  1. If you're a coffee nut (I'm not).... my wife has one of these and absolutely loves it. Additionally, most that she shares it with also like it. JURA Coffee Machines: Latte Macchiato, Cappuccino, Espresso and Coffee - JURA USA Evidently they put the grounds into an internal 'cup' and push the water through under pressure. When it's done the grounds, now in the shape of a puck, get ejected into an internal receiver that you empty out every now & then. She had a gal-pal that she got it from. She was at her friends house (who's got more money than sense) and the gal said it didn't work.....so did Marion think she (gal pal) should just take it down to the trash can??? Marion said "I'll take it if that's what you're going to do.... Richard can probably fix it" So she brought it home, I took it apart (interesting plumbing on the inside) and the short story is the water pump had sprung a leak. Ordered a new one for about $100 and it's up & running again (gal pal simply bought a new one) Marion's had it now for gosh.... 6-8 years and it's still going strong. Having that cup is her glowing point of every day. I've never had it but from those who have, it's a good maker. Me??? I'll pop the top of my Coke, thank you.

  11. I came across this by chance. His kits appear to be of excellent quality, and his assembly manuals are very comprehensive and reminiscent of those put out in the glory days by the major companies. These amps would seem to be a good match for Klipsch speakers. https://www.analogethos.com/ Maynard

  12. That Yamaha should do well. If you diligent, you can piece together a very nice system with used gear. The classifieds on here has quite a few listings, FB, CL, and a few audio sites can keep you busy looking. Maybe look for something in the Klipsch Reference(R) or Reference Premier (RP) lines from the last few years. That's the good thing about quality speakers, even an older speaker can still be worthwhile, some even prefer older stuff. Can you give us your location? Someone might be close and know about a deal.

  13. Still WAAAAAAAAY too much money for what these are. They are hardly recognizable as Klipschorns (And they might well be the knockoffs from the '70's and '80's). He should consider himself lucky if he can get a grand out of these.

  14. What @Zack Rsaid, lol. I find myself using the wide pan shutter and always taking it in landscape, as this site loves tilting portrait shots on their side. Note to self though: don’t take selfies with the wide shutter 🤣

  16. So to dumb it down to my level......you're essentially attaching one electrode to one end.....the other electrode to the other end and turning it into a giant heating element? I'd never heard of this (but not surprising given my electrical chops......or lack thereof) Certainly better to save the pipe if you can because as you say, once it's burst, it's a lot more work to find/fix.

  17. Bill - no , it's very safe it's the only way to thaw underground frozen pipes in minus 30-40-50 or lower temperatures ----we use , Generators , or welders - this method is perfect to thaw the pipes rapidly , before the cold damages the pipes and require excavation in very cold weather -

  19. Is it just me or maybe the angle of the pic... but that woofer you're holding looks terribly off center. the dust cap is off center & theres a big gap on one side between the edge of the foam & the plastic trim ring... like a bad refoam job or the guy/gal that made it was up drinking the night before & still drunk when they came in to work that day!

  23. Ok, so I put $10,000 into it back at day one.... that infers that today, I'd have 670,000,000,000 I did the math correctly. (I'm not worried about the number if I didn't do the math correctly for my question) I want to cash out..... who's going to hand over the cash? Where & how? For that amount, I'm willing to accept pennies though I'd prefer them to be rolled with the person's name and phone number on each roll.

  24. Welcome, some more info will help give you more options....do you have any gear that can be used in your new system, receiver, sub, cables? Is this for movies, TV, music? Your location, used can be a big money saver, but some of the prepared systems Klipsch sells are very good. You mentioned Atmos, would you prefer to have a better quality 3 or 5 channel home theater, or a bigger system with Atmos but less quality speakers? There are a few ways to go, are you willing to piece together a system, or prefer a quicker package deal? Occasionally, we see someone selling an older hi quality speaker pair, a $2800 new pair for $1000, would something like that and a $200-$300 used AVR interest you? It might take some time to find a deal, but you would eventually end up with a much nicer system, but with added hassle.

  26. Yes. I ordered Klipsch factory replacement capacitors from JEM Performance Audio. They are enroute. I'm planning to do the work as soon as possible, do just one at first and then perform a Left/Right comparison of the updated vs stock cross-overs to better know the difference.

  31. My wife is awesome. So beautiful inside and out and we have fun, daily. When I bought my Forte IVs i found I had some cash in an account I did not realize I had any $$$ in. I had put away $$ for the new speakers but when my wife saw the credit card bill come in she paid it off from money she had made from her xmas bonus. She told me to keep my $$$ in case I wanted to buy other gear or whatever. That worked for me -lol

  35. I picked up a set of 1982 Heresy last year to go in my workshop, with the intent to refinish them. I started the project earlier this year, as well as many others, so I am getting back to finishing said project. Earlier this year, I took them apart, glued, filled, routered, sanded, stained, and finished, and then was forced to finish other projects before coming back to them. I am currently in the process of finishing up the front baffles with Duratex and additional bracing to the rear panel. Once those are done, I will put them back with new drivers (Crites woofers, A-55's, and CT-120's) and upgraded crossovers, which I've put on a smaller board. The day I purchased them: Temporarily setup in my garage: Filling and sanding: Added bracing: Wood is finished: Nearly finished front panel. Will do one more coat of Duratex after I get the other speaker at this point. I want to do the final coat at the same time with the same consistency of the watered down Duratex.

  41. Faith makes it real. As many investors have stated, it doesn't throw off any income. Your only hope is that the person after you will pay more than you did. Now that I have seen recent articles saying that JP Morgan and Morgan Stanley are looking to get in on the game, I feel more than ever that tulip mania is definitely here. Who knows? I like income. If it doesn't produce income, I am not too interested. I like dividends and option income. I think Mr. Wonderful summed it up pretty well.

  47. The vertical coverage is an issue, trust me, especially when it's too narrow. Also, it's a problem when it covers way too much vertically at some breakpoint frequency (loss of coverage control when descending in frequency) --like Heritage midrange horns: the K-400, K-500, K-600, etc. I've heard horns having the following coverage: 1) 90 h x 60 v, down to 100-200 Hz (essentially full range). These are K-402s on top of KPT-KHJ-LF bass bins (present Jubilees) 2) 90 h x 60 v, down to ~600 Hz (K-510s), then Khorn bass bins (above the same coverage vs. frequency as the above Jub bass bins), and also Belle bass bins 3) 90 h x about 15 v, down to 700 Hz (AMT-1s) then Khorn bass bins 4) all kinds of horns and other direct radiating drivers that lose vertical directivity below about 2 kHz (such as the K-400 series "pattern flip" midrange horns) 5) Full range dipole radiators (Magnepan MG-IIIa) 6) etc. The AMT-1s have the same horizontal coverage as the K-402s and K-510s: 90 degrees. Single-high horizontal coverage on top of a Cornwall bass bin, crossed at 670 Hz, below: The problem with the AMT-1s, like you say, is the limited vertical coverage, and stacking them together actually makes this worse, except for the fact that the height of the direct arrivals from them increases (just like a large dipole radiator--like the Magnepans). So the issues with too narrow a vertical coverage is that, once you stand up, you don't hear the highs well if standing close (within 5-10 feet) of the driver. And their coverage decreases with increasing frequency--just like a line array. Is this an issue? It depends on your listening style. Adding three stacked AMT-1s on top of one another, and tri-amping the three pairs of AMT-1s to created a "shaded line array" (like the last configuration "f" below, delaying the middle and top AMT-1s to create a "J" shaped line array coverage) would solve a lot of these issues for home hi-fi service: But note that his creates less than 90 degrees of consistent horizontal coverage, however--just like "lineless" bifocal lenses for glasses with the junk on each side of the on-axis imaging). The only real solution for both horizontal and vertical coverage, taken together as the measure of merit, is a point source radiator behind a full-range horn like a K-402 or a full-range MEH--like the Danley-style Unity and Synergy horns. I find that I move around a lot and really enjoy my three-across K-402s (crossing to Jub bass bins in the corners, and dual 15" woofers in the center--on-axis), so I have no real issues with polar performance anywhere in the listening area of the room (40 feet long, 15.5 feet wide, 9 feet high), covering everything except perhaps the first 4 feet at the front wall (15.5 wide)--where I don't usually go anyway.
