  1. You guys have convinced me. I am in Ottawa Canada, the speakers are in Toronto, I am heading to Toronto tomorrow to pick them up. Thank you again for your advice.

  2. From a dog’s diary ………… 8:00 am - Dog food! My favorite thing! 9:30 am - A car ride! My favorite thing! 9:40 am - A walk in the park! My favorite thing! 10:30 am - Got rubbed and petted! My favorite thing! 12:00 pm - Lunch! My favorite thing! 1:00 pm - Played in the yard! My favorite thing! 3:00 pm - Wagged my tail! My favorite thing! 5:00 pm - Milk bones! My favorite thing! 7:00 pm - Got to play ball! My favorite thing! 8:00 pm - Wow! Watched TV with the people! My favorite thing! 11:00 pm - Sleeping on the bed! My favorite thing! From a cat’s diary …………… This is the 983 of my captivity. My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects. They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while the other inmates and I are fed hash or some sort of dry nuggets. Although I make my contempt for the rations perfectly clear, I nevertheless must eat something in order to keep up my strength. In an attempt to disgust them, I once again vomit on the carpet. The only thing that keeps me going is my dream of escape. Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their feet. I had hoped this would strike fear into their hearts, since it clearly demonstrates what I am capable of. However, they merely made condescending comments about what a ‘good little hunter’ I am. B@st@rds. There was some sort of assembly of their accomplices tonight. I was placed in solitary confinement for the duration of the event. However, I could hear the noises and smell the food. I overheard that my confinement was due to the power of ‘allergies.’ I must learn what this means and how to use it to my advantage. Today I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of my tormentors by weaving around his feet as he was walking. I must try this again tomorrow – but at the top of the stairs. I am convinced that the other prisoners here are flunkies and snitches. The dog receives special privileges. He is regularly released - and seems to be more than willing to return. He is obviously retarded. The bird has got to be an informant. I observe him communicating with the guards regularly. I am certain that he reports my every move. My captors have arranged protective custody for him in an elevated cell, so he is safe. For now…

  4. Every time I’ve been in hospital, the nurses and the porters (who push you in a bed to your various tests and scans) have always been unfailingly polite and cheerful, which is a big help in what could be a house of sadness. I wonder how much of this is due to their training and how much is a reflection of the kind of people who want to spend their whole working lives taking care of people? Either way, it makes the time spent in hospital much more bearable.

  5. The staff couldn't be nicer. They are nice to me and nice to each other. No one is officious or the least bit arrogant. This place is in sharp contrast to the last hospital I was in. That said, I wouldn't want to be in here on a football Saturday; I couldn't even pretend to root for the Wolverines.

  7. I used to live with a big cemetery directly behind us, adjoining the property of the apartment building. Nice quiet neighbours, plus we had the peace of mind of seeing a big fence to keep them on their side.

  8. Had to turn off the hourlies for my dark sky app, it did that. The time is almost over for it on android and I did not like the others so I'll roll with something else in a few months. Hot and sticky invaded after the crowd left this morning, I'll open up every window and turn the fans on for forty minutes or more before I closed up. Humidity was 79% so turned the ac down and now 9 hours later it's cool and dry(<50%) in here.

  9. Mornin' all Yesterday's rain chances didn't pan out. The forecasters are still bubbling with optimism. 90% chance today... if it gets warm enough. Ironically, if we have too much humidity/clouds, it won't rain. Our storms operating on thermal lift to stir up the atmosphere. If it is cloudy, thermal lift doesn't happen

  10. I think you’d see better reception from fully dressed dogs - mustard, ketchup, relish, onion, than an embarrassed string of naked dogs. Or maybe this guy only has AM and a cassette deck —

  12. Agree with both the above. Last time in a “hospital” was for hip replacement surgery. Hospital is a misnomer as it is the building my surgeon has his practice and does hip replacements on a 12 bed second floor, exclusively for hips. Extremely attentive care, basically any food you would want, other than the pain of recovery I hated to leave the place.

  13. one of the Baptist churches met at The Old Schoolhouse... at the park. I gave them courtesy. Quiet while they were having services and even mowed around the building. Used to tease Pastor Rick about losing his flock in the weeds, if I didn't.

  18. Most postings get to say "Sold" at some point but I get to post "Bought". After an eighteen month search I have finally secured the elusive NBS. Was originally @mmoxley's posted somewhere in this forum. I appreciate the opportunity to mate this with the VRD's I secured in 2019. Unfortunately it will be a bit before I can get the setup installed but I couldn't pass when the opportunity came up.

  22. Hi Guys, I had the khorns before, but because of a few busy years I had no time to use them, sold them 3 years ago; I have been in constant regret since. I simply can not wait anymore I decide that I will buy another pair. But the problem is -- the only room I have available is my home basement office room, and it is only 15x11x8ft, not only that, it has a large desk with 3 large 27" monitors. Will that be acceptable if the khorns are placed along the 15ft wall and I sit way back at the 11ft wall? Ceiling height is just 8ft. See attached a picture of the room Thanks a lot.

  23. Just wanted to share, I had been searching for any Heritage stuff just to change things up at home and it seemed like I was never going to find anything - between sellers playing games trying to get bids, and other unfortunate mishaps / misconnections I had all but given up. I posted on a Facebook group I'm in as a last ditch effort and I got a hit. Story goes, these were in the original owners wall unit for 40 years. Serial has a "W" in it and from what I can decipher from the date code post these might be a 1981? I'm making a few changes to my layout so pardon the background mess.

  24. I prolly shouldn't tell y'all that I had to put on my robe because it is cold. It's been raining enough to drop the temp to 65 or 70`F. that's cooler than when I got up this AM... ---------------------------------------------------- I was under the impression that Kamloops got some extreme temps normally...?

  25. Until this week, the only time I’d seen temperatures of 40C on a North American weather map was on Phoenix, Arizona. Death Valley rarely shows up on the weather maps here, presumably because it’s not a major city. Then, this week 40-49C appeared on several Canadian cities. Yes, something is terribly wrong.

  26. The Guinness world record is 134F/56.7C in Death Valley, CA, USA. Something is terribly wrong when Canadians are dealing with Death Valley type temperatures in their homes.

  29. Rock On.....the squawkers and tweeters will be higher up. Projecting sound over the monitors and into your ears. First reflections off the ceiling can be tamed if necessary. Enjoy.

  33. Klipsch recommends a minimum ceiling height of 8-1/2 feet for Klipschorns. The Khorns will work in your room, but they won’t be able to sound their best. It may be because the squawkers and tweeters would be closer to the ceiling than Paul Klipsch would have liked, due to early reflections from the ceiling causing a less sharp image, in the same way that long ago, when we used rabbit-ear TV antennas, we’d sometimes get a faint “ghost image”, which would mess up the view. However, if you get a great deal on a pair, and are happy to listen to them in a compromised situation, why not get them? Are you planning to live there for a decade or more, or do you have a roomier home, with higher ceilings, in mind for the not-so-distant future? Only you can decide what’s most important to you, and which factors are less important. Good luck on your quest for great listening!

  38. Looked at these yesterday. They are in a shop and the price wasn’t really negotiable without the owner in the store. Light tan paint over Baltic Birch plywood. Had machine screw mounts on the bottom. There were a few chips in the plywood at the back. The metal grille used standard spacers, but had wood screws instead of machine screws. There were also bug screens in the front facing ports and in the squawker. Each of the drivers seemed to be working fine. The speakers produced plenty of sound. As industrials, they can get loud. But they also played nicely at low volume. I think this is a key benefit of Klipsch industrials…their sensitivity (efficiency). Are they a good value at the asking price? That’s in the eye of the beholder. In the DC area, older Heresies (H700 to H2s) advertise for $800 - 1000 right now. Klipsch industrials come up for sale infrequently, so that means opportunity cost is a factor, too. Prices on Klipsch industrials are inconsistent in the DC market, but listings are rarely cheap if they are identified as Klipsch w/ model numbers. A buyer would need to determine a personal balance between time spent bargain hunting and the higher monetary cost of an identified find.

  46. I was up at 2:30, no clouds beautiful stars out. Sunrise was spectacular over channel to San Juan island, mount Baker was in relief. No wind. Then about 4:30 cool air started to arrive. We are at 17 whereas last 3 days we were already at 28 or so by now. Thank goodness maybe today will be much cooler.

  47. OK...the renovation took much longer than expected. These 1973 cabinets were pretty beaten up. I am currently driving these with an ARC Ref 110 power amp with KT150's. They sound wonderful! I purchased some Sonicaps and will eventually replace the caps in one speaker for an A/B comparison. After some burn-in, if the older caps sound better, I will put the old oil/paper caps back in.
