Just been playing away this evening and thought I'd share a few... Just for you Dirtmudd Donovan's Second LP from 1965 I'm thinkin... Great LP! Everyone wanted an album from Joe Walsh and The James Gang in 1969 so they gave them one! "Yer Album" In the locked groove at the end of side 1 of the LP version of the album (which is normally silent on most phonograph records), the spoken phrase "Turn me over" repeats in a loop, while the locked groove at the end of side 2 repeats the phrase "Play me again". Both phrases were spoken by Walsh. Typically Joe back in the day. In other LP's he inscribed notes & jokes in the locked groove.6 points

How many of you are irritated by using smartphones, tablets etc.? I am aware that other issues come into play than just the hardware, but using my android smartphone drives me nuts. Constant delaying, pop&ups from other wendors, ads etc ... I just can not bear with it, while I only want to come to some information or such. It is too much for me and I usually end up just closing the device. It has not been so difficult before. Devices have been designed to do with purpose. For example, when I take my Nikon F2 in my hands, everything becomes second nature. Every dial has its purpose and does nothing else. No such luck with new technologies...this makes me turn into old days ...4 points

I get a new knee in two weeks. I would imagine while I am laid up, I will spend more time here. (confirmed workaholic). I hope since I will be heavily medicated, all this stuff will/might start making sense.4 points

I think you're all misguided. Who wouldn't want to spend hundreds and hundreds of dollars to have a device that directly brings "them" into your life, gives "them" direct access to your eyeballs while you're trying to do something (pop ups getting in way). Heck, some say it might even listen in on you.... if so.... who's on the other end? Though I have one for work, I smugly keep my (personal use) flip phone, even as everyone around me laughs & points their finger at me. Though I have to admit, the work phone (I-Phone) can do some amazing things, in the end, I need a phone. So as others laugh & point their fingers at me, I just smile. Content with the assurance that my flip phone simply does what I want it to do. Allow me to make a phone call. So yeah, they can take a picture of me with their Nikon F-2, it lasts longer!3 points

I tried... Doesn't work. But, you can have fun trying. Where's my coffee and pipe... maybe I can make some sense of it all. lol3 points

=== well, you’re close. The Pledge Was written by a Socialist, not a true Communist. So for you to really fly your Communist freak flag it’s more like “ the Oath of the allegiance and Peasants of the Red Army “. Have you given thought to chocolate covered ketchup? Amen and I agree with all of this. Too many get hung up on the versions. I knew many dealers back in that era and some were my accounts when I was a manufacturers rep for other lines from 2001 to 2009. I would ask them what they thought of the 3 versions of the Epic series back when they were current. Most said they could hear minimal to nothing in difference or didn't really care at all. They were just told "some dealers cried about the sound" and there were some running changes.2 points

It's not bad, been doing it for decades, used to be once a year now it's three times. Used up one spade that had a good handle, have a hand me down semicircle blade hoe that comes straight off the handle. What's bad is my discovery of rizomes and the other thingy. Been trying to kill crabgrass here for years. If I still had the original bermuda lawn I would not have to edge at all. So those rizomes are the shoots that grow sideways out of the fescue, it's how it spreads to cover well. The pile of trees at the curb from one end to the other ten feet in and six feet tall that sat there for a year after Hugo just ruined the lawn that we had before Dag-nabbit I'm the one that put the sideways growing fescue in the lawn. UNCLE!2 points

The first MNF game was a great one. I guess 40 seconds left on the clock is too much for Brees. I am a huge Brees fan. He passed Brady, and is only 17 touchdowns behind Manning for all time. Never count him out. Raiders looking good so far. OBJr was told he can't wear that 350k watch he had on yesterday during a game.2 points

so, i had a craving for a milk shake today and stopped at a Sonic Drive In. Ordered a Banana shake. Drive off. Noticed it tasted a bit unpleasant and then a chunk of chocolate comes up the straw. Now mind you, i hate chocolate almost as much as i hate the Los Angeles Dodgers. I drank a 7 Up and that didn’t wash away that horrible taste. I think i’m going to have to take a shot of either Tequila or Bourbon. I’m also tempted to grab my bottle of @oldtimer hot sauce and shake a few drops onto my tongue. For those of you that consume chocolate ... how in the world do you do it? that is some nasty stuff ... I feel like a communist or something. I think I’ll go say the Pledge of Allegiance.2 points

I was known for being temperamental at the bowling alley. Make me angry ...I would leave in the middle of a shift... that was better than me staying. Told the one manager to keep the owner out of the backend... He might have an accident....if I was on duty.2 points

Yes that's true @WillyBob, except the women fuss about them like cutting the yard on a hot day. "It's tall, I've got time... I gotta cut it." "It's 99 degrees do it in the morning" "It's wet with the dew in the morning, and I was busy" "It doesn't grow when it's cold dam*$t" My lawn mower died a couple years ago and I traded my Husky 350 for a dual blade 21" honda mower. That was a great saw, it put the oil on the chain by itself, started quickly even cut pine well if you cleaned it afterwards you could use it again!2 points

🤣 Just grass and weeds, thing is I was pretty good at keeping the string out of chain link fences but when the string was gone and it broke my stride I'd get pissed... Yep Irish in me, love taters and spirits a hundred different ways! Get pissed because the tap would not bring more string out so I'd tap harder string would appear. Next time the harder tap produced no string so tap harder..... usually a few hours did it and the dummy that forced me into it would cuss. I'd say you hired me for such and such then tell me to do this and I told you what would happen. What's the matter here? Never liked weed eaters anyhow. I was a good hard worker, 10 hrs work for 10 hrs pay... usually they'd laugh and I'd never have to touch one of those again. I have fired a few bosses in my life though. The attitude is strong in this one.2 points

With respect to the regular bacon here, the thick stuff has had the meat content to it. The regular (thin) Smithfields that I used to always buy exclusively is mostly fat now so it isn't even worth buying at all. The "them" that perveted our American food last decade think I eat five time my body weight in fried foods, soft drinks and salt and sugary crap. Dummies... us "old" people know about the food pyramid and moderation. I just couldn't do that with alcohol a while back. Heck I just had soda for the first time since mid June today. And frying chicken is too messy, I only do that for making cacciatore, it's worth it when I'm finished and I can't fry it up as good as the colonel could. And I'm pudgy now so fat foods are few and far between except for that six weeks of continuous canollis a while back! Wait that's dairy!! Eating out is too risky with hateful minions working everywhere - don't want their body fluids at all. Gotta run, fifteen feet left of 150 of edging in the front yard, I do it by hand with a straight hoe, a broom and shovel. Broken dozens of weedeaters in my life.. I warned them whoever it was each time.. "I've done that before and they always quit working before the job is finished" 🤔 It never failed to happen.2 points

It's a lazy evening here, did all the chores except the bathrooms inside and the yard outside this weekend. I'm taking a break, got a belly full of meatballs and mozzerella and man our new ac is putting out 50 something degrees from the vents ABC store was out of my Single Barrel Rx so I got an alternative I'll try in a little while. The company could not AFFORD to go to 1” side panels for the La Scala due to the increases in production costs involved…here is why: 1. The pic above showing the La Scala with the braces was taken sometime in mid-to-late 1977. Klipsch doubled the size of its production facility in 1976. The construction of the expansion of the plant began in late 1975, but was not ready to move into until the end of summer in 1976. I’m sure that the company still had a HUGE loan to pay-off on that expansion. Even though the company was producing more speakers than ever, the company HAD TO constantly borrow money to meet the payroll and production costs while awaiting the payments by the dealers for the speakers shipped. These were very short-term loans, but the interest rates were around 20% or more in those days, which SEVERELY ate into the company’s profitability. The company, like so many others in the audio industry, was struggling for survival while actually increasing production (unlike most of the competition!). This was the time frame where what became H/K International was actually buying-up other speaker companies, such as JBL and ALTEC, who were giving up the struggle to remain independent entities. The world-wide economic situation was terrible for the audio industry, in general, but Klipsch was actually GROWING under extremely difficult financial strains. Klipsch was already having to raise the prices for the speakers way too often in order to stay afloat in those days. 2. The La Scala was, at best, the THIRD largest seller in numbers, but those numbers still only amounted to a VERY small percentage of the numbers of speakers manufactured by the company, and lagged EXTREMELY FAR BEHIND the numbers of the top seller, the Heresy, and the Cornwall, which was actually not selling in numbers very much higher than the La Scala numbers at that time. It was the HERESY speakers that kept the company afloat, PERIOD! 3. Klipsch would not have had the discount thru high-volume purchases of 1” custom-laid “void-free” birch veneered plywood to justify the change for just the SIDE PANELS for ONLY the La Scala production. This was directly opposite of the company's production intent…which had always been commonality of parts between the speakers, in order to secure discounted prices thru high-volume purchases. IOW, since the amount of custom-made 1” plywood would not have been discounted for a high-volume purchase, it was simply not done. It doesn’t help things that stuff like saw blades would get dull much sooner when cutting 1” thick panels. And to top things off, we would have had to use either longer nails or screws to attach those sides during construction…and that is an expensive thing since the nail-guns being used at the plant were already shooting the longest nails they could. It also would have added to the WEIGHT of what was designed as a relatively-easily-maneuverable stage speaker. I PWK probably felt that if somebody wanted to "solve the resonance problem" after purchase, they could add their own braces to the bass bin,...but the company could not afford the losses entailed by "pricing a damned-good speaker out of existence" in order to solve a resonance issue which very few buyers at that time would even care about very much!2 points
