  3. Yes - My wife and I live close to the Marina and many days we do a loop from SJC to the Marina and Beach Rd and back - a nice 12 mile ride - on warmer days we ride the San Clemente Pier or all the way to Trestles which is a 20 mile round trip ride and so much fun.

  4. Peter Green ripped this one out in 1970 his first after leaving Fleetwood Mac. Totally free form and unrestrained with him, I think, making a fashion statement. Great album with a very different sound.

  5. Welllllll, I kinda declined a friends live-in of her Bday party tonite. Schitt happens but I wasn't feelin it. Just kinda mentioned soooo I didn't swallow the hook. Time to get MY groove on instead of spinnng for everyone else. Sure they love the tunes how could they not??? lol Feelin a lil "me" time tonight! Been a while and with his recent passing I felt I kinda owed it to him. Such a great guy workin out on that lil Les Paul Jr. Felix Papallardi like to take the credit for his work but Leslie West had a following before Felix. Mountain & "Twin Peaks" is always a fav. So many contributing artists on this album it's kinda amazing in itself. http://www.bluesblastmagazine.com/leslie-west-soundcheck-album-review/ "SoundCheck" has some really great tunes for sure! "Still Climbing" is his 15th LP released in 2013 and another great LP of his. One of the founding members of Mountain NEVER had a problem pulling in the guns for his albums. He just jams in his own way and gets it done EVERYtime! Lucky to get one signed. It's a fav as is "Mountain."

  7. is the only water you should use to saturate your solder tool sponges with. Don't use tap water to wipe your soldering tool tips clean, the Chlorine, Fluorine and salts will corrode the plating on the tip and shorten tip life by half. It's literally free at our supermarket (0.99/gallon) with 3 year shelf life. To be called distilled, the total solids content can't exceed 10ppm which is pretty spectacular given your paying about a buck for a gallon. Don't use Di-ionized water either, it will attack the tip.

  8. This MAY be the same guy who was unloading hundreds of LP's who was also in Pickerington. I was the first one in about 1.5 years ago and the guy gave me two hours to look thru these: Now double what you see! He had tons! I put the hustle on 'em. No talkin just lookin and pullin. So he decided to help me by taking them and stacking them for me. Only problem was if it was something really good he put them in his "keeper" tub. Then he was adjusting prices on them as we went so I had him start diff piles so I'd know what I was spending. In all, it wasn't a bad day but he called "time" exactly 2 hours from the start. I got there 20 minutes early yet he wouldn't let me go down to look until the "correct" time. Even told me to come back in 20 minutes if you can believe that. Overall a nice guy but just a bit quirky w/a nice home and a garage full of receivers, etc he bought at auctions. The ONLY reason I'm saying anything is because he did have a crap ton of CD's but wasn't selling them yet, the room was almost the same exact color of gray and the racks looked the same as the pic. Just a heads up. I'd venture to say he's already sold the majority of the good stuff if he only wants $150 for the lot. Or... ? He was even nice enough to call me back and offer me more that hadn't sold 3 months later! Seriously??? If you're going msg me and we can compare names... Didn't see any polka music though! hahahaha

  17. Good evening (morning) my vinyl friends.............well, here it is, a FRIDAY evening and I wanted to add some vinyl spin tonight over in RTM forum, so, as usual, I ALWAYS come to make a stop, read the post on this current page and give the 'likes' and such. So, here then, a recent James Taylor recording I purchaced on LP.... Here is the cover art.....

  18. This next track is one of the hardest to play from the King Crimson repertoire One literally needs to practice on a daily basis for years to even attempt it But this has been written for a string orchestra and it’s not a bad job

  19. I like the attention to detail in your setup. 👍 I'm not sure how you would mount an RS-3 for an Atmos speaker but I like your willingness to try a speaker setup that is out-of-the-box thinking. When I try that it doesn't always work out so good, like my bright idea to bi-amp using the RF-83's bottom section and the HF section from the RP-600M. Bzzzt! Big time fail. The bi-amped Frankenspeakers sounded worse together than either pair did by themselves.

  24. Second item you have available. You seem to have almost everything that everyone wants lately. That's certainly is possible, but please understand my skepticism. Please post a photo of the this item in this include a piece of paper with the date in the photo. Again, no offense intended, nothing personal, we watch out for each other here, like family. Thanks, Travis

  25. Issues with KLF series to know about #1) loose baffles (front and back) due to defective hot melt adhesive on the melamine. Remove the melamine at the joint reassemble with white wood glue will be much better than new and last forever. #2) Black poly tweeter diaphragms the worst Klipsch ever used replace them. 3) Woofer dust caps coming loose easy to repair. 4) Upgrade crossover caps. 5) Brace work. That's all the big stuff there are lots of mods folks can do to take them further if they want to. Excellent speakers.

  26. Every K-55 Atlas driver I ever curved, including the ones with Solder Terminals, tanked at 6 Khz. Crossing at 4500 means the tweeter creates wider dispersion at those frequencies on up where it takes over.

  27. Looks like that is going to a good home . Best thing is that Sancho had just paid it forward in a similar fashion .... I urge others to do the same. I had recently given a co worker a receiver and KG 1s., it’s a good way to put unused gear back in service. And it feels good doing it.

  29. Wife has been on me to find/sign up for the shot. Not to sound macho (as those of you who have met me know I'm not)....I'm not inherently a worrier....nor am I too worried about the vaccine or the virus. That said I am on an immune suppressant so she's been hounding me to get stuck. Last week, took implement tire (tire from 15' mower) to shop to get new tire. Told them I was fine for several days, probably come back "next Saturday" to check on it (today) This morning, I'm getting the dogs out, fed, double checked something for work, called the Co-Op to verify that tire was done.....I get a phone call from my brother in law. He lets me know that they are giving the shots at a "local" high school (about 30 miles away) with no line and it's the Jansen shot which is a single shot. My initial reaction was there are probably others who need it more than I (feel) I do....I don't want to step in front of someone but, I'll tell the wife so maybe she can go down. (you might know how that conversation went) So I headed North 12 miles to pick my finished tire up to now, turn around and drive about 40 miles south to see what it's all about. Find the high school and indeed, there are three feeder lanes heading back to near the football/track field and as the field curved, the traffic followed. Nobody to ask so figured I'd jump in line and see what happens.....figure it out on the fly so to speak. I must say, whoever planned it out did a superb job. Various police there to keep things going smoothly. EMS parked there near the waiting area on stand by. Went to first station, got my papers. Filled them out during the start/stop to the next station where she photo copied my drivers license and insurance card. Went to third station where she stabbed me. Got directed to the football field parking lot to wait my 15 minutes to watch for any negative reaction...... felt fine.... so pulled out and came home. During my journey, my brother in law had gotten his and from the time I got mine, called my sister in law to let her know how fast it was (she lives in that town) she got in, stabbed and out before I could even drive home. My wife is now preparing to jump into her car to go to her sisters and get her own shot. So far, (knocking on wood) this has been pretty uneventful for me/us. Hopefully it's not the quiet before the storm. My understanding is tomorrow my arm will be feeling the pain?? (no idea)

  30. So, once again I am contemplating a 3rd Epic CF3 to use as a center channel, which I have been lazily doing for the last 10 years or so. 🤔 I have passed up on quite a few opportunities over the years to fulfill that desire, one reason being, how content I've been with the KLF C-7 doing the job, the other based on the fact that the desire was not that strong and so didn't feel like going to get them 🚚then schlep them to their final resting place, one in play up the stairs, another collecting dust in the garage. I would prefer one Epic only, in Southern California, no more than a 20 minutes drive, kidding 😀, but closer the better to overcome my inertia. I would also of course be open to splitting a pair if someone has a similar interest.

  31. Yeah I'm fixing to head to the local audio repair here shortly pick up a couple of 3:amp fuses, actually I'm going to buy a few 2 see what the limits are on these before they blow, if they blow. My Crites diaphragm should be here today, hopefully they are at least as good as the original phenolic. I've had very nice outcomes with their products in the past so I expect no different but time will tell. Thanks

  33. MookieStl, I understand that. I also noticed a lot that I thought was problematic. I just thought it could help others who wanted to build them or check the dimensions. I might post a separate thread for those who forge ahead and build their own. btw, the pdf is a 24x36 in. sheet. It should print tiled on 4 11x17 pages with only slight scaling. Might also include drawings of the Peavey FH-1, as it is really an easier build and doesn't suffer with the parallel walls on each side.

  35. I used to have a dual, a fine turntable, as a student, and later when I was moving out to my apartment. But then I got children and the tt moved to the attic. Then, when preparing to move to a new house, I brought the dual tt to the local recycling facility... Still regret that day.. Anyhow, there's a lot of text on the back of the cover of that James Taylor album. What is is it about?

  36. I have been fortunate to find another of the scarce F3’s so the F3 vs J2 comparison has come to an end. The J2 was sold to a forum member and the two F3 are being run as monoblocks. Very satisfied with the outcome and being able to prove my ambition to run monoblock F3’s with special thanks to Nelson Pass and Forum buddy MikeB.

  39. I have CF4s and own both the KV4 and the KLF-C7. I prefer the KLF-C7. I know the KV4 has the same tweeter as my CF4s but it just doesn't sound the same. Maybe it's the smaller horn lens? Maybe it's the woofers? Either way, I went with what my ears told me. If you have access to both, buy both and sell the one that doesn't make the cut in your system with your ears.

  40. For that price, I believe you should do it. I believe it will be an upgrade over your current center channel. The problem is, you might get upgradeitis and continue to upgrade the rest of the speakers. Good luck on your journey

  41. I agree and use direct firing speakers in that location along with the same in the rear. I did not realize that and will do some research. I actually think it started changing when Dolby Digital was introduced. The WDST speakers were invented for the Dolby Pro Logic era where the surround was matrixed. The WDST speakers still worked well for multiple seating in a 5.1 environment and why they are still popular today. Fwiw, we have a focused (in the middle) MLP with side surrounds directly to the sides and the rears about 9 ft back. Our last 3 AVRs really did a nice job converting side surround material in 5.1 to a 7.1 format....With the Denon AVR-4311ci we've been running "9.2" and love it. Thank you! I still am going to do more research but may weigh against it. I was planning on securing them under that board using the keyhole along with something that would keep them from falling...Still considering ideas and why I started the thread. 😬 Whoa! When I first got in the hobby back in the late 90s I was only into movies and then I bought my first concert video and never listened to two channel again. I have an embarrassing collection of multichannel music now that is my favorite genre. Anyway, my first couple of AVRs i was able to hook up 2 sets of side surrounds, one for movies and the other for music so I came up with this: RF-3 Side Surrounds for SACDs/DVD-As and RS-7s for Movies.

  43. I've heard that. It seems like whoever is in charge of determining specs for surround sound systems has now transitioned away from the bi-poles. I wonder what changed? I have the strong RS-62's for side surrounds in a 5.4 setup and I have some RP-600M's that could be pressed into side surround duty if need be, but jeez they sound so good I would hate to pull them from the Mancave TV 2.1 system. I really love the 600M's.

  44. It´s a couple of weeks ago that I used my TT , using more digital sources because of the burn in peroid from the new tubes from my tube mono amps. Guy´s ...I tell you ....That´s an never ending musical and dreamlike audiophile journey once I switch on the power buttoms. But it´s time to start my TT Sessions again, got enough records that I haven´t listen to for a very long time. So ..mates ....

  46. There are many factors at play in trade offs when balancing the design of a loudspeaker. Depending on the final loudspeaker goals there can be real advantages to using a single 12” versus dual 12” or larger woofer diameter drivers especially when driver volume loading of the back chamber is locked in of which one would be a greater low frequency extension. Trust Roy he knows a few things about loudspeaker design...😁 miketn
