  4. I vaguely remember leaves. Last time I was in Fall conditions, all of the leaves came down in a couple of days. It was crazy. I was in IN... Didn't get to leave until near Christmas. It was 17`F. Shot down I-65...Told myself I was stopping until it was green and warm. Hit GulfShores AL... It was green. Not warm

  6. It's the best thing to do, it feeds the grass and creates top soil. The best soil is found in the woods, digging up some trees it was the best dirt I had ever seen. Thousands of years of decaying leaves and branches feeds the trees, which return the compost.

  7. I've been, uncharacteristically, quiet today. Got a phone call at 9PM last night. A friend was having some medical issues and wanted me to take him to the hospital. He decided that he would rather go in an ambulance... so we stopped at the FireDept and loaded him into the ambulance. 11PM, got a phone call from him telling me he was in a hospital in Tucson. 2AM.. another call. He's being discharged.... 4:30AM, we get back home. Diagnosis was pleurisy. Last time I was headed home from Tucson at the time was when I was dating the dancer... This wasn't near as much fun.... Our weather is almost seasonable... not 100` for a change.. Still drinking coffee. Went to bed later than I normally get up Shot today all to hell.... like I had plans....

  11. He hammerjanged the threads on the axel. I had to come home and get a file and hacksaw blade to clean up the end of the bolt. He dropped the chain again... right at the house. I told him how to do it, this time. He thought the adjusters would keep things in place when they weren't positioned properly. Told him to use the nut on the axel to keep things, too. He's gonna get mad at me for letting him make mistakes. I told him I was gonna let him . I will try to keep him from hurting himself, though.

  16. This is a health crisis. Stones are not being thrown. It is true that if you are morbidly obese you will not have mobility and little energy to do anything. People need clear guidance as to what to eat and how to keep fit, which just plain is not available. Try the food pyramid and you will end up with diabetes and a heart attack. Ignore it and just listen to commercials and you are even worse off. Ask your doctor who took one nutritional class in med school, is 40 lbs overweight and drinks three 450 calorie Starbucks a day, good luck with that. We were warned by scientists 30 years ago and everyone on this forum is old enough to remember the warnings and remember what people used to look like.

  17. I would add up the cost to have them shipped by freight, which will have crating fees too, vs calling it a vacation, where you can ignore the fuel and hotel costs as a vacation that you want to take, and the speakers can follow you home as a bonus. On the vacation side, flying out can cost less than a hotel or two and the fuel savings can go towards a pickup rental. <edit> > I rolled the dice and bought a motorcycle that was in SLC on ebay, almost a year ago today. I grabbed my riding gear, flew there, strapped on my suitcase and rode it home, rather than having it shipped. Even though it was pretty cold, especially in the high mountains; had a lot of strong cross winds and rain in central Kansas; got drenched in St Louis, I really enjoyed the mountains, have fond memories and would do it again.

  19. Ceptormsn, I actually plan to sell them if someone is interested. Got speakers installed in one tonight and used the Type E network with the old tin caps so I can see how they sound compared to new caps (either PE caps or Sonicaps). I installed another mid driver tonight to check it against the K55 when I install the guts in second speaker. Couldn’t crank it in my shop b/c too late The EV tweeter on the tractrix horn sounde very smooth an effortless and matches the mid very well. Had it sitting on rolling work bench 30” off the floor in middle of shop so couldn’t tell much about bass on woofer which isn’t broken in. I installed rope caulk on all speakers to deaden resonance. Finished the hand robber wax with 0000 wax including the back. Might consider crossing in EV tweeter around 4500 Hz and roll off the K55 at 6db. Anyone have schematic for that? that? Thanks.

  22. My brother, (RIP), actually did something similar while looking for a well casing in my other brother’s (RIP) property. Me and my father (RIP) were the only other ones to witness it, and since I was the shovel guy and due to all of the RIP’s, you’ll just have to believe me.

  24. I did the caregiver thing for. my Dad. It was the hardest thing I would do again. We had some good talks. He laughed when I told him we [kids] used to pluck his bass while it was in its bag/case. He stunned me by asking why we didn't ask... "But Dad... that is your baby" That bass stands in my livingroom... I tighten the strings and pluck it every now and again. It has wear on it near as much as WillieNelson's guitar

  25. Okay right out of the saddle I admit these are not Heresys or Klipsch speaker!!! It is a fun build though. To start off the box is bigger (31' H x 16" W X 15.5" D. (3.4CF box) Used 7 ply "plywood" which is 3 center plys of plywood and two plies of mdf on the outside. The stuff is HEAVY!! I think it might be called MDO???? Heresy woofers I had didn't have matching T/S parameters so I bought two Eminence Delta 12LFA woofers with 56OZ magnets from PE which are a perfect match for the cabinet size using a 4" x 2.5" port with rounded front edge per PE's suggestion. These woofers tested right on their factory specs and have greater x max and power handling than K-22s along with 2.5" voice coil. Installing rope caulk on the tweeter and mid horn with braces for both horns. Midrange is K55 (yes Klipsch!) on an 8 x 12 plastic horn. Tweeter is a plastic Klipsch Tractrix screw on horn with EV tweeter driver. Crossover is Type E (yes Klipsch!) recapped with Sonicaps. Speakers will be installed from the back. Back is 3/4" thick as well with numerous screws for the two window pane braces. Two window pane braces per cabinet. Cabinets are clamped with wood screws at every joint. Ribbon mahogany veneer with 1.75" risers. New grill frames with neo magnets hidden under the veneer. Back is veneered as well. I plan on trying some old style Klipsch black grill cloth on the masonite frames. 6 coats of wipe on poly wet sanded and then waxed with 0000 steel wool and minwax finishing wax. Smoother than a babys butt. Don't know if I can move them when I get the innards installed but I do have a dolly.

  28. Good information. There is a law of diminishing return. As much money as I have put into audio since 1974 a few observations. Your hearing will get worse. You have to love your speakers, if you do not the rest of the components are inconsequential. You have to love your preamplifier or phono preamp. I do not think my ears would appreciate a $ 5000 cartridge over a $ 1500 cartridge. I can easily listen to an economical cartridge. I cannot listen to an economical DAC.

  30. I love to dance in the dance school. I loved the Rumba, TschaTscha, Samba, the Tango and Passoboble. Slow waltzes and waltzes I did not like so much. Fox and Discofox were also too boring for me. I really enjoyed this sport for a good 6 years. These were good indeed good times. Unfortunately I can't hear any music in your link, but that's no problem either.

  37. What a fantastic day. Better than any Christmas, I have to say even knowing how large these are I was still surprised at how much space they take up in their boxes. Unboxing and putting together was super easy thanks to how well Klipsch packaging was. I haven't stopped listening to music and even watched Avengers End Game for a completely new experience today. Some of the most impressive tracks of music so far: Enigma: The Omega Point Tori Amos: Cloud Riders Chicane: No Ordinary Morning Armin Van Buuren: Mask But honestly. EVERYTHING sounds incredible on a Klipschorn.
