I checked in with Rudy this morning and shared this thread with him. No idea if/when he'll have the energy to check in, but it sounds like he's actually doing ok still. No respirator to this point.8 points

@Dave1290 Think there's an over seas DJ that appears here often lately. Brings up memories of lots of good times for me and artist déjà vu also Alright @MicroMara I remember Nina Hagen. Straight from the early 80s disco years here!5 points

I read up on it yesterday, and am brewing right now (slept in). It is blinking so I'm using it. Funny that the other day I noticed it was blinking and thought to myself that it used to be solid red, didn't it. I guess I enabled the feature some time ago without knowing. Pulsing shower head or not, it by far makes the best drip coffee I've ever had. My friend has a moca master. I need to take my maker and some beans over for a brew-off. My only complaint is that it takes a while to make a pot. Good things come to those who wait.5 points

Nena is the only German artist who has managed to land a No. 1 hit in the USA. @JohnJ My dear brother ...you must have known me for many decades...and yes you are right. I used to be a famous DJ in Germany and worked in the best discos in the country. During my studies of economics I earned some extra money. Since my childhood I have had a passion for MUsik and audio technology. It was my uncle's fault because he showed me his hi-fi system when I was a boy. Then it had happened ... with me ... And YES, do you know what a sublime feeling it is when hundreds of people dance to your beats and you bring the masses into ecstasy and they celebrate the sound, the beats, the lights, the lasershows and the DJ. It was an unbelievable time, which I always remember with pleasure. I played from 1980 to 1990, then the wave of electronic acid and techno music began. I couldn't identify with this sound anymore and stopped being a DJ. 10 years of nightlife had also taken their toll and I didn't want to do it anymore. My studies had suffered, too much money in my hands, great girls, cars, drugs, the whole program. Then I finally finished my studies and became top manager in an international company for audio-visual sound-light-laser technology and started to build up a worldwide distribution network for laser technical multimedia concepts. This was a fantastic advancement of my personal development. I have selected a few pictures that I want to immortalize here.4 points

All finished. Used mostly scrap and found items. The left third of the front slides as a door (you can see a chain attached for handle). This will hold about 50 chicks until they're ready to go on pasture, which is the largest qty we do at any one time. The white thing hanging inside is a heat radiating panel. Safer for the chicks to be up against and drastically reduces fire risk. Moving this inside the barn will reduxe exposure to wind and rain, which is always in great quantities when we tend to buy chicks. Hope today was a good one for you Rudy.4 points

Today it is only loops, files, sounds, beats, samples and so on. If everything is produced on computers, the voices are integrated, the whole thing is then mixed and finalized in sound. That's why many DJ's have become music producers and DJ cult stars themselves. Nevertheless the best time was between 1975 and 1990.3 points

Mornin' All Got off the property for a moment, yesterday. Just took a spin through town to see what... there were a few bikers [push and motor]. That was all. Wife made tea last night. It didn't start as tea... but that was what she ended up with. Claimed it was made with coffee... couldn't prove it by me. Had to dump it and make coffee this AM. While I was out, noticed the number of people at the wildlife refuge [a lot] and came to the conclusion that the lake would be the same. Might take a cruise out there to confirm... When I made the chili the other night, I went to the kitchen and wife sez, "I cooked some fresh pasta". "Honey, you know I made chili?" She admitted to wondering why there were beans in the spaghetti sauce....I humored her and put some pasta in the bowl. SW version of pasta fasul. ..no bell pepper. Instead... green chile, jalapeno and Hatch Green Chile Powder.... Boy says we can get in on a side of beef. I need to crunch some numbers. He said it would cost around $0.70/lb. Sounds too cheap... Not a bad deal if it's not a 10 year old range cow. I don't have the teeth for one of those. Ever had tough hamburger? I swear the soup broth will be chewy.3 points

I was busy all weekend and didn't know you went to the hospital until just now. There are a lot of people pulling for you and that can't wait to hear from you and that you're on the upside. My sincere wishes for you and your family as you get through this.3 points

Thanks so much for that update. I've been wondering that but did not want to bother anyone. Get better Rudy. I've got some Oris/Vox news to share with you. Pretty, plywood wings be damned.2 points

In Belgium, the government is using cellphone data of all providers anonymously to learn if the population is respecting lockdown. Long-distance movement (+50km) is down with 95%, which means lockdown communication is efficient. The video in this tweet illustrates the incredible impact of spring break in Florida.2 points

Very cool masks. Also, 20 Euros seems like a great deal for a good-quality diving mask. However, sales of diving masks, especially unusual ones like that, are pretty low most of the time, so a typical dive shop might have a few dozen at most in stock, so they could get cleaned out in a single day. In related news, last week I was in my local drugstore and noticed that they had lots of toilet paper. I thought, “That’s fine. If Costco keeps getting sold out by mid-day, I can still get some here.” Today, I was in the drugstore, and I thought, “Maybe I should pick up an 8-pack while I’m here, in case I don’t make it to Costco this week.” Uh-oh! Too late. The shelves were bare, and there were only a few packs of paper towel left. Hmm... At the cash registers, staff were discussing the new limit on purchasing even paper towel with a customer who had 2 packs in his arms. Apparently the limit is 1. I left, and headed to the grocery store next door, which is usually open until 11 pm. No luck there, because they closed at 6 pm. No bargain-priced Powerade for me tonight. Many shops are closing earlier. Instead of 10 pm, the drugstore closes ar 7. Okay, but then the Customer Service person on the phone earlier in the afternoon mentioned that while the store closes at 7, the pharmacy section closes at 6. Okay, good to know, I’m getting my boots on right now! I had been thinking that by now, the panic buyers would have finally settled down, and their storage areas and kids’ bedrooms would be full by now, so TP shopping might be nearly normal at this point, but apparently it’s not. On the bright side, a buddy mentioned the other day that at Costco, the first hour after the store opens is now reserved for seniors, 65+. Hmm, maybe to pick up the 30-pack that lasts me for months, I should get up at the crack of dawn and head over there to beat the many-packs-more-than-they-need gang. Still, if that’s my worst problem, it’s a pretty minor affair. First World problems, am I right? Normally, I wouldn’t bore you with such mundane and trivial stuff, but in this case, I thought it might be helpful and informative to see what life is like in someone else’s city during The Time of COVID-19.2 points

It’s unfiltered! Shock, Horror! Or, Those girls are so broke that they have share hand-rolled cigarettes. The poor things! The pictures of Tour de France riders smoking as they rode in the peloton, or of motorcycle Grand Prix World Champion Barry Sheene pulling up to the starting line smoking a cigarette through a hole he had drilled in the chin bar of his helmet just boggle the mind of non-smokers like myself. Wow, is it because smoking tobacco is such a great experience that the smokers nearly always find time for a puff or two?2 points

This is how I spent most of my “social distancing” today. I decided to “finish” the TT before installing the driver, as much as I wanted to test it out. It just made more sense, it’s already heavy enough. Plus I won’t have to seal it and protect the driver from dust & debris, or heaven forbid, install it twice. Just sanded it a bit and filled screw holes today. Still quite a ways to go. If anyone cares to chime in on finish choices, feel free.2 points

Good evening to those in the states, and wee hours greetings to Micro and I know it is almost lunch time now for Paul. 🍕 I am sorry I can't post photos tonight, my favorite server for that activity is under maintenance right now. But, I am listening to a Columbia recording from a good friend of mine (studio owner and chief engineer of Rotary Records not far from me) and his LATE father's collection of organ / symphonic recordings given to me as a gift, a HUGE collection of fine LP's and CDs all in like new condition, some LPs dating back to the very early 60ies! A very rare one plays now, with Leonard Bernstein conducting the New York Philharmonic with Aaron Copland's 'Organ Symphony'. The organist is E.Power Biggs whom is well known over the many decades for his playing of Bach organ works. So, this is quite a bit different for him. Really a great performance, the LP is pretty free of any scratches, and pops, however, it has a very loud surface noise that sounds like there is a constant sound of the sea surf in the background! But, still very listenable. Thanks for reading and enjoy your music my friends. See you all next weekend for more vinyl playing from Longfellow Music Hall, cheers! 🍷2 points

Get well soon Rudy! Lots of great PMs with Rudy about our Oris 150s. Did not want to bore you all with it. The very definition of a gentleman. Always positive and never a harsh word. Always willing to help in both music and wood working. You will be back at work in no time. Just remember pull back the houses get smaller. Push forward the houses get bigger. I have a cassette deck in my system (Yamaha) because my 87 Vette has a cassette player in it. I keep telling myself I'm going to make some road trip tapes, but it isn't as fun as it was when I was a teenager.2 points
