  7. Reason I ask is my turntable sits in the middle shelf of my TV stand and that shelf isn't tall enough for the cover to be propped open during playback and it makes it impossible to remove the cover unless I take the whole turntable out of the stand. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't committing some sort of unforgivable turntable sin by listening with the cover closed. 🙂

  8. Received my Brimar 12AU7 tubes yesterday from the uk - took less than a week from order time. Popped them in this morning and I want to thank you so much for the heads up. Yes yes yes - these were so worth the investment. Wow! What I noticed immediately was the depth of the soundstage and separation of voices and instruments sounding more detailed. Very warm sounding with great bass slam and very accurate highs without and sense of harshness. I can’t believe that those two little preamp tubes that cost less than $100 for the pair can make as much of an improvement to the synergy of my system. I’m so stoked. Love the klipsch community

  10. Poland is our direct neighboring country at the eastern border to Germany . I never listen to Polish music. Why ? One of them stole my brand new car and crashed it while fleeing from the police, another one cheated me out of 1.600 € when I bought Jm Lab Focal speakers. So you can imagine that I have no desire at all. There are thousands and thousands of jokes in Germany about the Poles..here is one of them, he says it all. " Advertisement of the Tourist Office of Poland. Take a vacation in Poland. Your car is already there. " But thanks for the tip, you couldn't know that I have a problem with it.

  12. Took 2 of us to get it around the narrow corner, and a few days to get it hooked up with some old TD-1 USA horns. Using 1/2 of a Crown K1 to drive it (400 W). Itsed to be the "Most Powerful Sub in the World" 30 years ago, and the basis for the famous LAB Horn when Eminence made a beefy enough driver for this type of horn. Flat from 28-125 Hz Using 15" cones and an IBM Servo motor. But now I would give the title to another Tom Danley invention............the MATTERHORN.........a tapped horn made from a Seatainer and 40 drivers with a 1 KW amp each for a total of 40,000 watts that will knock over a Honda Civic. The BT-7 used by bands like U2 for their world tours, Disneyworld, etc. This thing kicks royal bootie on music crossed at 60-80 Hz. Finally got it tweaked and it's hard to stop listening with such super low distortion BASS!!

  17. Not only that, even CDs sound better on a later model Blu-ray player. Better DAC? Who knows, but I couldn’t miss the difference when I upgraded from a 2005 DVD player to a 2018 flagship Blu-ray player.

  20. I just found these guys. Acapella, the drum tracts and bass are all laid down vocally. Also check their version of Country Roads. This sounds great on my RP-600M w/10" sub. Little mini-amp 100 wpc.

  23. Exactly, would suck big time. I got this one: https://www.amazon.de/Interstellar-Expanded-Version-Hans-Zimmer/dp/B08KGT79SD/ref=pd_sbs_15_1/258-7431884-3909210?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B08KGT79SD&pd_rd_r=468f6183-8e9c-4435-8bf7-99a1c9d60013&pd_rd_w=GtPmx&pd_rd_wg=xXPN9&pf_rd_p=17269923-e95e-42b2-b8e1-f208b58f5815&pf_rd_r=EG9Q94A1V2G0DTW184VR&psc=1&refRID=EG9Q94A1V2G0DTW184VR At least on the picture of the back-cover, the listing seems to be correct.

  25. If a non-attached dust cover, then the answer is obvious. If an attached hinged cover, then it is because they don't want to slide it off the hinges. There is an increased risk of feedback with the dust cover down at certain volumes. By placing a weight on the cover such as the lp jacket you can mitigate this, but the best solution is playing without the cover down, or off. There could be a risk of an upraised cover falling down as well during play, which would not be a good thing.

  27. This may seem like a very odd question. I see everyone posting pics of their turntables with either the dust cover off or it tilted up while they're spinning a record. Is there a reason for this?

  28. Local guy listed it on Ebay, pickup only. Yep, when I ran sine waves through it I could feel the flesh on the back of my calves being modulated. It's a very SERIOUS and very LOW DISTORTION subwoofer horn for sure. Dimensions are 45x45x23 inches. It's almost like new since it was used in a home theater and never hit the road. It's for my basement system in the workout room I'm putting together.

  35. I've been looking a bit more a the KEF Q550. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07238Y3DM/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&th=1 How do you think these would stack up against the RP 28PF's? The KEFs have smaller drivers but there are more of them... Also hard to tell if the KEF's offer the same rear panel connections-especially USB-that I really like on the Klipsch. Also do not appreciate the the KEF's are sold without grills while they include grills in the pictures, I mean who does that?

  38. City boys spent 1.5 hours yesterday sucking up all the leaves here in Sherwood Forest. Today? The moron across the street drives his lil John Deere around sucking up more cans of leaves. Yup, nice row dumped in the street waiting for the wind to blow them in my yard. Just can't win! Think I'll start calling him Dick instead of Lee.

  41. That doesn't mean you're all done, does it? I set aside some money for annual upgrades, and 16 years later, the system has reached levels that I wasn't even aware of when I started out. Bi-amping? Active electronic crossover with time alignment? K-402 tweeter horns? Most of that was totally new to me, and with the networking that goes on here, you can often find used gear in good order. You can learn a lot on this forum, about sound as well as about audio, and make new friends as well. Sometimes that's the most important thing.

  43. Those Brimars will sound great I'm sure Fido. As I may have mentioned I plugged in some RCA clear tops that some folks were raving about in the two center positions and the rest remain the stock tubes. My system satisfies me when I'm playing very good recordings. Some artist can be relied on to provide superior recordings such as Sonny Rollins, Diana Krall, Over the Rhine, Miles Davis, Mandolin Orange, and Mark Knopfler to name a few. These artist will shine on most systems and that's where I'm spending my money these days (CDs and streaming MQA). Just yesterday I decided to make a play list of some music I use to listen to in the 70s and 80s namely Flying Burrito Brothers and Marshall Tucker Band. I was not impressed with the results which is a shame since we use to listen to this music on some less than top shelf gear and were happy. Over the years two forum members have made statements that I remind myself of when I become unhappy with what I'm hearing. Dave Mallette has said several times that it's all about the source and he is right. I took that to mean "crap in crap out". Another time I was going on and on about my vintage HK integrated amp and how it beat the socks off some of my more expensive gear. It was Old buckster who said "Tar.....are you sure or is the sound just different?". Buckster (RIP) was on to something. So now when I change things up in my system (such as tubes or DACS) and expect great things I ask myself is the change an improvement or just a different sound. Hope this makes sense and sorry for the length of the post.
