Henley's 2nd LP "Building The Perfect Beast from 1984. Tossed a lil Tom Petty in on the "The Boy's of Summer" track. 9. The front speaker bass issue seems to be solved. If I still have the null in my chair using the sub, I'll move the sub around, but not til tomorrow. I have enough bass now. I'll probably move the sub next tmy recliner, always wanted 2nd table by my chair. Thanks.

  13. Your memory is good. Change left in the seat of the car can leave a mark. Don't park your motorcycle on asphalt. The kickstand will sink into it. Don't wanna leave tools in the sun, either. I remember that from working in Tucson/GreenValley. We don't see 100` [very often].

  17. it is different. instead of suffocating from the humidity, we get a gentle sear from the inside out. The high humidity is tough, I won't deny that. Semi-dehydrated is normal state. I gained a couple lbs of water while I was in Indiana. Plumped up like a raisin. Feels like fall is coming. I'll be doing some fuel wood cutting this year. I kinda like doing a little. Can't cut much if I am using the Olds to haul it. I always see BorderPatrol when I go cutting. I expect to see them. I'm w/i a few miles of the border. They see the beater car, trunk open and a gas can... Ask if I need some help. Yeah, see the wood up there? Never gotten any takers. They do make me feel more comfortable. They will tell me if I might see UDIs. The travelers, I don't worry. It is the smugglers. Don't wanna be the guy with a chainsaw at a gunfight.

  22. Maz4bz, Just wanted to say thanks again for the time and effort you put in to improving your speakers and the benefit it will give anyone who looks over what you've done and decides to apply a similar tactic. I am still having those "I can't believe the sound I am hearing from my speakers!" moments! It's amazing what 2 10-ohm resistors did. Another thing I noticed: I use the chromecast audio streamer to stream Amazon music over wi-fi. The bass and treble controls on the chromecast operate on the digital level so I believe they can be considered DSP level controls. Well, before adding the resistors, I was less than happy with the changes made by adjusting those controls. The music always sounded worse. After adding the resistors, the changes I make to bass and treble through the chromecast audio dongle make meaningful changes to music lacking a bit of high-or-low-end fidelity. The music quality does not suffer, which is supposed to be what DSP is all about. Some talk of DSP as the cure to all woes, but now I think it can work either way; improvements in passive circuits can make all the difference, even to DSP.

  23. I also like the progressive rock of the Canterbury family, do you know? It is also an important musical style that has no commercial success. The musicians are very talented, but none knew the star system. The only guitarist in the successful Canterbury family is Andy Summers, when he left the family to rock: The Police. Here is my favorite band of this movement, I have LP vinyl for 40 years:

  28. have you rescanned the channels to see what happens? What device are you using to play your OTA channels? I assume it has a signal strength meter. can you use that to help dial in the strongest signal from the antenna?

  30. You have standing waves that are cancelling the bass. You need to change something about the relationship between the speakers and the shape of the room.

  33. IIRC, the K-43s are wired in parallel in the MWMs. The Thiele-Small parameters for the K-43 on the forum is showing a 6-ohm nominal input impedance. That would otherwise make the MWM input impedance 3 ohms--nominal. But the Z-magnitude plot above shows a higher minimum than the nominal calculated value from T-S parameters. I like to see Z plots, not "nominal" values, which to me have no meaning. The concept of impedance implies a function that changes with frequency--not a "nominal" singular value. If you look at the complex plane impedance of a 1980s-era Klipschorn (from the Richard Heyser Audio magazine review in 1986), it shows that "nominal" has no real meaning for the Khorn: I was encouraged to see that the MCM1900 Zin plot was much better behaved. If you've had older Khorns or La Scalas, I would be a lot more worried about amplifier stability under high loads with them (using the supplied passive crossovers). Tri-amping Khorns/La Scalas, or biamping MWMs and some other HF horn and compression driver would typically increase stability over passive network crossed loudspeakers. Chris

  38. we had a family of them. I learned how to trap and relocate them w/o getting nuked. In some ways, I'd rather a skunk than a coon. there is a story that goes with the skunks. Long to short, I moved them because of rabies incidence in the area. Our cats played with them. We have a country vet... I still don't think he would go for giving skunks rabies vaccinations.

  43. This group should've, could've been BIG. Overproduced maybe in this release, their earlier work was not. Theatrical hard rock? maybe. Opera singer that couldn't cut it on Broadway still sings better than 99 out of a hundred of us regular folks.
