Seeing many of the albums being displayed here, The Doors, ELP, Genesis, Queen, to name a few, more than anything, reminds me of a time, when things were simpler, and for some reason, another song pops in my head.5 points

From a post out of Quora Digest. Quite frankly a well tuned Klipsch setup can easily kick Krakatoa to the curb. 194 dB is the maximum undistorted sound pressure level that can be transmitted through sea-level atmosphere on Earth. Anything more than that, the sound wave will be “clipped” at the bottom, since vacuum-like absolute pressure would be reached (0 Pa). Much larger levels are however achievable, even on Earth. For example: The Tunguska meteoric event of 1908 is calculated to have reached 300 dB. This massive explosion flattened 80 million trees over an area of 2000 square kilometres. The eruption of the Krakatoa volcano probably reached 230 dB on 27 August 1883. This was so powerful that the sound wave circled the globe four times. The crack was distinctively heard from over 5000 km away, more or less like from New York to Los Angeles. The launch of a Saturn V rocket can reach 220 dB. The infamous Tzar Bomba reached probably 224 dB (releasing one fourth of the Krakatoa explosion), and accounts for the largest human-made noise. Some sources report that this event created a 280 dB level, but I don’t think it can be a correct value. All dB values in the present article are expressed as “unweighted” or “total”, whereas the human hearing perceives less in the low- and high-frequency domain. This is critically also the part of the spectrum where extreme events tend to concentrate most part of their energy. Unweighted levels are usually suffixed with a “Z” (like zero-weighting) thus presented as dB(Z). Levels in environmental/safety measurements are presented as dB(A), because reflect more closely the characteristics of human hearing.5 points

I agree, Starrider is a real hidden gem! I have the Blu-ray DVD of Foreigner performing Live on SoundStage and they perform Starrider; great version. When Mick Jones introduces the song he appears to admit he might have been seeing a few stars the night he wrote it! 😂4 points

so, this incredibly gorgeous lady, with a very pleasant British accent tells me ..."bring your guitar over and serenade me." I asked her if I could get a raincheck because I had to catch up with my buds on the Klipsch forum. wonder if that was a mistake?3 points

The pianist Les McCann, who is strongly influenced by blues and gospel, was one of the pioneers of soul jazz alongside Ramsey Lewis. In 1969 Les McCann performed together with jazz saxophonist Eddie Harris at the Montreux Jazz Festival and had a chart success with the song Compared to What, which appeared on the album "Swiss Movement" (covered by Al Jarreau, among others). The song is a political criticism of the Vietnam War.3 points

I have all Queen's records, it was the first concert I attended at the age of 14. 13,000 people, a sound and light show that was legendary. An unforgettable experience even after 44 years. By the way, the movie Bohemian Rhapsody from 2018 is absolutely worth seeing, shows in a fanszinating way the story of Queen, rise, excesses and disintegration of the group.3 points

A friend of mine, in a town in northern California, owned a locksmithing shop. He parked his work truck out front on the street curbside, as well as visiting customers. The city came around one day, put up about 8 parking meters and painted the curb green along the street in front of his business. I saw them going up and guys painting the curb. Several day later, they were all gone again and I mentioned it to him that I noticed that. He laughed and told me what happened. I know him to be a man of quiet action. He, one dark night, cut off the meters at their base and repainted the curb white. Not a thing was ever heard again about it either. It was as if it never happened. A perfect execution. 👍3 points

So in essence the Grado X1+ is a top of the line Grado cartridge equivalent to the Gold Prestige version of today. I suppose if I am willing to spend a $100 on a P-Mount I should just pony up the additional $50 to bring the X1+ back to life since it is a top quality cartridge. I found a couple of places that offer it for around $135. Thanks for all the information and suggestions2 points

Not really @JohnJ .... In this time period certainly a good selection, but the songs " Fly like an Eagle"," Macho City" ( Long Version 15 minutes ) and" Abacadabra " from the later years remain the best tunes for me .2 points

Taking delivery September 14 - Ryobi 100ah Zero Turn all electric mower. Four motors total - 1x each for 2x blades / 1x for each rear wheel. Enough juice for 3 acres of mowing. No pesky carbs, belts, spindles/bearings, plugs, noise and especially fuel which can use 2-3 gallons for a three acre mow with 20-25 horse gas engines. Should be fun to use —2 points

@Full Range They always put some kind of an eccentric, vaudeville, campy or just gay sounding tune on their records. It's quirky but darn if they didn't show the talent and passion that made them one of the best rock bands ever!2 points

Yep. Bob and me are in agreement. Happens more often then most realize. My build would be similar to Bob’s, but I would add a bandpass, lower the crossover point a bit, use a 3rd order tweeter filter, and use film and foil capacitors. It would definitely sound better. If you listen really loud, you’ll need steeper slopes. Call Al, but do not buy the CornScalaWall.2 points

Yep I had to pour with my left had to hold my phone and do the pic with my right! Guess I do like it a little lighter or have I forced myself to do that `cause I'm cheap and good coffee isn't anymore I adjust the grind to get the most out of it, and when I do the immersion it has to be way more coarse. I'm going to loosen it a notch or two tomorrow morning just for fun! After dinner mug?2 points
