  4. survived the turkey. I got a surprise when I got a good look at the product description.... Fully Cooked We don't know where this thing came from... we agree that neither of us bought it. SIL must have given it to us [from the food bank]. I am pondering why one would buy a cooked turkey... it was a whole bird. Looked just like a regular frozen bird. Silly part is, it takes as long to heat the thing up as it does to cook a raw bird. [That had me scratching my head... no, not fleas....] I couldn't put stuffing in it. That kinda changed the plan. I did the best I could with it... not real happy with the results...better than a turkey hot dog A couple more cups of coffee and I will decide whether I want to suit up to go to the lake. Sposed to top out in the low 60's. Appears we are having the child today. Wife has a stack of papers to grade. The pile has grown out of the office door. I bet the kittens will get confine to the bathroom while she is doing this. They're so cute when they are playing in all of the little piles of papers.

  5. Just found out I lost a good friend due to cancer a while ago. I'd heard she was denying anymore chemo and didn't want to suffer thru it. She sucked it up. Even though she was a year older we shared the same birthday and always wished each other a Happy Birthday. Losing someone you played with as a kid is tough and the entire group we hung with are all pretty much in shock. She was much worse than any of us thought. So here's to Pammy and the rest of the crew. Yup, we all stood in the receiving line after the Beatles show and touched whatever we could as they ran by. So many laffs and good times over the years.

  15. my Primaluna EVO 400 Integrated tube amp - love it - yes its on a shelf screwed into studs and is not sitting on the subwoofer - I use the isolation feet to make sure there is ZERO vibration to the amp in case people feel the need to chastise me for what looks like the amp is sitting on the sub - lol

  18. Congrats on your Schiit! I’ve been running a Vidar with Saga OG preamp for the past 6 months and really like them. I recently picked up a pair of kg4’s and enjoy how the amp and speakers sound together. My tip for buying Schiit: check out their clearance section on the website. There can be some pretty sweet deals on there for b stock items.

  20. I'd like to say I planned it that way, but it was a happy accident. To those that are curious.. going directly from coax spdif to aes is a whole lot easier than aes to spdif. So it turns out you can connect a digital device with coax spdif to the aes inputs of something like the Yamaha with little more than an RCA to XLR cable.

  22. I think he has the backhoe working... Wife worked yesterday. I fixed some sweet potatoes, regular mashed potatoes, ham slices and brussel sprouts. Managed to get stuff out of the oven and on the table as she walked in the door. Not sure how I managed it, but I got it all finished at the same time... 🤔

  24. Another thing I forgot to mention was that because of the tighter bass coming out of my speakers from the Vidar, it's like I got new subs. The subwoofer integration is even better than it was and it was seamless to begin with. I don't think I'll ever go without horn loaded subs. Wonder when Schiit is gonna come out with one?[emoji39] Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk

  25. When I'm not running it with a tube preamp, I'm using it with a Schiit Saga. It's a passive preamp with the option of a tube buffer. I tend to prefer the tube buffer. I'd say that the tube influence is comparable to my tube cd player and my tube DAC. Just enough tube action to keep me hooked and yes, rolling tubes does change the sound. I have two systems in my house. One is high powered for rocking out and the other is low powered more for critical listening. The Vidar is in the low powered system and works great for that. It can't compete with 500 watt Crown amps. They are animals...the Vidar is not. It is tight, accurate and smooth. Sophisticated at low volumes and that's why I like it for my needs. So today I finally cranked it up with the Saga passive preamp. Very disappointing. Got nuthin'.......but that was to be expected. Like I said, that combo at low volumes is where it shines and it's sole purpose in my situation. Then I paired a fully restored Marantz 3300 with the Vidar. Now we're talking. I didn't try to see how loud it could go but it did 100db comfortably. Not really the balzy sound I was expecting from the Marantz. Much more refined. There was a good synergy there. 26. Tubes have heaters in them, that's the glow you see. A tube functions better after it's warmed up. 5 minutes or so is all it takes, though many people say tubes sound better after an hour of playing. I think that way also, but I wonder if it's just my brain getting used to the tubes sound. Every amp is a little different, and you'll soon discover what warm up period your amp likes.

  27. Right after I got the Vidar I was (and still am periodically) using it with a tube preamp. It is awesome.....best of both worlds and by that I mean you get all the tube action in the mids-highs and best of all, the bass. Tight, snappy bass that has weight to it. I get great bass from my tube amps but not like this. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk

  28. If the OP considers to get pre-owned speakers, i can certainly recommend the KG line. Have set up my KG1.5s as my music-output for my Mac. My screen is 22" for size and the speakers are paired to a small Yamaha amp. I don´t feel like adding a sub at this time.

  30. If the goal is to listen to music controlled from your iphone but without having to turn on your TV, then I would buy a $40 chromecast audio puck off of ebay and connect it directly to your amp via a 2nd headphone-to-RCA audio cable. Chromecast audio has been discontinued but still available on ebay. It's got an internal DAC that supports 96/24 pcm wifi audio and sounds great. I don't know if it would be better or worse than the audio path through your TV you are using today, but it's certainly a simpler and cleaner method. just my .02

  39. In the old days at Indy when the stock block rules existed, it was easy to tell when one of Dale Coyne’s stock block Chevy V-8s rumbled by. There was no mistaking them for the high revving purpose built racing engines. I read somewhere that Dale started with the blocks from retired school buses, as they were “well seasoned.” It was fun to see the looks on people’s faces when I started the car in my avatar. Instead of the sound of the expected four banger, there was the rumble of a 3.5 liter Buick V-8.

He said it's the best bang for the buck on the planet UNless you're going w/McIntosh. This dude KNOWS his Schiit too. Go figure...

  43. Yes right from Klipsch. Others online either had the full price or out of stock. It was $308.16 w/taxes. Ordered a Fluance RT80 turntable too. Haven't listened to real home audio in a decade plus. Stoked to hear some vinyl on good speakers. Think the first one I spin will be Long Misty Days by Robin Trower.
