  1. When I showed one of my “Minis” to a nephew, he described the appearance as Georgia O’Keefe-like. I said the form goes back to the 30’s. His deadpan reply, “It’s older than that.”

  3. I have a nice set of industrial La Scala’s for sale. I bought these from a forum member less than a year ago. I love them, but don’t have room to keep them. They have Dave A’s smahl tweeter with the de-120 driver. The woofers were also replaced with Eminence Kappa 15c. Rebuilt AA crossovers. The Dog houses are braced and are panted with Duratex. These speakers sound fantastic. I really hate to let them go. I can send better pictures if anyone is interested. $1,500 located close to Evansville, IN.

  4. I know where you got yours from @Dave1290 ! Still on the same wagon I've been on for a few days. Love my vinyl, but these last two have been played a thousand times and I'm not exaggerating!

  7. I don't want to bring the discussion down, but my favorite PF song is now "Wish You Were Here". Lost my best friend to cancer last year, a close friend for over 50 years. He had a place way out in the wood that we would go to and listen to music at sometimes very loud levels (4 LSI can do that especially outdoors). We had many favorites and that was one. Our old group still goes out to his place and crank the stereo while sitting by a bonfire. This song for obvious reasons bring us all to tears as we will raise a glass. No one speaks (probably because we can't) Goose bumps just typing this. Great song.

  8. No. Sometimes they are paying to put their dogs or cats in the seats. I have also seen penguins.

  9. I don't understand.🤔 People are paying to have their own faces put in the seats?

  11. Don't care for that fake crowd noise in the hockey games I've watched lately. The first two my team was in you could hear all that the players were saying on the ice. Think that's why they started doing it... so they did not have to bleep out lots of those terrible harmful words!

  12. Watched a little of the baseball game yesterday. Notice the stiffs in the stands behind home plate. It was the same in the outfield as well, though the audio was filled with crowd sounds.

  16. Snagged one a few months ago. It's HER for sure. Great lp. What's a couple extra bucks? Full Range has a better chance of bumping w/her out on walkabout than I do unless we bump sometime w/Beck.

  17. Crying? I'm loving the free ac with the lower than normal humidity man!! About dusk or actually right before then I'll have to close up cause the humidity will start to rise. It would be abnormal if it didn't.

  19. Oh, and I forgot to mention, the tickets were $3.50, $4.50, and $5.50. I think my HSBFF and I paid the $4.50 price for front row balcony because they were not on the main floor, which visually and sonically were the best seats in the house. Averaging the results of 2 different inflation calculators, this translates into $25.50 if the bands and promoters were to charge the same prices today. Double that number would be the minimum today by greed. I paid $75 to see Robin Trower about 2 years ago at the Royal Oak music theater. What pissed me off, was the hundred or so people hanging around the bar behind us drinking and talking during the concert while we sat on cheap metal chairs. RT was excellent playing his old hits with new young guys in his Trio, but I swore this would be the last rock concert I'd ever attend. I much prefer Blue Rays on my Atmos system for $20 or less. The beer is cheaper, weed is legal in Michigan, and I can can pause for a pee without missing a note. I give the "Italian Salute" to live concerts now! LOL.

  20. as for the sealed sub is best for music thing, i agree for the most part on the common offerings for subs. who makes a horn loaded consumer standalone sub that doesnt need to be built? & you cant really compare 18" IB in wall subs to any common consumer sub... apples to watermelons. my 2 measly sb2000 subs do very good for movie use too in my room on my system, no they dont compare to huge subs for music or movies but again, need to keep things in perspective here, each persons likes, needs & budget are different & for most people a sealed consumer sub (or 2) is better for most music. i used to own a velodyne fsr15 servo controlled sealed sub & even today they are an excellent sub that will hold its own with modern subs of equal size. & when my friend i bought it from had 2 of them it was the best bass i had ever heard at that time in the mid 90's. buy what you want & can afford & is practical for your needs, these things should not be a competition... there is always someone or something bigger, faster or better!

  21. And how much do they have to pay to get their pics blown up like a Fat-Head and put in the stands? Read a while back it was like a couple Ben's!

  22. Heard One of these Days live in Detroit, the day after DSOTM was released. The entire show was in Quadraphonic and I had the best seat in the house front row center balcony at Cobo Arena. It's also where there was a pyrotechics mishap and the explosion on stage hurt the band's ears, so they took a break. A friend of mine was in the hot dog stand line with David Gilmour while the roadies fixed the damage. Pretty unique all around.

  23. It went below 50 at my place earlier feels like autumn for sure. Sold the wheelchair, the feminine seafoam green wicker La-Z-Boy and the big dresser and chest of drawers is going out soon. I paid for most of this stuff in the first place so it's nice to get some kind of a return on it. Another day of free AC!! Yaaaa! *That nice, petite Oriental gal is determined! Helped me carry that big, heavy Thomasville chest of drawers out and held it while I put the nine drawers back into it!! Now it's early dinner / first food of the day for me after cleaning out all of that cedar chips that my mom had underneath every layer of that thing. Plus getting that recliner out. "Were Dealin' Here! "

  29. A new Jeremy Mann piece... 55 Colors. these c*cksuckers always ship these beautiful prints rolled... it takes about a week or two before they begin to 'Relax' enough to lay flat so I can really get the print flattened out. You can see a nice stack of art underneath the Mann being 'flatten'.

  30. Dag, just one! I think it would be easier to come up with a plan for total world peace than come up with JUST ONE favorite Pink Floyd song! So let me try it this way: Personal favorite song: If I must, it would be Wish You Were Here due to the raw emotion of the song. Best Album: Dark Side Of The Moon a masterpiece from start to finish, and I think the whole planet agrees based on the sales records. Best Album Mastering: Momentary Lapse of Reason. I have 4 versions of DSOTM and be it digital or vinyl, none can compare to this album. That album makes even average speakers sound very good, and superb speakers sound out of this world! If you are selling speakers, you NEED this album! That's my story and I'm sticking to it, Jon

  33. Just looking at the specs I dont think it would be an improvement over the de-120 but I could be wrong, at minimum there would need to be crossover changes to reduce output from 109db and looking at the response chart on their website it is only flat in that it is a straight line down from about 2k to 18khz I'm assuming they fix that in the crossover?

  37. I have Crites speakers. I bought them about a year ago and messed around with them for several months. The sound was pretty good but fell apart unless you were within the apex of that triangle. My room is 7.5'X13'x21'. I bought 11 GIK sound panels. The wall panels, diffusion panels and the bass traps are all bass traps. They are all 6" thick and 8' thick. At the same time I used the Vandersteen formula for speaker placement. It is on their website. Wallah! After this setup and placement of the panels my bass is much better, imaging is superb and I can walk around the room and the sound is pretty much the same. Previously I had complete cancellation of certain frequencies. Sound panels are definitely one of the vital parts of a sound system. Granted I have a dedicated listening room and plenty of room for the panels.

  38. The first is my everyday amplifier, a conventional type of OTL amplifier using 6C33C output tubes. I quite like the second one too; again OTL, using 6082 output tubes. The novelty with this one is that there are no transformers at all; it runs directly from the mains supply. It's based on one of the earliest OTL designs, by Dickie and Macovski in 1954. Regretfully, my constructions tend to be rather utilitarian in comparison to some of the beautiful ones built by others!
