  1. Making mummies? Is that like 1 oz doobies? We did that before the Outlaws played once here at the Coliseum! EZWider UnRolling was the brand and type that made that possible That stuff unrolled like an ace bandage! Last night just took a shower and hit the sack. Ok fast forward to tonight and I've downed that shot already and am feeling like celebrating! But I must r e l a x & temper myself first. Those twenty something cute kids with the cherub like faces are freakin vipers in disguise! They've gone for the throat: offered ten k over my higher-side asking, would pay all fees for inspections and closing... even the delinquent tax that was due 1/1. Another nice kid offered a number that was exactly the same as the national home flipping co. did last week. Hmmm. He said he works in realty somehow. Hmmm. It was a low-balled offer that I calmly declined both times. I'm thinking there's a "Tool Time" Blue Book for realtors and that's the wholesale price equivalent. Going to hold the course for a week at least and see if the insane sellers market in this burg has struck someone even more so. Six new showings today plus two repeats.

  8. I always replaced those brass jumpers with 12ga speaker wire and I swear I could tell some difference. At least I could on the Klipsch CF-3's and KLF-30's I had. It's sure easy to try and cheap.

  10. Haven't had much time to listen but have enjoyed the downtime when I can. It'll sort this weekend with rain moving in. Won't be long and Paul will be shoveling snow down under. 😂 Mountain's "Flowers Of Evil" got played the other day just cause. Haven't played this one in years! Miss those guys cause they did crank out some good stuff back in 1908. Released in 1971 it was their 3rd album and one about drug abuse in Vietnam by the troops. Really? hahaha The second side was recorded live @ the Fillmore East in NYC. Great old album. Drug abuse in Nam? Never happened. 😂 Vintage Yardbirds feat. Sonny Boy Williamson on harmonica? Crazy if ya don't and ya like all the old Yardbirds stuff. Mastered from old UK recorded sessions w/Sonny Boy on the mouth harp? It's got some flavor to it if ya know what I mean add Page and it's a winner. Not fantastic by any means but it's a nice listen if you can remember just how things were "back in the day." Just released Volume 2 so guess we'll have to see how that works too! A few other new ones I didn't take pics of since I was enjoying my "me" time on the couch chillin. I'll get there soon. lol

  12. Ahhh! Sounds kind of like the title of one of my most played LPs ever. "The Wild, the Willing & the Innocent" another 70s release of course. Great dance music if you are me! If this works I'll christen my new digs with it, hope the bears won't mind it! Heck I just hope to escape the sand as quick as I can. Used to love it, but that's past tense. * It was `81 when that came out

Mornin' All About halfway through this pot of coffee. No real plans for the day. Another red flag fire day. Humidity is LOW... Dew point was -12`F with an R/H of 2%. Might be a day to go fishing.... after I water the garden.

  16. First of all, I would like to thank all the participants in this thread. the guy who sells LaScalas lets me listen to them only if I buy them: I'm sorry but this is not acceptable to me: I don't buy anything if I can't try before buying. Now I will search a shop in which I can listen them. I live in Italy and it isn't so easy to found a shop where I can found them. I'm a bit more careful about my choise: I love my KLF30's and there are wonderful with the music I love. Maybe I should buy something with more bass than Lascalas (Cornwalls? Fortes?) So I'll let you know when I get to listen them. Thank you againg for your useful advice. 😘

  27. It seems we would need to have at least 70% of our population either vaccinated or infected to be able to reach the Herd Immunity threshold: Herd immunity and COVID-19 (coronavirus): What you need to know - Mayo Clinic From the link: Even if infection with the COVID-19 virus creates long-lasting immunity, a large number of people would have to become infected to reach the herd immunity threshold. Experts estimate that in the U.S., 70% of the population — more than 200 million people — would have to recover from COVID-19 to halt the epidemic.

  28. Right now it appears we are gearing up towards 30 to 35% here in the next week or two: US Coronavirus Vaccine Progress Tracker | Vaccinations by State | USAFacts At least 112,046,611 people or 34% of the population have received at least one dose. Overall, 61,317,491 people or 18% of the population have been fully vaccinated.

  30. I've got an idea.... maybe Klipsch can send each of us some (ahem) "inventory" you know.... Khorns, Heresy's.... and WE can be the customers help though we might get the benefit of using said item in the meantime. I think that's a grand idea.

  32. Wow, that is literally the exact one. The KHorn might be the P9000 and the Heresy the P2000, as the KHorn has a slight faded browse/silver. My Heresys look just like the P2000 one, all silver. Either would be great. I'll reach out tomorrow and ask on those, and yup, only need enough for the face of the 64. Thanks so much. Will update when I hear back.

  36. Appreciate the sentiment folks. The down but not up in price? Mix-up with that but the listing came through at that site I was trying to get national access too. With closing costs so high I need to hit a much more broad base of perspective buyers. Can't touch what a realtor would offer in that regard but it's a start for me. Plus I've seen how one of those sites appears to copy info from another, hopefully in my category of how I'm doing this also. Looks like the precip will start as showers tonight, so I've got to get the first coat of paint on the metal that I'm glad I finally got to. Phone's charging got to call that guy that talked to my phone at 10:30 last night, I barely heard that.

  37. That scooter might make a 2hr run....I think distance traveled is the issue, though. I live 60 miles from a big/ger hospital. Only an hour drive. -------------------------------------- We have a patch of lawn on our acre. Just a patch. House 800 - 900sq.ft. @JohnJ, like I need to remind you... size up rooms for the stereo. We have 3 rooms that aren't twice as long as deep. One room is 14ft square... unfortunately, it's the kitchen. Another room that's ~10 X 10, and the bathroom - it's 8 X 8... No room for LS in them. Our livingroom is 12 X 25.... I had to put speakers on the long wall. Still considering making a sub out the the old upright piano. Not getting rid of the wood in the piano. It's near 100yr old. A '29 Packard...if my memory serves me. Moving the sound board might present some challenges...

Plant some tomatoes and maybe a trip to the lake. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Need to flush the coffee machine. We have a red blinky. Time to get a box of filters.... Every 6 months..200 in a box. Watched the NCAA women's final. Arizona put on a good show. Wasn't expecting it to be that close. Was entertaining, at least. Cleaned the doghouse yesterday. Vacuumed, too. .... Most of what I cleaned up was green. Was a time, I could/would have saved the sweepings...lol Plugged in the A/C and gave it a test run.

  41. The lady who wrote that is a "health and wellness" counselor not a scientist. It's clearly marked "Opinion." Is this what you mean when you refer to "other medical personnel"? Do you have an article or study by a scientist, somebody with at least some letters after their name, in the applicable field? If so I would be sincerely interested in reading it. "Scientists" and "Other medical personnel" when it comes to vaccinations, typically (when you look) are trying to sell you crystals they just happen to have, or supplements they have developed that are just as, if not more, effective and "all natural." Some, like Mercola, sell supplements and now have giant homes in Florida. They are labeled quacks because they typically are. They typically don't practice medicine. It's "alternative medicine" or "natural medicine". Their money is made on selling you "supplements" only they have. They are typically hucksters and charlatans. The supplement industry is big, big business (apparently so are crystals) and they will claim whatever the law will allow, and typically just a little bit more. They are not just "labeled" quacks, their exaggerated, false, superious claims are litigated in administrative hearings and court, and they have an opportunity to defend their claims, with science. If they can, great, if not, they are a quack - which means if you listen to this person, your health, or even life, could be in serious jeopardy. By the way, here is the rebuttal to that article, by people with letters after their name, and who have solid experience, in the field: http://www.rationalistjudaism.com/2021/01/guest-post-why-you-should-take-vaccine.html

  43. Not exactly qualifying as work.. but got a lot of s-g trim done today. Last one I heard before stopping is what I heard at the Omni one night a long time ago. The Fixx played first though, just one after another not much banter. Was only a couple months after their big LP came out. Wish I still had that Synchronicity t-shirt. Funny how some things like that leave with someone that came over.

  45. Wearing a simple face mask and washing your hands and keeping a distance is far from being quarantined. Now maybe where you live they have to shut down because people are too proud or dumb to do the aforementioned. Too bad so sad.... if the simple measure are too tough then the tough measures come next. George Washington kept his army in quarantine to avoid infected cities. Yeah - reverse isolation is not new. It is old. If the sick cannot be isolated then you isolate the healthy away from the sick. Epidemiology, it’s a wonderful subject. You seem quite willing to accept death in seeking to achieve herd immunity. I guess you’d also just stop treating certain demographics as you clearly find being elderly and infirm as unworthy of concern. How about the obese of any age - are they not worth treating? Surely drug addicts and alcoholics would not meet your standards of concern. We would have to draw some lines. We cannot physically take care of the critically sick. There’s too many. Maybe a guy like you would resort to euthanasia, y’know like proactive hospice. And what about covid19 variants. I mean you almost sound intelligent (AKA brain trust) so you must understand that the more people get infected the greater the opportunity for mutations of the virus. Would it matter if covid19 mutated into a variant that killed children and young people at the same rate? I do not know what your acumen is. Let’s say your an accountant. You are educated and have your CPA. Would it be smart for people to hire you to organize their businesses and/or do their taxes.......or would they be smarter to do it by themselves? They’d be stupid to not hire somebody who knows what to do. Same goes for an auto mechanic. So what makes YOU feel that you understand how best to manage medical issues for which you have zero training? Sorry covid19 has impacted your life so badly. Blame it on China. Blame it on the other folks who refuse to do the easy things. Hope you and yours (elders included) all survive.

  47. Confused ... Always thought PWK used Baltic Birch plywood in his Heritage (raw birch) cabinets ... But; maybe NOT? Currently trying a "new" center speaker; a Yamaha Stage Monitor (SM12, 12" woofer, 14x8" horn w/2" voice-coil ... yeah; know it is "blasphemy" but pretty impressed with it ). WAF is 0/10 due to "rat fur" cloth on the box. So was going to build a cabinet for it similar to a Heresy.. A local supplier has "real" Baltic Birch ... not the "crap stuff" from Home Depot. Looking closer, BB has about 12 ply's; all real birch and all the same thickness. When I checked my Heresy I's and Cornwall I's, they show 7 layers (unknown material) with a super thin birch veneer Disappointed ?? Was going to leave the edges exposed (as in the original HI's) , but undecided whether to use real BB or plain Birch ply. (Yes; I will probably be the only one that will notice it ) As a side question ... my HI's and CWI's are pretty dark due to age and many oil applications. Think Baltic Birch is even lighter than (C-2 natural) Birch, so wondering if I can ever match the color Many thanks, Emile

  48. It all depends on WHEN the speakers were made. Early on, Heresys, Cornwall, LaScala, and Klipschorn speakers were made out of marine-grade fir plywood, if they were "decorators". But the finely-veneered speakers used poplar lumber core plywood, the same stuff used in most large panel furniture of the time. Then they went to 7-ply (5 core plys with two veneer plys) custom-made "void-free" birch plywood for the decorator series into the birch raw series of speaker styles. In the latter part of the 1970's Klipsch got a real "deal" on some Baltic birch plywood bundles...in various sizes and thicknesses. They immediately looked for ways to utilize this stuff, and the first thing to get Baltic biirch used in it was the Klipschorn bass bin, where the 1/2" fir marine-grade plywood was replaced with the 9-ply Baltic birch in approximately 1/2" thicknesses. Most of the formerly used 1/2" fir marine grade plywood panels used in the construction of the K-horn bass bin were replaced by this Baltic birch, which stiffened up the bass bin cabinet immensely, in addition to making the job of keeping things "square" in its assembly process a much easier endeavor. Baltic birch plywood's biggest problem from a production point of view is its density and the multiple layers of urea-formaldehyde glue used in it. This causes it to require redesign of some assembly details in order to utilize it. For example(s), staples and finish nail guns are pretty much not gonna be able to penetrate and have to be replaced with other types of fasteners, AND the wear and tear on cutting edges, such as router bits, and saw blades is drastically increased, when using Baltic birch....sometimes to the point of creating more dangerous working conditions, as when the brazed-in edge of an industrial router bit explodes out of the bit in pieces ...or if one of the brazed-in saw teeth comes flying out while using a table saw. So if the construction process goes from using staples and/or finishing nails from pneumatic guns, to having to pre-drill holes in order to use wood screws, then you have increased the production costs in both materiel AND labor hours involved.
