@MeloManiac Hello ! For Belgium > To find vinyl LPs from Thelonious Monk and others: I am in France and to find new or used vinyls, I bought them from Jazz Messenger in Barcelona. The prices are good, the opportunities are of good quality and the transport is very good. Otherwise for excellent quality but more expensive occasions there is Paris Jazz Corner in France. https://www.jazzmessengers.com/fr/vinyl http://www.parisjazzcorner.com/dis_liste.php?page=3&ArtNeuf=&ArtOcc=&lang=&AutNom=monk&AutPrenom=&ArtTitFr=&op=&ArtAn=&SupNum=vinyl&SgrNum=&cd=&vinyl=&rech=avancee&LabNom=&InstNum=&ArtCaractFr=4 points

Ahhhh Wife is off to work and get to play "her" stereo --- the H/K and LaScalas. Fired up the turntable, feeling mellow... Stevie Wonder - Fullfillingness First Finale While I was pawing thru the stack, Ziggy Stardust came into hand.... Noticed it had one of those "Play at maximum volume" recommendations.. [they weren't talking to us, were they?]. Are they still putting those on recorded music. I know several LPs of that era came with...4 points

when I was a kid , I stayed with a bunch of friends , there was a beer factory 1 street over , you'd bring a case of 24 empties and 10$ , for a refill , right out of the machines , the kids would all go and get the beer , for their folks - nobody ever bothered anybody , there was no ID needed for Cigarettes , Beer , or Booze - the neighborhood was Irish4 points

Back in Québec in the Sixties, it was routine for 10-year-olds to be sent to buy smokes for their parents. We could buy them for ourselves just as easily, and some kids did.3 points

Isn't that THE I-15. I seem to remember some show making fun of all the Californians adding "the" in front of the highway name/number. Sounds like we moved into our current locations around the same time....I have to tell myself there is nothing I can do about it. But it really, really is a sore spot with me. My neighbors all think I can fix it because I'm in that line of work and I've been here longer than all of them. I tell them I've just been pushing the rock up the hill longer than them. Sorry if I jumped in your $#it earlier. I'm so sick of explaining to "regular" folk: no I've not seen <insert streamed flavor of the month> they say go watch it on NetFix tonight, its great. I can't Why you cheap bastard pay for NetFlix I can't Why I told you this the last 5 times you asked me if I have seen X,Y or Z. I can't stream things Why Long explanation on my part Really, that sucks you should move No kidding, that never crossed my mind😑 You want to buy my house? I'd never buy a house that I couldn't stream things at Don't end a sentence with at You deserve no Internet, your kid of a d!ck I may have embellished the last part but that is pretty much how it goes2 points

LOL yes a pool in Maine! House came with a nice inground pool - we use it heavily June-August and then its just too cold at night to maintain the temp.... it wouldn't be a good investment but where the house had one we do enjoy it!2 points

It was a good series, there was way too much time devoted to Louis Armstrong - Burns should have done a separate 6 hour doc about Louis. Way too little spend on the 50s and 60s.2 points

So this is what my final set-up in my living room is about to look like, adding the Heresies. We sit on the floor when watching TV, so the screen is a bit high up. I left a little additional space on the rods, as you can see, so maybe i´m going to shorten them later on. Next project: Update Heresies.2 points

they are easily worth that price parted out. the "not worth a cup of coffee" comment is ridiculously wrong. the water damage does look pretty bad on the bottom boards, & they should be replaced if you are trying to make them look presentable, however, if you just want to have some speakers in say a garage or primitive man cave to blast some music then you could possibly just sand them down to flatten/level out the swelling & use some gorilla glue on the inside seams for strength, shoot some black paint on them & use them as is for awhile until you decide if you want to have new cabinets made. also, used OEM tweeter diaphrams come up for sale quite often for a lot cheaper than new titanium diaphrams, & thats all thats needed to get the tweets working again. also being they are so rough & have some blown tweeters, you can probably get them for less that $300. whatever you do keep this thread updated or if you part them out im sure the parts will sell quick on here.2 points

Saw Monk, Parker...etc. on the Ken Burns Jazz. As typical, can recommend as he and team taking the time to cover historically the jazz movement in a professional way. Another segment this week on PBS...2 points

I wish I had some of these Riverside recordings on vinyl... They are on cd now, of course, but the tactile experience of vinyl and that TD24 must be quite something!2 points

Well, Randy as I clearly stated in the first post ......... "Let me warn you that if you insist that speaker cabinets must look like speaker cabinets or that black grill cloth is mandatory you are not going to like this thread. If so, then move on or the subsequent photos will only irritate you and create bad feelings. There is no need for that. The strategy is to think of the all the possible cosmetics for the Jubilee as falling along a continuum with traditional speaker cabinetry being at one end and the other end being more akin to disguising or hiding these big beasts behind something like a Japanese room divider or shoji screen. I am toward this end of the continuum. You have already been warned that this approach is not for everyone and you may get irritated with what follows." ....... and it looks like you got irritated Good Luck, -Tom2 points

This was started with 4k Blu-ray players. Since a lot of receivers don't have 4k passthrough, manufacturers added an extra hdmi for audio only so one hdmi went to the receiver and the other straight to the display. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk2 points

I have had Chorus 2s for several years now. Most of those years tethered to a NAD C372 (150Wx2) with a NAD C162 preamp, which I thought sounded pretty good. Not lacking to be sure. Recently an Emotiva XPA2-GEN3 (300Wx2) with a NAD C165 preamp fell into my livingroom. I had NO idea what I was missing until now. Punchier, tighter, lower, WELL-defined bass! Even my 13 year old son came downstairs the first week and asked where all the bass came from. An unexpected, yet familiar, by-product of all of this is that the volume level at which I become engaged in the music has actually gotten LOWER. Very much like when I finally took the plunge on LaScalas. Nobody needs a Hemi to drive around the block, but there is no replacement for displacement.2 points

The CDBR and HDBR were a particular build type for those speaker models, and they were both replaced by the HBR and the CBR which had identical motor-boards to the finely veneered versions of those speakers. Actually, the Decorator versions had a better chance of surviving a long drop onto a front corner of the speaker, simply due to the box construction itself. The Decorator versions had the top edge of the motor-board lapping over the front edge of the top panel, and the bottom edge of the motor-board lapped over the front edge of the bottom panel, then the front edge of the side panels lapped over both the motor-board and the top and bottom panels, which made the box stronger at all four front corners of the assembly for a drop test situation on any of those four front corners.2 points

With a nice glass of vino, I am enjoying this on the alternate movie audio system here in Longfellow Music Hall this evening. The Marantz 6011 in discrete 2 CH mode through the newer Klipsch PR-600M standmounts and of course, my old Dual 506 TT from the late 70ies. Under amber spotlighting, here is a photo......2 points

The hardware is made by D-Link, uses a sim card like a cell phone. Bought it through US Cellular when I signed up for the plan. Unfortunately no other good options that far out but it is a game changer for us allowing us to work remotely from there. , I am looking forward to seeing how the Space-X internet works once they have it up and running.1 point

Ya, I know that you looking but in my defense while picking up my dog from trainer I stopped by and found an open box 160 and pulled the trigger. I think I priced the 151 at the low end for us.1 point

Finally. Proud new owner of Cornwall IV's in American Walnut. I should have done this a long time ago. Purchased from local dealer, ListenUp. Though ListenUp is not a Certified Heritage Dealer, they sell the whole line and had them in stock. Some 30 years ago I purchased a pair of Forte II's from this dealer, from a salesman named Gary. Why I remember that, I don't know. So I called them up, on a Thursday, asked for Gary (he's still there, though higher up in the food chain, I'm sure!). "Can you have them at my house tomorrow, cuz I'm going out of town Saturday?" He told me that he had to get them from the warehouse in Denver (I'm in Colorado Springs). He guaranteed me he would get them to my house if he had to deliver them himself. Next day he shows up in he own car, a Nissan Cube or something like that. He laughed and said his car is apparently designed to perfectly fit a pair of Cornwalls. These things are truly glorious! My hopes/expectations were sky high. They have been met. This is the best sound I have ever had. Ever.1 point

Truthfully, the only way to know which you like better is to try it out in different configurations. It's not just about the DAC chip and implementation but also about the analog stages and other factors. My Yamaha CD-S1000 has the PCM1796(192kHz/24bit) which is +/- 95% same as the PCM1795 but with 24bit vs 32bit. Bill1 point

Pretty nice review of the 10's. At that price could buy one or so 12. Think you would enjoy another 10. Enjoy!1 point

Just for reference.....I am going to be using it with a pair of The Sixes. Definitely lean rock with the music that I listen to....so a nice easy roll into mids of the Sixes would be nice. Also why I am wondering if the 10" would be a little more musical and less boomy.1 point
