  1. I still have my Denon AVR-X4100, Klipsch Quarter, Academy (oiled oak) and RS-25's with an Emotiva Ultra 12 in my house...but due to say domestic situations I have my own place now. Denon AVR-X3500H, Klipsch Chorus II and Academy (black). LG UBK90 for Bluray. Vizio PQ65-F1 for LCD. Xfinity X1 for everything else. Viewing distance = 8.5-9'

  2. Hi Dian, I would not worry too much about blown woofers. All my woofers (Cornwall's, Heresy's, CF-3's, etc) are all much older than those in the KLF series and they still work flawless And, as per @MechEngVic, replacements are available. Cheers, Emile

  3. So plans got changed, some LPs will be here Saturday when the previously scheduled trip happens. Doesn't sound like it will even be a whole crate, but I'm going to ask if he's just planning on putting a stack in the front seat just to put a crate upright open to the back and put the seat belt on it! The spinner got here from Baton Rouge this morn, just need the tub and the tergikleen to arrive!

  4. I believe the eico amps had pretty decent outpt tranformers, but it wil cost a fair amount to have it gone through to rebuild (needed considering its age and all). I would contact Craig at nosvalves.com just to get a ballpark idea. That would work nicely on your LS,

  5. The woofers for the KLF10, 20 , and 30 are all different. And yes, they are hard to come by. I've heard Klipsch will sell you replacement parts but I'm not sure if they still carry these woofers. Ebay has them for sale every once in a while. The KLF-30 has a woofer upgrade that fits perfectly and gives a big improvement in sound. https://www.usspeaker.com/ciare-hw321-1.htm It's possible the 10" version of the same woofer may work for the 20 and 10, but no one has tried it yet. My KLF-10's are still going strong. I am at least the third owner, and they are are at least 19 years old (KLF-10 production ended in 2001), and I play them loud and long.

  6. He was happy. I am happy, so all good for both of us. I had them listed for $900, dropped to $800, I accepted $700. I learned a lot from you guys about the Epic series, hopefully you learned a little from me. Good news is, I got some cash to find another score.

  7. A little contradictory. The right of free speech is also constitutional. The country was founded upon the bedrock of dissent. It can get complicated, but challenging one's credentials as a patriot crosses a fine line. My family is full of those who served, some career. No one questions the patriotism of any of us.

  8. SOLD: Located near Toledo, Ohio in Perrysburg. Pick-up only, but I'm willing to drive an hour or so to meet a forum member. Willing to trade forum members for gear of similar value. I bought these from a gentleman in Columbus, Ohio, who advertised them on this forum. They have the short ports and multi-colored internal wiring. Walnut veneer and consecutive serial numbers. I would grade the cabinets as "good" condition. Various small condition flaws, but they present quite handsomely. One lower corner has some melamine lifting and a small lift on the top edge of one speaker. A larger scratch on top of one speaker was repaired by the original owner using some matching stain. Original spikes and grills. All drivers work perfectly. No modifications.

  12. Why 4.7k ? Shouldn't you be going for something bolder, like 99000 megs (white/white/white/gold). For those who want to play with values, check this out: http://www.dannyg.com/examples/res2/resistor.htm

  13. Hi guys, I am new here, but I try to read a lot. So I am a big KLF fan, but I am not a technical person, but just try to be more familiar with the stereo systems. I would like to know more comments about the KLFs woofers. What is the normal life of the woofers, how long does woofer last? I know it depends, but… They are not produced anymore and it is very, very hard to find used on the market. Everything could be fixed as crossover, tweeter replacement, cabinet issue, but what about if the woofer is blown?! Thanks for all comments, Dian

  17. My thoughts first are, if you are sentimental about them.... then (me personally) I'd keep them and figure out how to make it work or just live with the deficiency that may or may not arise. They'll never mean as much to the next buyer compared to your (possible) sentimental attachment. Is this your retirement home? Any chances of you moving in 5-30 years to a different home? If so, then I'd 100% keep them for the end game. Then evaluate the situation however, the nice thing about that is you can make a sufficient room for them part of your criteria for hunting down a home.

  18. I would think most ss equipment would have a low enough output z, but you would really have trouble with a lot of tube gear. Given your setup, the worst case for you would be the bass roll off.

  19. Spec says input impedance is 8k ohms or greater over audio bandwidth. I would think your Yamaha AVR should drive this no problem. If you try to drive more than one input with one output you might start to have drive issues. @Ron E You are driving these from the Xilica? Should be no problem driving from the Xilica either.

  21. I had put most of it back together before I read this.... (bottom bolted on) and kicked myself for not going the last bit to be sure. Though I don't think this became their primary residence, I've got to think they vacationed here a couple times. So, any thoughts on what to clean it with? I've already taken a shop-vac to it and gotten the lose stuff & rubbed some stuff to loosen it. I suppose I could leave it well enough alone.... (wife won't like the speaker torn apart when she gets home) What might I try to clean this with?? Since I've gone this far, I'll rotate the driver when I put it back. First time this has been taken out of its home since it was installed at the factory in 1979.

  23. I will be there Thursday too and do we have access to the rental building Thursday and if so what hours are we able to get in? It would be nice to set up the day before to allow for good use of the time when all are there. Maybe I will get there Wednesday evening to be ready to go Thursday morning. I will be available to help you in any case Chris.

  24. I think that there is a fallacy of relevance buried somewhere in there somewhere. I don't think that any video of the loudspeaker playing is in any way a valid way to do it...not ever. There are so many issues with that that it would probably be discourteous to start enumerating them. Even listening through Jubs at home that have been carefully dialed in, I can't tell how good any loudspeakers are from a YouTube video shot from a smartphone, but I can tell how bad things seem to be. The problem is, I can't tell where the problem might lie--in the room, the loudspeakers, the recording device, the music selection(s), the person doing the recording, or the fact that the lossy audio format (in stereo only) scrambles the audio fidelity in ways that you can't tell what you're listening to. Certainly nothing in the recording chain is anything like "hi-fi". I have to say that I'm amazed that anyone would even think that a YouTube video has any use in the hi-fi sound quality vetting business--because it can't. Reading normal person's reviews is probably the only real substitute if you can't find a real pair to listen to. I know that Jubilee owners didn't listen to Jubilees on YouTube before buying. If anything these buyers listened to a real pair via networking on the forum or within Klipsch (Roy, et al.). Even then, I have to say that if they are not set up well and the owner doesn't play very good selections, you still may have a huge problem truly understanding what you're listening to and what they can actually do. I know that my Jubs were not set up very well for perhaps six months or even longer before I started to find ways to significantly improve the sound quality in-room (without external help except for DSP crossover settings). That's what the loss of the brick-and-mortar storefronts has done: taken away vetted installs of manufacturer's loudspeakers where good comparisons can be made. That alone is a good reason why so many audiophiles lament the current state of affairs for younger folks. All the real marketing is by word of mouth. Chris

  31. Most sound reinforcement speaker systems are tested outdoors at 10 meters with a 10 watt input signal. This is exactly equal to 1 watt at 1 meter. Loudspeakers tested in a chamber could be at I meter or longer, with input power adjusted so that results are equivalent to the 1 watt at 1 meter spec.

  35. I 1st was introduced to Klipsch in the 70’s. It has always amazed me that Klipsch deploys such an underwhelming marketing scheme. The general buying public was bowled over with heavily advertised Bose junk product and so much $ has been wasted on truly cheap and lousy sound. Klipsch could have dominated this market and kept the sustained caliber of this industry at a much higher standard. Instead the public got duped by charlatanesque speakers and now lives with a distorted benchmark for quality sound reproduction. Every theatre that uses Klipsch product should feature some audience notification of its application. Get your Cornwall’s, flaunt them, enjoy them and do what Klipsch does not do - educate your social circle about quality sound reproduction.

  37. I wish I could share my experience of sharing with my neighbor the beautiful experience of Klipsch after years of crappy speakers! I get into talking about Klipsch, some say rather animated! The neighbor started to laugh and said he didn’t have a clue what I was talking about! I was speechless! I found something he didn’t know more about! Neighbor has a ‘ER’ complex. Better, faster, cheaper, 🤮
