  7. Hi i am a Bang and Olufsen enthusiast from the UK i have Beolab 8000 mk2, beolab 3 ,beo center 2, beosound overture, Beosound stage , beosound2, Beoplay A9, Beoplay E8 and H95 headphones and a beogram 3300 turntable with other accessories all in perfect working order in 2 seperate systems with 1 x beolab 19 sub woofer and 2 x beolab 11 subs. Yes its expensive.......the quality and craftsmanship of the materials is second to none and its made in Denmark not assembled in a factory line in the far east which obviously cuts labour costs hugely. I have owned Rotel, Nad, Accoustic energy spks, Heybrook spks, Arcam amps n cd players etc......not Klipsch however i am to believe it is very very good hi fi indeed. My B n O sounds fantastic and far superior to the kit ive had since leaving school in the 80s in England. Bang and Olufsen sell high end audio NO argument there at all. What they do not do is lean to a consumer with a purist audiophile agenda in terms of tweaking with accessories or connecting to other manufacturers .I bought B n O and full stop as i wanted their sound alone which is clear as a bell at very high volumes , packs a punch with plenty of soundstage many would be suprised who have not tried it. From a please the Wife angle the aesthetics are second to none and its so easy to use , no industrial sized cabling 1 inches thick.................. Bang and Olufsen are in a different market to Wilson and Klipsch to a large extent and so forth . It depends what your after im a music nut not a sound engineer i have hundreds of cds and vinyls and it satisfies the sound quality i require, it fits perfectly into any home even their old kit is timeless in design and its absolutely fantastically constructed.I am a metal worker by trade and what Bang and Olufsen can do with aluminium is no ones business. Happy listening all and Klipsch does look like top audiophile gear lads n lasses, all stay safe.

  11. Hello... I am looking as a buyer at a local sale of an original owner pair of Cornwall 1s. I have not seen them yet but they appear to be in very very good shape. The listing describes them as Cornwall IIs purchased in 1983, but visually they appear to be late Cornwall 1s (back mounted drivers, and three bottom ports rather than two). Trust me I am no Klipsch expert. Currently I rotate thru a pair of JBL L100s and Forte iiis, using a Primaluna Prologue Premium Integrated amp. Realizing the Cornwalls are 40 years old would it be a downward move buying vs the Fortes? I wouldn't keep both. I'm an audio lover not a flipper. If I bought the Cornwalls I would service the crossovers if needed etc. I don't listen to classical, jazz, or country. I am a rocker....Floyd, Dire Straights, Supertramp, Alice in Chains, Tool etc. I just would hate to pass on a nice pair of original owner Cornwalls...but I don't want to make a lateral or downward move. Help....

  13. Bee stings? Hahaha! On the road years ago and was drinking a Pepsi while taking a well deserved "break" when I THOUGHT I swallowed something. Yea, ok everyone was laffin but me. I could actually FEEL something crawling up my throat. Now the guys were rollin hearing that! Someone grabbed a big flashlight and was looking in my mouth for whatever got in my Pepsi. I could feel it moving up my throat then I'd swallow and it would start all over again. So, mouth open, I'm shoving paper towels in my cheeks trying to soak up the saliva so I wouldn't swallow it back down. All the while one of the guys held this flashlight over my mouth. Ok, it wasn't funny anymore when my throat and chest started getting hot. Long story short we went to an ER and some old Doc gave me peanut butter crackers thinking that would knock it down into my stomach and the acid kill it. Nope, so he scoped my throat and could see where I'd been stung. So he sends me back out into the waiting room with the guys and some woman brought her daughter in who was in false pregnancy. Here I am, mouth open, stuffed with paper towels, head back looking up at the ceiling lights. She's sitting across from me staring. Then the BEE flew out of my mouth and circled my head while she lets out this "OH MY GOD!" at the top of her voice. I said what was it and she said it was the biggest bee she'd ever seen. Yea, go figure. Doc came out and said no charge cause NO ONE would believe it! I STILL hear about that one! lol

  14. I'll just say the northeast. Not sure how many visitors I want. šŸ™‚ Yes, those who purchased the pro version of the Jubilee likely got a significant discount in the past. Perhaps that was done to keep the product alive. I have no idea what kind of markup the dealers got for those but I bet the financials weren't great for Klipsch or the dealers at those prices. A product like that should cost more than the Klipschorn. Also, the Pro products are not subject to universal pricing so deals could be made. I know people are disappointed in loosing what may have been one of the best deals in audio but that's the decision that Klipsch has made. I'm very fortunate that my financial situation allows me to afford them. I never purchased the Pro version because while they sound amazing they had a few limitations that kept me away. First, you still need a sub to cover the first two bass octaves. I didn't want to pair a direct radiating sub with a fully horn-loaded speaker and I don't have room for a horn sub where I'd want to put them. Second, the stock HF driver rolls off too early for my liking and I didn't feel like purchasing and fiddling with a replacement. Finally, even with the beauty panel the cosmetics aren't great. Looking at the specs and pics of the Heritage Jubilee it appears that all those limitations are gone.

  15. A lot of people with zero risk factors are now dead or living with heart and /or lung issues they didnā€™t have before. You can also carry it without symptoms and pass it on to someone else who is high risk. Okay, the risk may be low to you, but it is never zero. Just seems insane to me to assume risk when you can just take a vaccine and quit thinking about it.

  16. I have to relate this: When I was 5 and in kindergarten (private, public was not available in those years) it was always a race out to the "recess" area. I had never been the first to get there and that day I was in the lead! I was yelling with my mouth open and running when a bee flew into my mouth and stung me on the roof of my mouth. I still remember that feeling of that 64 years later!

  19. Thanks guys, I certainly will. I don't even have fancy electronics but I'm still looking forward to hear them from my mid-tier Onkyo home theater receiver. The Cornwalls will be displacing R-28 towers and a pair of 12SW subs. I may use the towers as rear surrounds for theater listening and I may still use the subs (though in a different location, as they won't fit in their current location, along with the Cornwalls). I'm feeding the A/V receiver with a Schiit Modius DAC through its "CD input" analog input. I feel like it sounds better but I don't know about the integrity of its analog signal path. Causing me to take my own hearing with a grain of salt haha. Honestly even when I do upgrade from Onkyo I dont have current plans to get a set of amp/dac separates. I've been eyeing the Marantz SR6015\7015 and the Denon X3700/X4700. I've been hoping for measuremnts before I bought either Marantz as last years models did not measure near as well as the comparably priced Denons.

  26. Well, congratulations on the upcoming Jubilees. I am sure that they will sound great. If they sound better than the current version, then that will be quite an achievement. Just a couple of clarifications however regarding the current Jubilees (you referred to as the "pro" version). As of the 3rd week of April you could still buy them. The basic version (no veneer and no DSP) was available and selling in the mid $8K region (including shipping but sales tax depended on other things). The price mentioned above of being near $20K was a bit of salesmanship IMHO. That package, offered by just one of the dealers, included a DSP worth about $1200 and a limited amount of veneer (hardly a full cosmetic upgrade). I'll let you do the arithmetic. Finally, this rumor of them not being available (first posted back at the beginning of Feb) was fiction. We are now in June and perhaps it is now true, but it certainly was not in Feb, March, and April (a few of us checked with other dealers as recently as the 3rd week of April and we compared our notes). When the Jubilees first came out (about 15 years ago, or so) they were in the $7K-ish region. Many of us purchased them and I think all of us have been very happy with them. In all those years the price has only gone up about 15%. BTW, I doubt that Klipsch Inc was losing money on these over all those years. Predictably, many of us have upgraded drivers on the tweeter since this is our nature. However I doubt that many of us had major objections to their sound. Jubilee owners tend to be pretty content. Even in stock form, they sound quite good. That is a real testament to their designer. I find the bass to be more than adequate for music (perhaps not for home theater) and I hear nothing wrong with the top end (but maybe my ears are getting old) I am done with my rant. -Tom

  30. Think some may be doing well with that amp brand and Cornwall's. A couple of things. Your post reads like you already have Fortes and, may as well get a pic of the rear stickers on the Cornwall's. Then as long as you can live with the price of either. Thanks! @tivorocks

  31. I literally flip-flopped several times on the final decision to take the shot of my choice. I believe myself to be a very healthy specimen. I also believe I had Covid just before Christmas 2019. I NEVER take a day off work for illness but I recall thinking if I wasn't off for holidays at the end of the week it was going to be a personal first. I was more drained than I had ever felt. Within a matter of days it was gone and the holidays were here. In the end, in my heart of hearts, I do not for a moment believe we have seen the end of diseases like Covid. And their progressively worse variants. I also think the mRNA approach is the answer. A little adjustment to the recipe at each stage of mutation. I have never taken a flu shot, but I may reconsider this in the future too. Having said that, it is curious how "the flu" was all but non-existent last year. Something worked there.

  35. There is zero risk of you being stabbed to death by a monkey in a tutu - but you could be standing next to someone with their throat loaded up with this stuff and find yourself on a ventilator in a week or two. You have no way of knowing what your actual risk is. Driving is supposedly pretty risky. There were 36K deaths in 2019 related to that. How does that stack up against covid? You have to have all of your shots before you enter the public school system, and you also have to have many for overseas travel. The DOD requires ALL of them before going over. ā€œVaccine Passportsā€ are not new, but we used to just call them ā€œshot recordsā€, and it was never unusual to have to present them - but now it has become a problem for some reason. I donā€™t find arguments people use very compelling.

  37. I weighed my options and decided I'll take my chances with the virus. The odds are waaaaaaay in my favor. And all the vaccinated people need not worry about me. They are vaccinated. Not saying I'll never get it, just don't see that it's necessary.
    1 point
  38. No weird thinking, just looking for several years worth of data in humans. The amount of mRNA vaccine that has been pumped into people lately should give future users plenty of information on the safety and/or side effects of this type of treatment. Scientists say this then say that and everything is revered as gospel till years later when it's actually not.

  39. I think it is good to revitalize some of old threads just to update them. This could be one of such threads. B&O may be considered stylish first and sound the second. But only to those who have not heard it in person. The prices are high, that is true. But the craftsmanship and made in home land is a part of the price, which can not be claimed for many other companies. I have had the chance to hear the complete B&O system beginning 1990s, and then a few years ago for the second time when auditioning Beolab 50 speakers in a B&O system visiting audio show. Beolab 50s filled a big room with clean sound, one of the best systems that I heard in that show.

  46. Hahahaha! Most of the people who rail against Bose and Monster the loudest haven't a clue as to what the real fundamental problems are when viewed from a technical perspective! But it is oh so trendy to be cool and fit in with the crowd and their ridicule, regardless of how justified it may actually be! And just like the TV show Green Acres, there was trash and good trash on TV. Green Acres at least had Mr. Kimble, Mr, Haney and Arnold. So it was good trash. Of course, in the world of automobiles, there is Jaguar, a fabulously sleek design wherein you were wise to have someone follow you both to pick up the parts as they fell off and to give you a ride back when it ceased working. And even I must admit that they looked great even on the blocks upon which most of them spent their lives! Is there anything 'wrong' with B&O? No. Nothing fundamental. They work...ok. Not exceptionally, but they function, just like Bose and so many other products. But as we see in so many other product lines, simple functionality is not the primary driver for all people. Just as all people do not prefer Carhardt jeans to silk suits! And despite your or my opinions, neither is there any reason that they should! If vertical turntables and elegant design is paramount, you will love B&O too. But ultimately, and regardless of your preferences, I find it a sad testimony that so many are so worried about trying to find reason to trash others instead of refining their own preferences suitable for their own desired ends. Wouldn't it be nice if we worried about improving the quality of the products we support and improving their marketing message, rather then worry about complaining about others!? Oh, but I forget, it is so much easier to complain about the 'thems' of the world rather then to improve oneself!
