  5. Seen two versions of that movie, both have had good musicians performing in it Paul. Things have been busy here for me this week but winding down tonight with some dreamy free flowing Pink Floyd. Tried getting a replacement a while back but the copy I got had a bad invisible scratch that was almost an entire minute into "Echos" This copy is good to go!

  14. You have some pretty good taste in music. If you'd like some blues with a rock feel, you might try Rory Gallagher. His audiences seem to love him. Islander: When I joined the forum, I thought I knew a lot about audio, but I've learned so much here that it amazes me, and continues to amaze me. Many opinions are expressed here, but there seems to be a near-consensus that a properly set up La Scala (I or II), with a good sub or subs, sounds even better than a Klipschorn. That combo can be the best-sounding Klipsch domestic (not Pro) speaker setup of the whole range. You may already be on the green side of the fence,

  15. Tonight was Sushi. Pretty good too. Grabbed a $150 bottle of Tequila while i was out ... came highly recommended and have been meaning to try it, so i figured no time like the present -- give it a whirl and see if it lives up to the hype. I think i’ll celebrate the final saturday of it being light outside at five o’clock (for the next several months at least). I believe we change the clocks next weekend. boo!

Another "bye" week next week then we grind it all out w/Penn State coming in. EVERYone wants a piece of the Buckeyes it seems. Right haters? I did lol today when I heard the Notre Dame was going into "The Vally of the Wolves" tonight. Harb's said he's not leaving and sent a letter to the parents of the recruits saying so. Naturally the rumor started in Ohio they said! We LOVE him @ ❌ichigan why would we want him gone? 😂

  22. if you're wondering how David Gilmour got those bird sounds in Echoes, it was kind of an accident. He got a new effects pedal, and unintentionally hooked it up backwards, going from his guitar to the Out sockets, and from the In sockets to his amplifier. When he played with it like that, he liked what he heard, and he included it in the song. Most listeners, including me, thought it sounded great, along with the rest of the song. Echoes is one of my favourite Pink Floyd songs.

  25. For sale, two ElectroVoice Wolverine ST12 speakers. Both have had the capacitor replaced with Dayton 3uF polypropylenes. Both are fully functional and have DCRs of 7.8 and 8.1 ohms. One has a potentiometer to adjust the tweeter level and the other has a switch. I made a youtube video with them hooked up to my tube amp/turntable with no cabinets. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H4zaT_9LoUU I have cabinets for them but they are too large and heavy to ship, so I am selling the drivers only. For local pickup the buyer can take the cabinets also. They are located in central Alabama. I have more pix I can send. $200 shipped in the continental USA, price is firm. PayPal only.

  32. You might change your mind once you hear the Cornwall IV. When I listened to it at Chief Boneheads Class I did not expect how significant the audible improvements are on so many levels as well as the new Heresy IV are as well. I honestly am amazed at how much Roy has reduced the box coloration that all previous models had when compared to fully horn loaded models like the La Scalas, Belles or Klipschorns. Whether a loudspeaker is 2-way or 3-way doesn’t really matter in the end but instead what the total loudspeaker brings to sound reproduction and IMHO the new Cornwall IV is going to kick-*** at twice it’s price point... 😄 miketn

  35. I answered the post yesterday, 45 mins after it went up. Already pending lol. I don't know why it was up for so long afterward. Good deal for someone. The woofers are really nice, tweets okay, but not really the best two-way speaker. Definitely worth it for the Marantz thrown in. Oh well! Tweets might be blown anyways.

  37. Michigan is doing a brilliant job vs ND of adapting their game plan to the weather, almost all rush plays. It's a monsoon in the Big House and the Woverines lead 17-zip in the second quarter.

  42. Yes, I do have excellent sources - listening to mostly Redbook but some hi res files purchased either through Qobuz or HD Tracks... content is where it all starts and ultimately what it's all about. My favorite & most played albums are things like Chick Corea Trio's Trilogy recordings, Tears for Fears' Seeds of Love, Pink Floyd's DSOTM, lots of Pat Metheny, Rick Rubin's work with Tom Petty & Johnny Cash, Steven Wilson, etc... it goes on and on, but honestly even with poorly produced Redbook files the Chord stack still makes them sound incredibly refined and transparent (80s pop. etc). Thanks - I run dual SVS SB2000 subs, which is an upgrade over the single JL Audio e112 I was running. The SB2000s have a 12dB low pass rolloff slope and I've had them set at 70Hz since doing a lot of experimenting by ear. One thing I noticed with higher settings was male bass vocals noticeably bleeding over into the subwoofer at much higher than 70Hz. I used Club for Five's cover of Brothers In Arms to set optimally to avoid the lead bass vocal from bleeding over and got down to about 70Hz until it wasn't an issue. This afternoon I am experimenting a bit more per your suggestion - set at 100Hz, there is a good bump/improvement in that upper bass and I'm not hearing any separation - but I haven't listened to Club for Five yet (ha!) Thanks - I can experiment with this via Roon's DSP parametric EQ filters. I did experiment based on an earlier suggestion on bumping a bit up at 400Hz but I didn't hear any improvement. I'll run some tracks with a notch at 148Hz and see how it sounds. All in all this has been a really enlightening thread, one that - as I've mentioned - has given me a little more appreciation for my current system and the capabilities of the La Scala IIs. It does seem like upgrades at this point would be at considerable expense for potentially not much of an "upgrade" from what I love about these speakers right now. It's a cliche but these kind of discussions can make you "really appreciate what you have" versus the greener grass we always seem to be chasing in this hobby.

  47. Diz, I actually thought Sparty would play a bit better than they did against OSU. They didn't. You're right on the Wisconsin game in two weeks. Next Friday it's NW then Wisconsin the following Saturday. ANYthing can happen from here on out. Gonna be a grind for OSU from here on out. JL, Some of the OSU fans are posting a meme of Justin Fields standing w/the caption: UGA Fans You Miss Me Yet? Kinda funny but I'm sure he's not discussing it. Was kinda nice to see them go down though. Bama's STILL the real deal as is Clemson! Who knows???
