  1. I was skeptical for a long time, then took the plunge. Have the mower, blower, stick edger and string trimmer. Bye bye gas equipment, at least for my yard.

  2. Truth be told, the snowblower was delivered in April; never got to use it. The mower was delivered on Thursday. Today will be it’s maiden run. Fortunately, it uses the same battery and charger as the snowblower. The mower uses a single battery, whereas the snowblower uses two batteries. My neighbor’s brother works for EGO, so I got really great deals on both. I plan to not buy another internal combustion engine.

See my old man's got a problem He live with the bottle that's the way it is He says his body's too old for working His body's too young to look like his My mama went off and left him She wanted more from life than he could give I said somebody's got to take care of him So I quit school and that's what I did

  6. My neighbor is retired, up there in age and is losing his mind. I swear he mows his lawn three times a day even when there's snow on the ground. That thing is so damn loud and he scalps it right down to the dirt....all season long. Then he puts a plow on it for the snow. You gotta see this operation.....LOL Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk

  8. A neighbor has the mower and it's kind of funny. Drove by and his yard was mowed and I didn't hear him mowing. Kinda strange til I realized he had the mower. Ya ALWAYS hear ppl mowing here in the hood. Will be strange someday when those mowers take over. Quiet as a church mouse in the hood? Seriously? Then ya can't mumble "NOW who the heck is out mowing!" He loves his.

  10. are pensions even offered any more? None of the jobs I ever had gave one... kinda figures ... considering I barely made blue collar. Had a lady friend drop in yesterday. It was a little awkward. We haven't seen each other for several [7 or 8] years. You know how that works... the phone call asking if the number still belongs to...and is the other person still "around"... We had a nice visit.

  20. The current status of loudspeaker specifications (in my opinion) isn't terribly good-especially if applied to fully horn-loaded loudspeakers. I'd add that the reason why a lot of people prefer the sound of horn-loaded loudspeakers--those measures (modulation and compression distortion levels) aren't even mentioned in their specifications--relative to direct radiating loudspeakers (fully horn loaded loudspeakers effectively have zero modulation and compression distortion relative to direct radiators, and virtually no one understands or remembers this point). The efficiency of horn-loaded loudspeakers isn't well suited to voltage sensitivity measures, and as Mark(?--Gnarly) has pointed out, nowadays each channel needs to be EQed flat to compensate for controlled directivity horn efficiency swings over their passbands. That's why I don't like to use sensitivity ratings since I don't use passive crossovers in my setup any more--everything is bi-amped or tri-amped, and EQed (very carefully) to flat response on-axis at 1m. The typical sensitivity ratings of loudspeakers is not actually measuring the bass bin channels in their measurements, only assuming that the bass bin channel has enough woofer diaphragm area (or bi-amping) in order to keep up with the midrange/high frequency drivers. So the whole subject of loudspeaker efficiency becomes a bit subjective even though objective measures are being used. In general, the MEHs that I've had my hands on have efficiencies that vary between 2-20% on the bass channels (i.e., on the same channel, same MEH, as a function of frequency), and between 4% and close 100% on the high frequency channels. If using midranges, the efficiency varies between 3-50%. You can see this by the number of drivers used on the high frequency, midrange, and woofer channels in the Danley SH-96 (which is almost the same dimensions as the K-402-MEH, and has the same horizontal and vertical coverage): The SH-96 is a fixed PA loudspeaker (not arrayable) that is used mostly as a center stage loudspeaker (or one each on the side of the stage). It has 90 degrees of horizontal coverage and 60 degrees vertical coverage in order to cover the full audience in a PA or music reinforcement application. The SH-96 uses 11 drivers...not because it needs all those drivers for home hi-fi duty, but because it has to play at 133 dB continuous (music power) output to full audiences in large auditoriums and outside venues--without boundary gain. Danley very conservatively rates this loudspeaker at 101 dB/2.83 V into WHOLE space (no boundaries close by--as if elevated far above ground level outside). If that same loudspeaker were rated into half space, it would jump 6 dB in sensitivity rating, another 6 dB if in quarter space (e.g., wall/floor interface) and another 6 db in eighth space (full corner loading). So it is 101 dB /1 m @2.83v elevated far above ground, and nearly 118 dB/1m @2.83v in a room corner. The K-402-MEH needs to play at much less overall SPL than that. It can use three drivers (a good 2" compression driver and two 15" woofers) instead of the one 1.4" compression driver, 6 compression midranges, and four 15" woofers of the SH-96. If you need the MEH to play louder at the same input power, add drivers. Of course, this isn't what I need at home, so for me, three drivers are more than "good enough". Chris

  29. Ugly, cold, rainy day today so haven't done squat except research this subwoofer. Guess it will work but we'll see what shakes out when I hit the GO button. DuraFlex was used on the cab at the factory and it stil looks great so gonna scrub that down when it gets a bit nicer out. Hittin the car wash w/that 18 gauge expanded metal grill cover. Think the grill cover is just about right, after some bending, to fit back into the cabinet. Do a lil scrubbin, paint the grill and put it back together then inside it comes. Gonna be interesting! Now? Just hangin! 😂 Left my buddy scratchin his head again while listening to Spirit's 12 Dreams. This is day 3 for that one. Think he's liking it! hahaha

  31. Hello forum members, I did purchase these speakers from Meryl and am very happy with the purchase. In Meryls defense her mom is 83 y/o in whom I dealt with. Her mom is one of the nicest individual I have encountered. I picked up some other audio gear during the purchase. The most important part was both parties were happy after exchange. Interesting enough, I now see that sometimes people just come here for advice and hope for an answer to there unknown questions. Thanks to all forum members for your graciousness to those who just don’t know. Cheers Keith

I like lots of things that are: clear, well recorded and mastered, full sounding, sound like they are going somewhere, postitive-hopefull-romantic-true to the human nature-harmony, technical excellence by the musician-s etc I have discovered a number of things I like on our Listening now thread Things I don't like are Music that is angry, negative, going nowhere, poorly recorded-played or mastered, repetitive, loser mentality Was checking out McIntosh's website and tripped over their HD Radio Station Lots of interesting pics, many new to me. The paintings, Childhood, Youth, Manhood, and Old Age, depict a voyager who travels in a boat on a river through the mid-19th-century American wilderness. In each painting the voyager rides the boat on the River of Life accompanied by a guardian angel. 36. My Cherry Forte IVs came to me very light and not at all what I was expecting or hoping for but they are getting darker and richer looking by the day. My wife and I are very happy with the way they look now. Just beautiful! And yes - Paducah Home Theater and Cory were the place to get to get incredible deals on the best Heritage Klipsch speakers. I had the Fortes within a few days of ordering them and they arrived on a pallet in perfect condition and I saved nearly $2000 over what I could have received them locally. Great service from Cory!

  37. Hopefully you will have an experience like I have had for the past year and a half with my EVO 400. I did have one tube burn out and Upscale replaced that the next day. I recently rolled in different preamp tubes and kt 150s just to try tube rolling. My amp has been flawless except for the one tube that failed early on and it sounds better the more I use it. I would estimate between music and tv use it is on at least 6 hours a day and I have zero desire to go back to solid state amps because I am addicted to the sound of my Primaluna good luck with your new amp

  38. I guess my take is this....Based on what you've said, I don't think there's anything "wrong" with your Belles, I just think that you like the other ADS much better, and they suit your hearing, so it's a comparison issue, not a problem/technical issue. I would certainly sell the Belles, if you have any original drivers/crossovers I would put those back in and sell off the rest. JMHO

  39. PS Once your room is built, tuning in or finding the sweet spot for the speaker will take some experimentation. Consider changing materials behind them once you find the sweet spot for them, If the wall is hard, you can experiment with wood panels, stained but not sealed plywood etc. It should have an effect on the sound, something to play with once you are all set up like tube rolling.

  41. I never read just one book at a time. Two-to-three is an average. Reading takes valuable time and isn't something that I invest in lightly. (Fiction--for me--makes me feel that I'm wasting my time.) Why not read something that's actually useful? I've taken heat from my colleagues over the years for this view. I've spent some time on this recently: Diamond is quite deceptive (in an insightful way). When you read his stuff it looks like window wash. It's not. Slow down and consider what he's saying and you'll start to realize the real value of what you're reading. Guns, Germs and Steel, and The Third Chimpanzee have stuck in my head like an earworm. These books fundamentally changed my perceptions of who we are (i.e., the human race, in general). They've affected my basic views of human cultures and of history itself. What I'm now reading (small bits at a time): This one is interestingly on-topic for a loudspeaker web forum (), and while the author perhaps has issues with breath of the imagination and general lack of experience with horn-loaded loudspeakers...nevertheless the book should make you do double takes on what you consider to be good audio. I imagine that if you're the type of person that reads "audiophile magazines", this book will help you to forever stop wasting your time on them--similar to the effect that Floyd Toole's book on loudspeakers has.
