  1. Just got to thinking about this great community (in particular the Home Theater thread) and thought I would stop in and say hi as this community has always been a HUGE blessing to me in my home theater journey over the past 13 years. The last 2 years has been quite the whirlwind. I used to be in the Klipsch forums every evening after work, sharing, answering questions, writing articles / reviews of my Klipsch experiences here in the forums and sharing literally thousands of photos of Klipsch photos that I have taken over the years. I began making more videos on Youtube and found it allowed me to use my creativity in a way I could not in written text. I would have never guessed in 2 years the channel would grow from 90 subscribers to currently 39,000 subscribers. I still have a passion for Klipsch and is evident by the fact that out of the 5.6 Million views on my channel, 2.9 Million of those views are from the 71 Klipsch videos I have made over the past 2 years. I do not say that to brag, but to provide some explanation as to the reason for my absence from this community. Each video takes me between 5-8hrs from start to finish. I still have a full-time job, a home business in website development and a family of 6 so my life right now is ridiculously busy. All is well though. I'm still rocking my 1980 LaScala Trio, (4) RS62II and (4) CDT-5800-C-II for Atmos in my theater room and the RF7 III for my 2ch setup in the living room. Hope everyone here is doing well. I'll try to stop by on ocassion when I can. Michael

  2. I hate to interrupt a good "real or fake" discussion, but just thought I would pop in and say hi! My normal boring life was a little more interesting last week as I got to see Aerosmith in concert while in Vegas. I was at a convention and one of my suppliers gave us a couple tickets so I figured "what the hell". It was excellent. Way better than I had anticipated. They had a couple sound issues but when it was right, it was very nice. They put on a very good show.

  4. Thanks K5SS. I bought used gear for many, many years. So much gear, many here referred to them as Youthman Deals. If it's something you want to do, go for it! I has been a blast, I've met soooo many people, had many people over for demos. Even had one guy come over to buy a friend's Klipsch surrounds, ended up demoing my RF7 III and before he left my home, we were on the phone with a Klipsch dealer ordering them. LOL.

I’m certain the LF will appreciate the time you spend making sure both homes are decorated in good taste - you dog you —

  15. If the engine and transaxle are intact, they probably won't total it. It's too new. If you keep it ask them for depreciated value.. That should be monies above and beyond the price of the repair. Your carfax will show an accident which will devalue the vehicle come trade in or sale time. You need to get that value now on this claim because once you settle this claim and the check is cashed, they won't open it back up again.

  16. CBD farms in KY. Looks good, smells good. It's a dud from a recreational point. There were some patches of local that were worth burning. RaspberryRd or something like that. And NappaneeNasty.Watch out for the farmers. They guard their patches. My shorthair pointer made a great believable lie

  18. Holy cats!!! I got to the grocery. Forgot half of what I wanted. Boy drank half a pot of my coffee. That was my OK, I'm awake... now to think, portion. Didn't fall in lust with any of the old gals... Had a pleasant time anyway. I watch tractor pulling. on the show yesterday was an AgriKing tractor named Vi-Agri King. Below the name, something about stiff competition. Truth insurance adjuster is supposed to come by tomorrow for a look/see at the car. Grill and bumper, for sure. Then we get to decide whether to take it to the shop of our choice or one associated with the insurance co. The shop we like is in GreenValley. They do good work AND I can get a ride from the shop and back when the car is done. The insurance company's... their shop is in Tucson. Well known automotive group. I don't think they will give me to and from... My ill friend... She survived surgery for her bowel obstruction. the cancer.... Unfortunately, it looks as if I will be helping her thru "the transition". Did I tell y'all how much I dislike my job sometimes. We are hoping for a miraculous remission. Otherwise, the holidays may not be so fun this year.

  22. I would be inclined to close my PayPal account over something like this. With a note to whoever pretends to care at that “bank”. If you still need PayPal, open a new one with a different email. And as mentioned, change your password on the email used for this transaction. My philosophy for online buying and selling is: ”Any red flags on the play result in instant disqualification!” Glad to hear you didn’t get taken!

  24. As a seller with PayPal, you get no protection if you send items to a different address than PayPal shows. So if he pays and you ship to a different address, he tells PayPal he did not get the item, they request proof of shipment from you and when they see a different address, he gets an automatic refund from your PayPal account. I'd immediately refund the payment through PayPal and tell him the deal is off. Send the gift card back if he sends it. Good luck.

  25. Unfortunately you are going to have to spend some time on the phone sorting this out. Sending the product to a different address is one issue. The gift card is a HUGE red flag.

  28. Michael, I slipped in here just before you hit that revolving door and, even though I'm not much into home theater, I found your videos very interesting. I'm sure you are a blessing to those that are INTO home theater. In fact they kinda made me want to jump into it but nah too darn old. Seems as though things are going well for you. I honestly wondered where you went! Hang tough and never take a prisoner! By the way I'm sure your toaster is in the mail! 😂

  39. Dear all, I good friend has built an amazing home theatre, actually its the best I've ever experienced. It has an all Klipsch front end - he was sold after hearing my KG-5.5's. , in ceiling speakers for side and surround and five subwoofers. Pioneer receiver, Behringer DCX-2496 for sub optimisation and a pair of Crown XLS... Two tapped horns for freight train levels of impact... The weakest link however is the centre channel. This is nothing new of course, others have written about this elsewhere. Nothing against the quality of his nice RP-250C. When sitting on axis, i.e. right in front of the RP-250C the vocals are crystal clear. However when on his outboard seats, I personally find dialogue intelligibility goes off a cliff. I took the opportunity over the weekend to quantify the off axis performance of his front stage, including the matching RP-160M's to see what the measurements might say about why dialogue is so difficult to catch when not in the two money seats. Using Omnimic I have a stand I've made to do measurements of bookshelf sized speakers. This sits on top a turntable with 10 degree markings for accurate off axis measurements.... The first thing we did was measure the impedance of the RP-250C. We use this to set the measurement level to approximate 1watt at 1 meter. The enclosure has a sticker on the back that says 8ohms, I'm thinking Klipsch made a typo here?!!!…. The following measurements are all taken in room, at 1 meter, with 5ms gating at 2 volts with no smoothing. First here is the complete 0 - 90 degree horizontal measurements.... Here is just the 0 - 40 degrees to help clarify the problem.... What we see here is that the RP-250C is only able to perform well in the critical 1-2khz region either on axis (0 degrees) or out to 10 degrees off axis. Not much then. Once 20 - 40 degrees off axis we can see here the suck out that is occurring. If we take this same set of measurements and create a Dr Geddes style polar map we can see more clearly the problem. First here is an ideal polar map lifted from Dr Geddes white paper on controlled directivity... Here is the RP-250C. I've added in the lines to show the extent or lack there of the sweet spot from 2khz all the way down to around 500hz.... What happens when we measure the vertical off axis response.... The irony of the poor horizontal performance is that the RP-250C has just about the best vertical off axis performance I've ever seen outside of a synergy horn.... Polar is stunning, I'd say solid performance across the board out to 40 degrees off axis.... Certainly the RP-250C looks better than the RP-160M when measured in the horizontal, which itself is no slouch, even if it is a bit missing from 1 - 2khz itself and just a bit hot above 10khz.... Traditional horizontal for the 160C... And another impedance typo? 160C also rated as 8ohms!??? 😉 So the moral of the story here is that a traditional centre speaker with the horizontally laid out drivers is a really poor option for precisely its intended purpose - delivering crystal clear dialogue to all viewers. Ideally a center channel speaker is a perfect match of your left and right, or at least a speaker with vertically arranged drivers. Three RP-160C across the front standing on end, certainly not lying flat as intended, would make an outstanding front LCR stage, provided you could keep your ears right in the sweet spot vertically! Cheers

  41. Yeah, every time I check shipping for anything over 10 pounds now it seems (that isn't USPS flat rate), it's stupid expensive. If they don't sell for $150 locally, I may just keep them. Just figured perhaps someone else local could use a little discount.

  43. I vote for the active route. I think the Xilica is logical and intuitive to use. The layout just make sense. Getting the system to perform better than a passive version if willing to learn how to use REW is within reach for most people. I would like to highlight the fact that a lot of people in this hobby use a lot of time tweaking anyway. With a passive version your stuck with changing amps and cables which don't add a lot of difference. With a active version the difference can be from subtle to a different setup, it does not cost anything, it is reversible and you learn a lot of what really matters to improve the sound. I am using the K-402 with Radian 950BePB in a two way by the way.
