There he turns again . My Micro-Seiki ! There where otherwise my Marantz luxury steamer stands, stands now the small inconspicuous black box. A friend has made it available to me indefinitely. The" Camtech" preamplifier from England is connected and does its job. The Englishman sounds damn good. Was built in 1998 , was a reference device . But gonna tell you something , I can fire my RF 7 EvoTec with any electronics , no matter , she's the one and only empress of all RF 7`s in the entire world6 points

Thanks for all the advice! I just ordered the Beyerdynamic DT990 Pro (I like its airy (open) design and the coiled cable). I got a good deal for an 'open box' one for €124. If I had the budget - which I don't, because school is about to start here in Belgium and I have three teenage kids (!!!) - I would have bought the DT1990 Pro, which has a much better overall build (noble materials!) and a detachable cable and slightly better sound, but it costs €435. But hey, a reviewer wrote that he had to replace his intensively used DT990Pro after six years... I'd say that's pretty impressive. I thought it would be fun to post a (commercial) review here in Dutch (from the Netherlands, not my Flemish variant). And I also posted an English language review, for the rest of the world! I would like to finish by expressing my gratitude to all of you here who gave advice. It helped me a lot!5 points

it's primary use is for skinning and cutting meat... the one I got is nowhere near as fancy as the one you pictured. ------------------------ We had a freezer full of ahi when I lived on Kauai. Once a week, we would go out. If family matters had not brought me back to the mainland abruptly, the boat owner and I were going to fish commercially4 points

our local roaster has some beans called Arivaca Blend. French roast mixed with a central American [Guatemalan, I think] beans... dark roast and light... I like it. ----------------------------------------- Wife's secretary went to Alaska for a few days. She brought an ulu [knife] back for me. I can see doing some real damage with it.4 points

I've preferred the South American beans forever. But that "blend" the other morning just wasn't too good! Had to look up the Ulu knife, Looks handy for slicing & dicing A medieval weapon for sure. Probably somewhere in stuff from that fantastic Game of Thrones production.3 points

I like the Lappert's Kona.... it was expensive, even for Hawaiians. $20 some per pound when I was living there. I was on Kauai from '90 - '98.. Just for scale, we paid $3/lb for sashimi grade ahi3 points

Actually Tom. No. Artto came on a klipsch forum to complain about the looks of a product he will never buy. And in offering his opinion, he gets mine and others. Artto has tried to use his “rep” to justify his opinion and I quite frankly don’t care what his opinion is. Klipsch has designed a product. Quite a few people like the looks and can’t wait to hear them. It’s a done deal. I don’t have to listen to artto and he doesn’t have to listen to me. You start a contentious thread, you get a contentious response. I particularly don’t like his responses because the jub is a product near and dear to my heart....because of my mentor and dear friend Paul Klipsch. You don’t like the looks of the jub....go “female dog” somewhere else. Don’t climb into my bass boat and say you hate fishing.....simple eh?2 points

I guess I am going to sound like an old guy. Forgive me. Artto has been a respected member of the forum for a number of years. He is a bright guy and has actually done and put forth some fairly heroic efforts at taming room acoustic issues. Far more than most of the rest of us. I have always found his comments to be worthy of consideration. Given that track record, you might want to listen to what Artto has to say. I did not say that you need to agree with it, but it is worthwhile to at least consider it. When we "buy things" all of us consider the the functionality as well as the appearance. This is true for cars and couches and everything else. When the item is pricey, then we are very careful in our consideration. Ultimately, there is no "correct answer". The functionality varies based on an individual's application. The issue of appearance is likewise, although we can get very, very personal in our likes and dislikes. I have no idea why this thread has become so contentious. Would we condemn our neighbor for preferring strawberry ice cream or chocolate? That is the level this has sunk to.2 points

Yes, Beyerdynamic with noble materials: leather, alcantara, stainless steel, ... exist but it is more expensive: DT1990, DT1770, Amiron, T1, T5 ... https://europe.beyerdynamic.com/t1.html?refSrc=3971&nosto=pdp_yourrecommendations https://europe.beyerdynamic.com/dt-1990-pro.html?refSrc=3980&nosto=pdp_yourrecommendations2 points

Were almost done with the first floor, were working on the last room which will be the HT room. Also the kitchen is not done but that will wait since all of the appliances are very old and it's really not needed right away. Some plumbing needs to be done, like tie in the second half bath in the front and move the hot water heater and replace it with a new one, it was in a terrible place and very old. Overall the first floor looks great, 100 year old carpet pulled out including horse hair padding. We pulled out the floor trim and sanded all of the floors which were original Oak and applied coats of clear, they look great now. Plus all the rooms were cleaned and repainted 2-3 coates plus the ceiling and stairway. It's a large house 3 stories and around 5000sf, but we got it for a steal considering it only need cosmetic work except for the plumbing changes. The house it 100 this year. Don't laugh at the colors, much, they are original colors from when the house was built, acording to Sherwin Williams. Pic of wet clear coat, it dried to a satin finish, it was coated a few times. Another pic of the outside off the internet, it is the house on the left, the house next to it is the Clinton musuem run by the national park service.2 points

I'll reply to my own posting in the hope that what I've learned might help someone searching the forum. The lenses (horns) do come off the driver. After removing the 4 screws, it can be removed. It just takes an uncomfortable amount of force. Take care not to disconnect or break the wiring. With the lens (horn) removed, you'll find a small black gasket and a tiny grill. I removed the little grill but left the gasket in place (but protected it with tape so that it could be re-used) when spray painting the lens/horn. I found these These two articles to be helpful: https://critesspeakers.com/installation-of-the-k-77-t.html https://community.klipsch.com/index.php?/topic/187809-wrong-tweeter-or-wrong-speaker/ I haven't re-assembled the tweeters yet.1 point
