For logistics reasons I passed. (I'm in Phoenix, Az.) However they were still available today for $250, so I had my daughter pick them up. This is unheard, and only saw one texted picture. Looks like Oak veneer and no gross gouges, so a pretTy good deal. May be used in my garage. Now I am stuck like @WillyBob was when he was waiting for his La Scalas. Gots to find a reason for a road trip. We usually fly up to visit the grandkids, but maybe around Christmas........ Wife just told me they were $225, not $250. Not @Youthman, but not bad. (Even a blind dog finds a 🍖 now and then)

  28. Depending on the efficiency and if you are satisfied with its performance, a fix seems the best choice. Is this the first thing to go wrong?

  29. Do you know which freon it uses? Pretty much any ac can be fixed. The problem you'll run into is that they'll tell you that they need to convert it to the new stuff. At that point I'd call around and see if you can find someone that will service the older freon systems.

  31. We are discussing options now. She is leaning towards a new unit with higher SEER probably $6000. I said if we can get it repaired for no more than $1500.....do that. It was 40 feet from the tree that was struck by lightning and that claim is still open but tech says no connection. It would be nice to have him write it up as lightning strike then insurance would pay.

  32. I drive Forte IIIs with a NAD / Hypex class D. Sounds just dandy. I'm not going to comment on the tube pre -> D amp other than to say it shouldn't make a difference if all the electronics are accurate; if it does, then there's some inaccurate "flavoring" going on. Might as well just use anything that has tone controls that get used.
