  1. Its not entirely finished yet and is very much dual purpose and with that in mind I had to build it around the restrictions I had. It's 14X21 with 8 foot drop ceiling. Living on the frozen planet of Hoth (A.K.A. Canada) we typically only use this for Movies in the winter and the sun sets about 5pm so not having window coverings is not an issue. Equipment Avr Denon 4400 Bluray Panasonic ub400 ac Infinity s8 cooling unit apple tv 4K for streaming technics sl 1300 Optoma UHD51alv 120" silverticket screen Klipsch RP-8000 RP-450c RP-250s R-12sw x 2 CDT-5650 Cii x 4 I will eventually get a amp to power the front stage as the Denon has to work to push all 9 speakers when I decide to crank up a movie. Can a Mod please move this to the Show your Theater room Thread I posted in the wrong spot sorry.

  2. waiting for the fog to clear. yeah yeah The fog between the ears is a permanent fixture. We strive toward that we're talking weather now, guys had to scrape frost off the windshield, too My favorite ... wet and cold We're trying to figure out where our Christmas tree is going to go. Hanging from the ceiling over a LS is a possibility. This room is stupid. 25 X 12. Doorways in the middle of both short walls and one in the middle of the long wall, opposite the fireplace.. We have a 2 rooms 25 X 8, also. Told the wife that this place would make a good art gallery.

  7. Rather oddly of all places, Chandler has pretty decent semiconductor setup and MicroChip is a larger firm (fabs & support folks), with Intel the biggest (fabs & support folks). I spent 10 years at Intel and now with a German semiconductor firm Infineon - has supporting folks here (no MFG) where pretty much everyone is an alumni from Intel, Motorola, NXP, ONSemi, Amkor, and others. I developed an allergy to snow and enjoy Phoenix area, folks say it gets hot here in summer but (a) it's a dry heat and (b) you don't have to shovel sunshine

  8. I've got a lady that comes in and cleans whenever I call her. So she mops the kitchen and bathroom and vaccums the stairs and entryway. Everything else is oak hardwood so I've been nosin the past couple months and almost jumped on a Roomba. Couple days ago I saw my fav on line auctioneer had one in an estate sale. A Mint, which only rates a 3.5 on Amazon and sells for 280. Price was right too. Auction went down last nite and I picked it up for $4. Stopped on the way home today and picked it up. Looks good to me and I don't think it's been used much. You use Swiffer's dust and mop pads with it. Things going to have a field day in here. hahaha Guess we'll see what we shall see!

  11. Wife was [note past tense] considering hanging some Christmas decorations. Kinda changed her mind when the kittens are pulling the drain stopper out the sink. Everything will turn into cat toy. they found the kid's mini candy canes. You'd thought they had some kind of treasure. The cellophane . Think I'm gonna hang the Christmas "tree" from the ceiling to keep them from knocking it over climbing it.

  13. Just a thought I have in response to that is the driver, box volume (real or apparent), and passive radiator (or port?) are a system as designed (not merely thrown together haphazardly), and I'd be reluctant to modify any (just) one of those parameters on whim. I'd have to know what data I have and what data I'd want to end up with (that's different, and why) to drive any changes.

  17. That is a beaut. The VRD's, picked them up in Ft Wayne IN but got the lead from a AK member. They are about 4 years old. I am the third owner. Just seems right to mate them with the NBS pre.

  23. The reason a good mechanical connection should be made before soldering is to get the two materials in intimate contact so it is much easier to form the inter metallic bond. For example in SMT assemblies there is no mechanical connection, if you pick up, tilt or wiggle the boards stuffed with components before soldering the components will fall off the board.

  24. I don't need a phono input so I will see if I can locate an Integra at my price point... I didn't remember seeing one at accessories4less. I went back and saw your link to: $299 - INTEGRA DRX-2.1 7.2-Ch x 80 Watts A/V Receiver It may be the leader with just a few holes to go... Thanks!

  25. Those are fine for stage. For HT and music, I strongly recommend the JBL research of having 4 identical subs in wall centers as the ultimate setup. Todd Welti did his homework, that's for sure. multsubs.pdf

  26. 1/3 + 2/3 is about the limit of any sort of effectiveness, I'd think. When talk of "bypassing" one cap with another for some effect, when the other is a small-fractional value, I declare that wasting money and pissing in the wind. I've wasted some time looking over that web page and as I recall, he mentions such small-fractional-value "bypass" stuff. If so, he's at least somewhat deluded...

  27. Watched a couple of you tube video's. Seems the Neato is pretty popular, but needs to be cleaned regularly. Read about the virtual wall. Guess I'll give it a try. Thanks guys. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk

  28. I owned RF-82II's (a forerunner of the RP-8000F) for a while, but have never heard any version of the RF-7. But for merely 1.5 times the price, I would take the RF-7 II without question, just based on published reviews, opinions and specs, not to mention real wood veneer instead of vinyl. A no brainer, at least for me.

  29. Interesting, will researchers this one, but we have a hand operated Miele thats pretty darn good, but nothing beats a good mopping with fabuloso. Wife gets after it about every 2 or 3 months. in all honesty the BotVac is for use between routine moppings. House is mostly tile with some wood floors. Gotta a couple wiener dogs and a stuck-up cat inside. My biggest concern is the robot falling off the edge along the sunken living room. It's a 3ft drop, but I would think they got that figured out. CNET rated the neato pretty high, and the mapping isnt shared. Not that I really care. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk

  30. Unless you've got an anechoic chamber standing by for your tests, the solution I've found is to mark the location of the microphone stand, and the position of the microphone on the stand is not moved (i.e., the microphone and stand in my service stays assembled and ready to use off out of the way in-room at ear height), setting up to place the microphone well within an inch of where I had it in prior measurements on prior occasions. I have done this many times successfully. This may be due to the HF drivers/horns that you own. I have no issues if I get within the inch tolerance that I mentioned above, but the K-402 horns have very consistent coverage and well behaved time-based behavior by comparison. Yes, because you can verify nothing really changed in the spectrogram plot. Yes. The scale is dBSPL (i.e., no correction for "A" or "C" weightings). Not a spike, but rather a spire with concave sides, because the period of the sound waves is increasing logarithmically as you traverse downward on the spectrogram plot toward lower frequencies. 35. Gotta chime in on this one - a UMR '86 graduate and not often you see Rolla MO come up. I was in a fraternity (Theta Xi) and my first roommate had Klipsch HIPs in our room (ahem), with a Kenwood amp (I think a KA-8100) - rock & roll!! Then another brother contributed to KMNR and he had a pair of LaScala's in his room used for mobile gigs. So, long story short - that is where my Klipsch addiction started. Fond memories of that place, we studied hard & partied hard!!
