  2. I do both. Save 30 to the device and from time to time archive all 30 off to the PC. You never know when you are going to need to go back in time 2 years and make you speakers sound terrible

  4. Don't even think of the using the front panel. Forget it is even a possibility. Just hook up a PC wired or over your network, search online for the tutorial video and you will be good to go. If I had one complaint about Xilica is that their software if for sure designed by engineers not software developers. Not very intuitive but gets the job done. If you liked Windows 3.1 you will love it.

  7. I did pure listening tests, of course very subjective, and the stack flush with the edge (Red line) sounded the best. This was last week sometime and have been listening that way since. The other position I listened to, was the 6" back with the wings flush with the BB front. I think what is needed now is a test with wings extended to say 12" and then 18". That may really make a difference. I'll see what I can drum up in the next few days.

  9. Are those beans dried 'naturally" like just in the sun without being washed? That's close to being the honey process where the shell is taken off but that's it, the mucilage is left on (like the brittle thin stuff around a roasted peanut). That is terrific when started with good beans, got a 6 oz sample put in my last order of coffee and been on it for the last four days... will end tomorrow drat!

  10. You guys would laugh at me being cold when I took the trash out at 6:30 this morning. It's 60F in the house at nighttime and I went outside in my sweatpants and a tshirt when it was 20F. I've got to tell you that I'm still pretty quick!

  11. Ha - I’m not sure if this was meant to be a joke, but I just spoke to them and they said they were behind because “there were a shit-load of orders from Klipsch users” - way more than their normal operations Chris and Rudy belong on their payroll. The two of them made ESS quite a bit of money in short order. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  12. @codewritinfool did the same thing to a pair of LS a few years back, only he was building splits. Good luck with your project. I don't have the guts to cut the top off a pair of LS! Apparently you and Code do!

  17. I’ve been running a Yamaha RX-A2060 since 2016 with good results. I chose it over the 3060 because the extra 10 watts per channel (150 versus 140) and the 1 step better DAC chip wasn’t worth the extra $600 CAD, at least to me. Since my main speakers are powered by external Yamaha power amps, the receiver powers only the surround and front centre speakers when in 5.1, plus the rear centre when listening in 6.1. It has no trouble keeping up with the 1000 watt per channel Main Left and Right speakers, after settings the levels to match, obviously. The sound quality of the 2060 is very good, as confirmed by several magazine and online reviews (haven’t time to find the links now), and it has more than enough features for me, like Pre Out sockets to allow the use of external power amps, plus a Phono input. Internet Radio and Airplay are features I use nearly every day. The free Yamaha control apps, AV Controller and MusicCast Controller, are really handy, so you don’t have to turn on the TV to browse or change Net Radio stations or change other settings. They allow you to do nearly anything you could do on the TV screen, but it’s easier with a tablet than with a small phone screen, of course. The phone runs on Android, while the tablet is an iPad, running iOS. Overall, I’m very happy with it, but to be honest, I’ve been a Yamaha fanboy ever since I bought a Yamaha CR-600 stereo receiver in 1974.

  18. Well I was doing a sound check today as Claude is going to appear on my doorstep Tuesday. I had some bubble wrap next to the mouth of one of the bass bins and it was flapping around like those deep bass hair flying videos on Youtube. Really gratifying to see and my wife mentioned things were vibrating in the house.

  19. Well, I'll have to play the keepers! Janis huh? She covered the airwaves here a decade later in `79 Now this gals voice grabbed me when I heard them on tv doing spring break or something in the rain at the beach. Not saying there is any comparison except in female and the emotions expressed!

  23. Hey Keith, I noticed you have not received any input on your question in 20 hours now. I notice because I posted some questions of my own about the same time and I haven't received any input either. So I'll at least give you my 2 cents worth. Obviously you are looking for Klipsch equipment so that already makes your decision a lot easier. If I were in your shoes my primary concern would be to choose a center and surrounds that could handle a similar amount of power as my fronts. They are all going to be feeding from the same trough, so to speak, so if your front speakers are rated to handle 150 watts RMS, then I would choose a center and surrounds that could handle at least that much. I don't think it matters much if the model numbers aren't the same as the ones you had before. At least it wouldn't to me. Secondarily to that would be the consideration of ascetics, which is more of a personal thing. How important it is to you for the center channel (in particular because of the close proximity to your front speakers), to "match" the fronts. If minor trim differences don't bother you then you have more options that way. Again, just my 2 cents. In the end you should choose what you think works for you, don't go simply by what someone else tells you, cause a lot of the time they don't know any more than you do. Nothing wrong for gathering input however, sometimes it can trigger a thought you might not have otherwise had. Let me know what you finally choose. Red's Driver

  26. Buying an amp, kit or otherwise, there are a few questions. What speakers are you going to drive with it? What is there efficiency rating? This will determine how much power you need. High efficiency speakers only need a few watts, so SET amps with tubes like 2A3, 300B, 45, etc are fine. If you need more power, you are looking at push pull configurations with EL34, KT88, 6550, 6L6, etc. Then there are point to point kits for people who don't know electronics, like Bottlehead. There are PCB based kits that are more just solder the parts on the boards. There are point to point kits that require you can read a schematic and know a base level of electronics. No true one size fits all. You decide your wants, needs and skill level.

  27. Awesome project, I have a thread around here on some mods that I made to mine. Fortunately someone had previous cut the top off for me. All I had to do was build the top cabinet that is now fitting with the K510. One thing I did that is also done on splits, is router out he hold behind the doghouse where you can add 5 way binding post. This will allow for use of banana plugs and hide the connections, which is all personal preference. Good luck on your project and keep the pictures coming. Here is a couple of links for when I did mine

  29. I'll make incremental progress evenings this week and see if I can get some measurements to you this weekend Chris since I'm still pretty remedial when it comes to interpreting/presenting them. Current plan is to tie the current triple hinged wings together with top, bottom and side plate assembly with threaded rod similar to Rudy's but with a hinged single back wing set in addition sitting on one of my Khorn bass bins.

  33. Hi all! I just stumbled upon this forum whilst doing some research on Paul. I, and some other Arkansas students, are currently in pre-production of a Klipsch documentary – covering the man himself and his legacy. I myself unfortunately don't have Klipsch of my own, but after finding such a lively community here, I felt it would be great to introduce ourselves. We're definitely looking forward to the Pilgrimage in March. The dates work out really nicely for us. I'm also hoping to reach out to an Arkansas native that can help us with the opening scene, but that's neither here nor there. I just wanted to say what's up. Best, Corey

  39. Outstanding, Sir! The resources here are vast. Jim Hunter can quote him word for word having working directly for him about 3 decades, plus has some 25k or more documents in his care by PWK. We look forward to meeting you...and you should introduce yourselves to the Heritage line of speakers. Only then will you understand his genius and our devotion. Regards, Dave

  40. While the cables look really nice, and I'm sure they also conduct electricity at least as well as needed, I'm still stuck on the use of the contact product on the drivers and crossover. How so and why? And what was the result, specifically?

  44. I wish I could share my experience of sharing with my neighbor the beautiful experience of Klipsch after years of crappy speakers! I get into talking about Klipsch, some say rather animated! The neighbor started to laugh and said he didn’t have a clue what I was talking about! I was speechless! I found something he didn’t know more about! Neighbor has a ‘ER’ complex. Better, faster, cheaper, 🤮

  45. I just recently came across a pair of 1980 Industrial La Scalas with the fiberglass cabinents and aluminium trim. Hooked them up to my vintage Sansui G-7500 rated at 90 watts . One quarter volume will run you out of my 40ft x 45 ft living room with a 20 foot tall ceiling . So clear . Bass is way better than I expected . I'm thinking about a tube amp . Does anyone have experience with tubes and La Scallas ? Will it be much difference from my Sansui ? Any info greatly appreciated . I gave $700 for the pair . Worth every penny .

  46. They look very nice and I'm sure they sound as good as they look. As long as the new owner keeps nitpicking Klipsch nerds out of the living room, no one will ever know of the subtle differences, or more important, care.
