  1. And they're done! They sound great and I'm just giving them a good listen, thanks for coming along for the thread.

  3. Those pork butts looks tasty dtel! Dave Mallette would have been 72 today. Quite a character and gone too soon😪 Gonna be a rainy day again here. Last scheduled trip to the Chiropractor at 10:00. I know they will want me to continue but I'm going to take a break. Washed the bubble wearing a lumbar belt with no ill effects. Actually loosened me up some.

  4. Amazing! Where did you find a lumbar belt large enough to fit the bubble?

  5. First step was to get a few funds flowing, since I had all of the parts laying around to make a pair of Type E crossovers I spent an afternoon doing that and sold the originals to recoup some costs that were going to come in the form of veneer and finish. I had a 14awg 2.4mH air core inductor with similar DCR to the original iron core unit (0.36 ohms if I'm not mistaken), some film caps and a crites autoformer. Also had some magnet wire kicking around so it has jumpers you can pick the crossover up by just as a fun thing.

  6. Whaterever is on when we turn on the tv... Watch a bunch of the swimming events, the diving and track, both mens and womens. My wife really likes the beach volleyball, so we took that in. Wife can't play it since she's so short. She played a lot of badminton in the Philippines. We watched a lot of the gymnastics as well. You mentiomed the trampolines, but the uneven bars and balance beam are scary for me to watch.

  12. I spoon it out a big container and spread it with the other hand, as much as will stick and not slide off. I never tried on brisket before but don't cook much brisket after the last one which was close to $70. Somewhere around 5 hours

  13. So I picked up a pair of H1's a few weeks ago that were in "well loved" condition. I assume they were in a garage or a workshop of some kind. Pretty banged up, corners were all dinged, missing some chunks of veneer and a few screw holes from where it looks like they were mounted to a rafter or something. That said, drivers were all intact and original and when I cracked them open they looked as if no one had ever unscrewed the back (except for when one of the K-22s was replaced with an "R" equivalent). Caps tested within spec and the crossovers were immaculate.

  17. It's kinda a strong mustard smell until the meat starts to heat up... then ahhh it's a recognizable neighborhood smell to everyone that was in Clt before the 80s! Had some mango habanero last month that was different. I knew that would get a rise outta you @Dave1291 it's not too long now. & I'm not real happy about what my Canes did in the last month. They repeatedly get promising young players in the latter rounds, nurture them for five years... then let them go to become stars somewhere else. Lots of trades for latter rounds this year too, more than usual. Different owner, different mgr, sos.

  18. @Tarheel some chiropractors want to keep you coming back for the rest of your life... I feel a rant I need to stifle. ---------------------------------------------------- that little electric weedeater works pretty good, as long as you keep w/i its limits and don't mid dragging an extension cord -- when I said "old", I mean pre battery op... I imagine it is lighter than a batt op... I dunno. Done with it, for the moment. Washed the pureed grass and weeds off me. The place smells like a fresh cut hay field... not a big stretch... it was a hay field I can relax into my normal routine ...Can't pull weeds from the grass, so, I'll go into the garden and pull grass from my weed/s. rain predicted for the weekend. We got spit on last night. Just enough to drop the temp.... a little less, all we would have gotten is elevated humidity w/o a temp drop.

  20. If all the veneer is there thinking that a lightly warm iron may uncurl and make flat. Then maybe a coolish iron with glue should hold it while heavyish weight until dries. Careful with glue and heatif flammable. Others will say...

  21. This is store bought obviously but it is very good on grilled chicken and pork... or baked. The mustard, paprika, garlic and vinegar with other stuff makes the area smell great of course and the vinegar helps it penetrate.

  22. I am in awe of the woodworking/finish restoration. The only thing I ever succeed in by attempting such is making it worse, save for maybe giving the oiled cabs a BLO treatment. Any resto work I do, I have to hire people to do the work for me - crossovers, grill cloths, and so forth such that I am in the area of "assembly". I would like to do this to my Cornwalls that I am redoing for my theater, but as I say, I'll screw it up. Which is what impresses me the most about these threads - some people seem to do this like breathing, whereas I view it as "Flying Wallendas" sort of stuff.

  23. The following is taken from this source (Bob Katz): https://www.digido.com/portfolio-item/level-practices-part-2/ Farther down the article, it talks about using a "-6 dB" reference for home CDs, etc. as the zero dB monitor reference point (i.e., 77 dB). The article is a good discussion of the entire subject of "how loud" and dynamic range of recordings. While the RIAA-affiliated mixing and mastering shops still have trouble pushing back against the record companies and their "Loudness War" practices, largely, the MPAA (movie) industry practices have set reasonable levels and unofficial standards for mixing and mastering levels. 26. Strange thing is it has no mustard flavor, not sure how that works actually, I know it melts off but you would think a little mustard taste. It does good, homemade and i just got lucky it smokes. The fire box was really just to add a little smoke while on the gas. It smoked so well I removed the burner's and only use wood.

  27. Risers painted I then did three coats of water based polyurethane on the bottoms. Water based as I wanted to keep the white colour of the white oak and didn't want the finish to cause or accelerate any yellowing. With the finish on I then screwed on the risers which made the rest of the finish work a lot nicer to deal with.

  28. Now for the stressful part, I have never applied a veneer to anything and like to fling myself into new projects. So I used lepage gel based contact cement as I had read it spreads more evenly with less likelihood of causing orange peel. Managed to only misplace one sheet on one side and it was just off enough it was fixed with a tiny sliver of off cut. Overall the process went well and like bondo, would happily never smell contact cement again, god bless a big open garage door. Next up, edge banding (was not a fan of this step)

  29. Next up, grilles. The originals were tired and one had a sizeable rip in it. Also one of the original badges was missing. Luckily I had just enough fabric I had picked up from Crites a few years ago to cover the original frames and ordered a pair of reproduction badges. They're not period correct but I just like the laser logo the most so went with those. Used spray adhesive from gorilla glue and a lighter on the corners to keep everything nice and tight with no fraying. Very happy with how they turned out.

  37. Pair of excellent condition Klipsch Chorus II speakers for sale, $800.00. I purchased these 5 or so years ago from the original owner and have absolutely loved my time with them. I just have the itch to try something different. Always driven with quality electronics and never pushed hard, as I tend to listen at moderate levels. I updated the to Crites crossovers and titanium tweeters. Replaced to dented passive radiator dust caps, and updated the somewhat faded grill cloth with fabric from Bob Crites. That job was not perfect as it was my first time attempting, but very presentable. Lastly I purchased some custom slanted risers and removed the factor risers. I have both sets and they will be included in the sale. Hoping to find a Klipsch owner who will enjoy these as much as i have. Local pick up only in NW Fort Wayne, IN.

  43. Ive been away from my Cf-4 and Cf-3(both v.1) for almost 4 months now. Thinking when I get back to start a project and veneer them both plus the KV4 and redo the grill cloths. Cf3s are black and my cf4s are cherry. Would it be blasphemous to redo the black pair into cherry or the cherry into black? Also as far as the kv4...do I remove the vinyl first? How would I go about doing that? Im currently considering just refinishing the black CF3 and veneer the cherry cf4 in black ash. My RSW15 is black too so figure it would be easiest and any future sub will likely be black also Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk

  44. Edge banding is a nightmare and I'm not great at it and I should have just cut strips of the veneer and used the contact cement instead of the matching iron-on white oak I got from Lee Valley. That said, I eventually got it done, the miter joints look relatively good and then I spent a ton of time with wood fill and sanding to get them as square as possible.

  47. It will probably be late but I need to get them done. We usually do a few at a time and put them in freezer bags to use later, it freezes really well. Being I am not an early riser it is pretty late when they are done, and I cheat, the last hour or so I am tired of checking on the smoker and I finish them in the oven, but probably 11 hours on the smoker. The first time I tried it with the mustard I thought I might have ruined them, but it melts off and holds the seasoning on really well. Most of the seasoning is under the mustard. leaves a nice bark, my favorite part. .
