  2. I live in an A-10 flight pattern, two of them fly directly over my house about every three weeks. It's usually around 3pm, they do this about 8 months a year. They are so low I can see the pilot. I always look forward to it.

  3. We (my sisters and I) once ate our favorite goose. Mom didn't know which one was our favorite, she just went outside and grabbed the first one that came up to her. Poor speckles, he was too tame and gentle for his own good. Mom confessed, but it was years later, said she felt bad when we were crying because speckles was gone. We all thought he got into the front yard, and the neighbors dog had gotten him.

  5. Well, I'm listening to them in my office now, and I like them a lot. I peeked at one of the crossovers to see which one was installed (E-2) and also gandered at the drivers. K77, K53K, K22M. @MookieStl says he thinks these are 1.5's. They are very articulate and sound great. They'll sound better when I clean off spaces for them on my desks (I have about 12 feet of desk space butted end to end, and I'm kind of right in the center). I'm using a little 20WPC class-D amp with them, and had them turned up pretty good one time with no hint of distortion. So cool. Packaging was excellent, with what I believe are original styrofoam tops & bottoms. Shipping was fast, too. A heartfelt thank you to @Blackbird for offering these up - unbelievably kind!

  6. Thought for sure another one of you old fogies would know which movie I mentioned. & that Marantz makes nice sounds for a low power ss amp. It was "Reefer Madness"

  7. Here we go! Maybe... Their second LP from 1970! Just a few from Marillion and their "Brief Encounters" release in 1986! "Misplaced Childhood" was Marillion's 3rd album released in 1985. Fish o Fish NEVER drop acid because the things that happen could become an album... Now just a bit of King Crimson's "Discipline" Lp released in 1981. These guys can totally take over your afternoon if you let them... 😎 These guys have been around a while so I pulled out their first US pressing of their 1969 LP. Yes with "Yes!" They ALWAYS keep it simple! The second LP by Paul Rodgers and the boy's from 1975. "Good Lovin Gone Bad, Feel Like Makin Love and Shooting Star" hit the big time w/so many of us. #3 in both the US & UK charts, certified gold and just about everything else you could think of. I awarded it my "Eye of the Newt" award cause Newt's can kill ya! That award is sacred w/me! That LP killed a LOT of people! Pizza's here! Yay!

  9. I enjoy seeing the pilots, too. the A-10's would buzz the lake, low and slow the C-120/130[?] are a little intense when they come hilltop level. Impressive, too... BIG and fast hard to see the F-16. Can't use the sound to locate them... too loud. Might see a puff of counter measures...

  11. I've shot all kinds of stuff from F1 down to Motocross and to me it all boils down to a couple of things. Who's running the fastest and will it keep running. The other factor is weather and are your balls bigger than his? lol

  13. I think it is not just the horn . . . the cost of the driver is probably a big consideration with respect to home units. It is, IMHO, a bit discourteous to ask Roy for the reasoning of Klipsch's choices in business matters or technical matter and I'd never do it. Further, it wouldn't work! So why annoy friends? WMcD

  20. I am in love with these La Scalas and would like to found out "how they did it" finiis, veneer (oak?), grill support and all the other details. This is the look I am after for my really beat up 1976 La Scalas. Thanks to all.

  21. 1984 units with E2 xover and K53 mid but the horns or still rear mounted, make me think these were some of the final production of the H 1. Probably done in this configuration until they used up the bulk of the K700 mid horn before switching to the K701. Just a WAG (wild *** guess) based on far too little knowledge. Yes, very nice offering @Blackbird!

  24. The AirForce has given permission for me to get loud. conducting ait-to-air combat training [F-16's] over town. One reason I like the A-10's, they're quiet. The F-16's are so loud, it is hard to get "a fix" on them.

  25. Matthews did several with the same theme. He often called them La Belle or La Bella (LS + Belle) I know he did at least 4 different versions. All kinda cool! Pretty sure he used the cane grill cloth for all of them.

  26. Looks like a custom knockoff to me. Veneer would be very difficult inside the bass bin, its probably best to disassemble and veneer the panels that way or build new ones with pre-veneered plywood sheets.

  33. I don't give my real name unless I do business with someone. Nickname is "code". I attempted to try out for a local production of Jesus Christ Superstar for the role of John, but they never called me in for an audition:

  34. Ive been married almost the whole time but I guess some do. I think after a certain age women care more about being treated good and a good dose of bullshit don't hurt. I got a bud from work thats very average looking but can bag women looks and money wise way out of his league. He's half nuts and full of shit with a horseshoe haircut but that guy amazes me lol.

  35. We had a toad visit last night, too. Have to pick up the cat food... they will eat it... all of it. These aren't little toads. Size of a decent bullfrog. Slow moving. No enemies, other than the sun. And idiots who lick toads...

  36. I think they are, too! My favorite grill material. I'd buy them myself, but having 2 pairs of C's already, my wife would likely put me in rehab after an intervention. I say stereo hobby. She says stereo problem. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  42. Those were probably in the theater that I frequented in the very early 50's and the sound was outstanding. Music would be played at moderate levels before the movie started and I believe it was taped and some records. JJK

  43. Even after I added an amp I still ran things at around same volume levels (how much I turned volume to). That just isn't going to be anything to compare anything to. Your denon has enough power. Amps add dynamics and some argue better sound in some cases. Unless your dealing with speakers that need more power to perform than the avr has. In loud passages as Bill noted you should notice better control and separation. But being louder at same volume level is meaningless to compare anything in your case with what you have imo.
