  1. Finally getting going on this........ Based on TI's 3255 Eval board. I'm going to try to do some extra tricks on it. Gain control for one. And some kind of level indicator. Rear panel fab'd and prelim guts layout:

  2. You've got to be kidding @oldtimer Sh*t Shower Shave Shampoo the S's Is all I've done in the a m to get ready for decades! Not necessarily in that order. Don't need shampoo anymore my thick hair isn't now so the bar of soap works for that too Used to be enough, now I just don't fret over it, not irresistible anymore.

  4. I set it up a few hours ago, paired with a Yamaha CD S2100 SACD/DAC, into Chorus II's. Before this, I used a Marantz 2245. My initial impressions are very good. My old warhorse Marantz is warmer, but the Yamaha reveals more and finer detail, and is a bit tighter with the bass notes. On Junior Brown's "Read 'Em And Weep", I hear his finger squeaks on the acoustic guitar I never heard before. The dynamics are stunning, and the horns and strings on "Ski Run" by John Barry are very clear and tight. The bass and treble controls, and the VU meters are useful and up the drool factor. I feel I got an upgrade with this unit. The Chorus II's are a good match. I surely now have the finest hi-fi system on my block. 😎

  5. Grew up in Lincoln, lived in North Platte, and Omaha (mostly) until 4.5 years ago when I retired and moved to Green Valley, AZ. A half hour south of Tucson. 20 minutes to home depot, a retirement community of about 30,000. I've always wanted to live in Arizona and when I retired it happened. This is the Sonoran Desert at about 3000 feet. Great place really at least from my perspective. I actually bought my home about four years before I retired and spent plenty of time there before. The annual monsoons started yesterday, and they are a great experience. It does get hot, but much more comfortable than Omaha in the summer.

Have to bail on her after lunch today, skies are blue sun is drying all that tropical weather out. The good stand of grass in the back yard is halfway to my knees... two weeks of growth! Like your tunes this a m!

  9. It is a little "humid" here. That is only relative to here, though. Would still feel dry to most of you. Not near 50%. Maybe 30%. Only time it goes over 50, it is raining. High maintenance... more into themselves than anything else. That applies to males, too. The ones that want an Adonis body. Our society elevates extreme behavior. censoring a rant ----------------------------------------------------------

  10. On my second pail of the guatemalan. It really a little mild for my taste, I'll probably go back to the aldi honduran beans after this bag. Hot and humid here, and the trash and recycling trucks are busy in the hood.

  12. It's been said that alcohol is bad for you, but it's also been said that 100% agave tequila can supposedly be good for you. It's good for your bones. It's good for fitness fans. It aids digestion. It's been linked to weight loss. It can aid sleep. Don't take my word for it: https://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/health-and-families/tequila-health-benefits-national-day-2018-weight-loss-fitness-a8461211.html Cheers!

  16. Finally got it working and got it in my room. Just flopped it down in the first corner of the room that I thought it would sound good and haven’t used any microphones or dialed it in and man. I loved my klipsch sub but holy shit. This thing is just on a whole different level. This thing is actually absolutely amazing. It’s so f’ing crazy and the sound quality it astonishing and the power and the frequency range is amazing. I had never experienced a subwoofer that can go subsonic and let me tell you this thing can go subsonic. The pb16 is an underhung voice cool opposed to the sb16 which uses a overhung coil and they both have there pros and cons and the sb is suppose to be better for music because of its better performance in its upper frequency range and better Efficiency and just suppose to be cleaner I guess you can say. But tbh the pb16 outperforms the sb16 in all frequency’s except when you start getting to about 80hz I believe and it’s only by like 1 or 2 dB and other than the the pb puts out more power by like 10 db and I believe there thd is about the same but I think the pb might be less at some frequency’s and vis versa with the sb. Also the underhung coil is suppose to put out less distortion but Everyone has there own opinion and I’ve heard with people that really know what they are talking about don’t recommend underhung voicecoils but some of the best performing speakers out there implement that coil. They both have there pros and cons but I guess what I’m getting at is this subwoofer is freaking amazing and it’s so clean and beautiful sounding and doesn’t sound boomy even though I just threw it in the first spot I saw. I’m sure after messing with all the equalizers in the app and fine tuning the placement of it and when I find the sweet spot this thing is gonna give me a heart attack out of pure love lol. This is an amazing subwoofer and imo worth every bit of the 2000$. I bought it through a dealer and got a good deal on it. It really rocks your socks and it’s amazing and I could go on and on and I have only begun to scratch the surface of this thing. It really had quality sounding bass in all the frequency ranges, from the little I’ve tested it out. Also it’s pretty amazing because it’s the best if both worlds when it comes to HT and music because it has the ports that you can plug or party plug or leave open and it helps the performance for which ever situation you want. It’s a pretty astonishing subwoofer in the aspect that no other companies have done what they have done with the three ports and the ease of Access with the app to the best of my knowledge. I know there’s other subs out there to outperform this thing for less money supposedly but they all have there pros and cons and this thing is quality and who Ever buys it I don’t think would be disappointed. Thanks guys for the help. Keep ok rockin.

  18. a lot depends on what you want. What do you consider necessary? Cultural opportunity, hospitals, quiet ....Do you like outdoor activities? Are you a city or country type? or wanna be. I am retired, out in the sticks. Cut wood for heat... have unreliable electricity, phone and net service...it's 40 miles to a supermarket. We have a general store, post office and bar... 5 churches 2] Baptist, a Catholic church, an all faiths and a Baha'i.. Prolly some Sun worshippers and Wiccahs and i within 15 miles of the Mexican border I wouldn't live anywhere else.

  29. Mornin' All Nothin' exciting, yet. someone's car alarm went off at 4:30. Bet they were happy about that. Took a couple minutes for it to be turned off. I got smart and brought the pot of leftover coffee to the doghouse. Wife won't be up for... well, until after fresh is made. Wish I could sleep so well. is 5AM too early to get loud? because I watch tv... noticed some of the people working from home aren't wearing stage makeup. Particularly on "the view". Glad I don't have to worry about not recognizing the wife in the AM. When women refer to applying makeup as "putting my face on"...they're not joking. IF the clouds burn off, we're sposed to have a decent chance of precip today, from noon on. Gonna be a beauty of a sunrise.

  30. As the OP, it was my desire to alert the forum to the passing of an entertainment legend, irrespective of what his politics might have been. Were Clint Eastwood or Alan Alda to pass, I would do the same, despite the fact that they represent polar extremes of the political spectrum. It is not necessary to agree with someone’s politics to respect his/her talent.

  33. Wow, you never realize how much stuff you have until it's time to move. Now the unpacking begins. πŸ˜• There's actually three "rooms" in the basement where I could set up my HT. I think I'm going to do the room that's about 15x25 feet and set everything up along the long wall. It'll be great to have everything spread out and not so crammed like it was in our apartment and in our old house.

  34. Very nice! This is a very good way to get some serious amplification for not much investment in time and money. I've been furloughed twice for the pandemic, and each time I took an old power amplifier that had a good power supply but was otherwise dead and not worth repairing, stripped-out all of the circuitry, and substituted a Class-D module from 3E Audio. The results have been excellent, and now I have two working amps that were previously just gathering dust. Or, of course, you can do as @babadono did here, and start from scratch. Either way, it's worth the effort.

  35. Speaking of the devil ... Dr released wife to do all her regular stuff. .... for a week. Then the other eye. She's quite happy about it all. And y'all know what they say... Happy wife.... not that I'm not happy as hell too. I don't have to worry as much. What you don't see can kill you.. I sat in the car. Got lucky and found a space under a tree. Doused myself with a pint of water, rolled the windows down and near took a little nap. Kinda half clouding over. Doesn't looking like rain right now. If it hasn't by now ... prolly not going to happen. It's cooling off and the storms need heat to get them going. Think they said 95` was the magic number for Tucson.

  36. Cranked the BBK & EC "Riding with the King" out earlier and if ya really enjoy the blues it's a keeper if you've never heard it before. The 20th Anniversary w/a couple unreleased tracks is nice too. "Rollin' and Tumblin'" along with "Let Me Love You Baby" are nice additions. Jumped on some Crims and now just pullin a few... Sounding pretty good outside and since it's the 4th this wkend and supposed to be HOT I'm kinda thunkin. I'd prolly send the neighbors over the edge. lol
