  1. I've done some direct scans of 3D items, like coins and "flat" flowers, also used it as a surrogate microscope; scan at highest res and them use Zoom feature in my photo app de jure. By this method, I was able to show an engineer some galling on a fastener. He suspected it but we had no microscopes over 10X around. Here's a Bird of Paradise with some black cloth behind it (lid of scanner up)

  8. yeah I know I could find the answer myself, just trying to engage with others, that whole conversation thing -- I've been told that I need to do that more often. I suck at it; but thought I'd give it a whirl. I'm the guy that politely turns down 99% of invitations -- sometimes I get scolded for that. even passed on a chance for a Queen concert once and everyone here knows how much I love their music. some things don't come easy.

  11. I use it every night as a sleep aid. I have four herniated disks and arthritis in my neck, hip, and hands ... pain everyday and sleeping is hard because I can't get in a position that doesn't cause pain. Eating a gummy before bedtime helps me sleep better. Last night, I only had 1 and a half gummies and I really wouldn't want to be much higher than that. Those days of massive excess are behind me ... I'm not a young man anymore. My doctor tried to prescribe me Gabypentin. The pharmacist asks if I've ever taken it and I say no. she says that it slows down the central nervous system. I tell her that I have asthma and sleep apnea and could that slow down my nervous system to the point that I wake up dead ... she says yes that it possible. So, I didn't take any. I don't think marijuana is as hard on the body as many narcotics.

  12. Myself I think it should be legal for medical everywhere, 99.9% of prescriptions have some kind of side effect with some being terrible or addictive. If that would work for some people with less side effects I see no reason to not have it prescribed in one form or another. Yes 30 grams is more than ounce, that made me think someone who smokes picked that number..........I can see it now.......I buy an ounce and it's a couple grams over I will still be ok. That's a good number lets use that.

  13. well that's over an ounce of pot and at today's potency, that should last a person a good while until they're totally spacemen. While I support medical marijuana use, my friends were surprised a few years ago when it was on the ballot in California (recreational use) and I was against it. Don't try to figure me out.

Should hammer em and go but nope not me. JJ Cale's sounding pretty good though. That place of yours @dtel looks great! Ya got it all workin 'cept for one thing. Ya want me to drag that stripper pole out and bring it down for the pilgrimage? Could take it to your place, do the install, gimme a couple days in the local bars then we'd close em all down w/the women who follow me back to your place. Slushie boy @ the bar? Gold mine! or not? 20. I like the way the Nikon D700 renders colors. I know it is ancient in terms of digital technology (2008) and only 12 MB, but I like the images it produces. These shots were taken in various places around Vancouver while on a family vacation in 2018.

  23. More key variables to be considered: The audience is typically old men with a certain degree of hearing loss. We sit about 50 yards away sitting by a bonfire drinking moonshine. Plus, we have also been drinking all day. Are you picking up what I am putting down? We are usually asleep by the time the police find us.

  28. Directly from Mike Embers at Acoustic Sound Design. ā€Klipsch will be sending you a new pair... They have all the information needed... I am not sure if they want me to pick up other pair or if they will do it at same time as delivery... As soon as I have info-you will have it as wellā€ then this from Klipsch. ā€œWe are Swapping out. On back order until Mid April missing parts-Covid...but will get as soon as we can. Will send you tracking as soon as we can. We will pick up the old ones after delivery of the new. Please tell them toUse the old until then. Apologize for us of courseā€ Of which is fine with me. Timeline of events. I received the speakers Friday Feb. 26th and immediately noticed the finish on them, emailed Mike on Sunday the 28th and he responded right away that day Sunday! He handled talking with Klipsch VP and everything was done by Tuesday March 2nd. I just wanted to give a shout out to Mike Embers and Acoustic Sound Design for the outstanding customer service. In my opinion this is a rarity these days.

  30. Yes, dead is a really bad side effect, it's proven to work to really help in many ways, like you said it's not as hard on the body, but works well for some things with less side effects if any. We cause enough problems for ourselves, we don't need to solve a problem to get another one possibly worse.

  31. that is a good point. Before my brother got ill, he was a manager of a major grocery store and that company's policy regarding shoplifting was NOT to stop the person, just call the police. When I was in college, a professor told us of (can't recall the name associated to it) but to paraphrase, no matter how unbelievable a premise is, you will find roughly 12% that will believe it. I'd be curious what the percentage of anti-maskers is? I personally don't know of anyone that refuses to wear one ... I have a few relatives that refuse to be vaccinated though. If we view protection protocols as a service to others, it's not that much to ask. I love my guitars; but If I was actually hurting people by playing them ... I'd quit in a heartbeat. self-pleasure needs to be knocked down a few notches for the GG. (for those of you that aren't fans of the show MONK, the GG means the greater good).

  32. You can buy beer or wine just nothing harder, I guess because everyone knows you can not get drunk on beer or wine. It's crazy, your not even supposed to have hard liquor, I doubt they could enforce it. I don't know if your not supposed to consume it or not? I would need to look up local laws. If your a smoker the law is..and medical was passed last year with over 73% of the vote...... Cannabis possession was decriminalized in 1978. Conviction for the possession of up to 30 grams of cannabis can result in a $250 fee without an associated criminal penalty. They should be more worried about meth and crack heads, and general criminals, usually the same bunch.

  33. I know I hear crowd noise in concerts but effects in movies seem few and far between. However, I also dont stand back there listening for them. They are nice big Olā€™ rear surrounds and look cool hanging from my floor joists bracket aiming down toward us. BUT, I have read somewhere 5.2.2 can be better option than 7.2. I guess only one way to find out.

But, if the metal sweats, I guess you'd have to be careful not to put any electronics close to the walls. I'm not a contractor so I'm just guessing.

  41. It had a little smell but not real strong, it was called western red cedar, so I think that a little different then the other cedar ? Or it was just really dried out ? I never realized what could happen with the oils in some of this wood. I once had a bunch of Mahogany to plane smooth, it was summer so I never had a shirt on. The next day my whole stomach and chest had hundreds of small red bumps, the wife took me to the hospital and they could not figure out what it was. That night I remember planning the wood and figured it was from being hit with tiny pieces of dust with that wood oil on it, it was just a guess and it went away the next day. Should have thought of that before I sat in the hospital for a couple hours, but it was the first time I heard a doctor say " I have no idea what it is".

  43. The building was up for a year, I got bored took down those boards and put them on a table and did that. I tried a dremel first and it was very slow. So I took the bottom plate off the router and put a bit in it kind of shaped like a V and just held it in my hand like a dremel, this was much faster. Safe, probably not but as long as I didn't drop it in my lap it was fine. Then on the edge of the pond on the bar side is red cedar boards, there is a different design on each one. I asked someone since I can't draw how can I get designs on the boards to carve, they had a very simple idea. Find designs you want and print them, use carbon paper and draw over the design and the carbon paper will mark the wood. It worked great and was easy. Sone a just drawn some are with the stencil, just odd designs.

  45. Welcome to the forum @TnGuy, and congratulations on your purchase. I can see how the terminals on your main speakers will confuse you, but luckily there's an easy explanation... šŸ™‚ Let's take the bottom set of terminals first: those are the terminals for the main speaker, and if you look carefully, you will see that the two sets of terminals are actually bridged together with metal straps. You can connect your front left and right channels on your receiver to either of these sets of terminals. I normally just connect to the bottom pair. So for the left Front channel, connect black from your receiver Front Left channel to black on the bottom terminal and red to the red, etc. Don't remove the metal straps, as these are bridging the tweeter and woofers together. If you wanted to power the tweeter and woofers separately, you could remove the bridging straps and connect an output from an amp/receiver to the tweeter terminal and then another output to the woofer terminal... but this is definitely not needed or recommended, and you don't have enough channels on your receiver to do this anyway. So leave the straps in place and just connect to one of the terminals. Now that you have your mains connected, let's look at the top set of terminals. These are for your Dolby Atmos height channels. The speakers are located on the top of the speaker box and are designed to fire up towards your ceiling and then reflect back down to your listening position, attempting to simulate overhead height speakers. This gets a little tricky, and I had to look it up in your owners manual to ensure I'm giving you accurate instructions. You need to connect the top terminals on your front (main) speakers to the terminals labeled "Surround Back" on your receiver. You will then go into the receiver settings and Set ā€œAssign Modeā€ to ā€œFront Dolbyā€ in the menu for a 7.1-channel (front Dolby Atmos Enabled speaker) system. I hope this isn't too confusing, but here are some pictures from your owners manual to help explain the Atmos speaker setup: Example connections when using front Dolby Atmos Enabled speakers This 7.1-channel surround system is the same as a basic 5.1-channel system but with front Dolby Atmos Enabled speakers. Set ā€œAssign Modeā€ to ā€œFront Dolbyā€ in the menu. link
