  2. I've been dancing with the weedeater. About done for the day. ate a handful of Jujubes... not candy - the fruit, from a tree. Also called Chinese Date. They resemble a date. Sorta taste like one, if you turn the sweet to 1/10 of a date. Not something I would seek out at the grocery ... but, since we have a stand or trees, I eat them. They are coming ripe. They're good as a seasonal "treat". If we could get them year long, they lose a lot of appeal.

  4. Just wanted to say a special Hello George ... @MicroMara Hope you are doing well my friend. Hope all the rest of you are doing great. Unboxed my new 12-string guitar today ... maybe play it some tomorrow. Naturally, now that I own it, the "next" guitar is already on the horizon, but I think I'll wait until after my move to buy another. I only have 10 or 11, my bass playing buddy has well over 50 basses. His house looks like you walked into Guitar Center with all the bass guitars hanging on the walls and on stands in nearly every room. In his defense, he's a rather good bass player and has INCREDIBLE stage presence.

  5. Yup, that's a true story. I'd post the backstory on the song, which I can't type in here. It all worked out though in the end.

  6. very interesting story about how Head East got it's band name. You're a professor, so I'm sure you've heard it. One of the band's members said that a roadie, who lived with the band, stayed up all night frying on acid and when the sun rose, he thought it was telling him the band's name should be Head East. The band liked the uniqueness of the name and decided to use it.

  9. My faves are the early 70s for the trucks. Imagine doing the body that matte rusty red color with a glaze that was a semi-gloss at most. Then the backside of the tailgate (and the front grille) in black? I'd have to have a computer program to see if that would sink or swim though. The opposite of those old factory hot-rod Mopars with the matte black backside and racing stripes.

  10. That's popular now, I like that rust oleum primer color, thought about priming my old truck and then clear.

  15. Just bought another chain saw like I need one at my age. Home Depot had the 60V 18" bar cordless saw for $90 off with battery and charger. Took down and cut up a dead Dogwood tree next to the house this morning. Good torque and no pull cord nor gasoline to bother with. Now I'm tired.........

Walsh, Chrissy Hynde, Boz, Jamie Lyons from the Music Explosion & "Little bit of Soul", Head East may as well been from around here since they just happened to come up w/"Never been Any Reason,: and and Michael Stanley. Then there was Mark Chatfield who was from Cbus and went on to play w/Seeeeeeger... Hmmmm, off the top of my wittle pointed head. It's the water I'm tellin ya! Oh yea some other guys who just came outta Akron a couple years ago the Black Keys.

  23. Believe that all us Curmudgeons do!! It was the ordinary folks that needed another paycheck before the paint that drove them a couple of weeks before getting that shine on them. Or the one guy with that Roadrunner that never got it painted.. the first matte finished car I saw was not a wrap on a truck, it was primered and done!

  25. Yep I'm his age and have buried four dogs on my property. Four foot graves and chopping through tree roots about did me in. I can relate. I could have paid to have them buried but felt that was the least I could do for them...........

  26. Mike, I will give these a chance and have subscribed. As I have the attention span of a gold fish, I am curious if these are long and drawn out or quick tips that can be read in a couple of minutes. Room acoustics and treatments is something I would like to tackle this winter. I have been watching and trying to learn as much as possible. Some of the theories seem basic, but some seem to get over my head. At times I wish I could pay someone to come in my room and tell be what I need to build and where to put it for optimal use. Thanks for taking the time to continue this discussion. Your very welcome and I believe you will find them very friendly to read and they are friendly to the less technical minded as well. Don’t miss the “Archives Link” and once there the “Load More Tab” for a good size library of them.

  27. For those who would like to read sooner than I might get some things posted you can find many of Art Noxon’s papers and articles which can be found here on the ASC website. Scroll to the bottom and look under (Media & News) and (Acoustic FAQ) I highly encourage reading and subscribing to the (Newsletter: Acoustic Tips) which can be found toward the bottom of the home page as well. https://www.acousticsciences.com/ Note: they appear to be updating the website and the White Papers aren’t currently available. miketn 🙂

  28. Since we've still in virtual lock down and planted in front of the hifi, Benny decided he wants a pair of 'horns. I told him we needed to sell his La Scala IIs first, so here they are. Purchased in mid-2019 from a Heritage dealer, there are B-stock in cherry finish. There is a 1/4" scratch on the rear top (exaggerated in the photo) and one on top of the box (hidden) from clumsy mounting of the horns. On the inner side of each speaker, the clear coat shows as white until I dab lemon oil on them (last photo). Once that is done, they are as new. I assume that is why there are B-stock, but there is nothing B-stock in their audio performance. Other than that, they are as new from a cat-free, child-free and smoke-free home with no issues: $4000. I am south of Nashville Tennessee and while I cannot ship them, I do have the boxes and packing to make transport easier. Please feel free to arrange an audition before buying. Thanks and please email any questions. Mike

  29. It kind of surprised me recently when three separate salespeople at two different audio/HT stores - all of whom have been in the business for years - had never heard of the McCormack brand. I recently re-acquired a DNA-1 Deluxe to power my mains, with the HT-1 taking care of the center and surrounds. Very accurate, sweet-sounding watts feeding the Fortes. (The QSC professional amp powers my two home-built subs).

  32. I am also very strongly leaning towards floor standers. Hopefully can do a demo on the speakers and make my decision soon. Can I please ask as was also looking at other names like the Elacs debut 2.0 f 6.2 and Svs prime towers. What would you recommend

  33. Thanks Billy for replying. I did do a brief audition of the 8000 and 5000. The store did not have the 6000. Honestly I preferred the 5000, having said that the AV receiver were different, this was not a listening room and the staff were more interested in offering me discounts. Will be trying another store this week

  38. I've been only Klipsch since 1985; but that loyalty isn't absolute. They don't treat me well, I'll buy something else. Thankfully, I've not had any problem with them.

  41. I have no idea if there is any differences in the paints, but at that price it is good. Most paint is not cheap anymore, I was shocked last time I needed house paint, even interior. Yes I have about a quart left of the grey and will probably get another gallon since it would be cheaper than more quarts since I don't know how much I will need. YES it was a throw away brush, everyday I would put it in a zip lock bag to keep it from drying, kind of worked. All the metal was cleaned with a wire wheel on a grinder so they were pretty clean, eye and ear protection was needed, can't afford to lose any more hearing. Found some safety goggle's online cheap, 10 for $4.50, at that price when they get a little messed up just throw it away. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B086G1J72M/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Plus I needed a bunch of cutting wheels and grinding disc, but it was still cheaper than buying Oxygen and Propane for the torch. I do remember a car primer that looked the same. .

  42. Frankly, i don't even know what process the guy is using. Based on what he said, basically the workflow if as follows: prime the part to be painted, see if anything sticks out, polish 'bad' regions, prime again and if nothing comes up the part is painted. Just can't wait to hear it! I decided to strengthen the box walls as in the pics:

  43. Well, after a month of listening to them... ...they are fantastic. I'm feeding them via the 100W RMS mono blocks, and the sound is simply divine! They hold their own with the 3002's at the power levels I'm feeding them.

  44. Before gouging up the cabinet or the panel with metal tools, after removing all the screws, I would put a large screw into one of the back corners, and pull on that (use slide hammer, if available). Even if you end up drilling a hole large enough to accept a toggle bolt, it can be easily filled, more easily than cleaning up putty knife, or screwdriver, gouges. Good luck and please let us know how it goes.

  45. They came out of a family fun center that went out of business. They were hanging by chains from the ceiling for roughly 30 years. They need to be thoroughly cleaned first. We are listening to them now in the garage. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk

  46. Get the diagrams for both from Klipsch. Inventory the drivers, are both sets identical? Replace all the caps with new, make the left one like the right one with regards to the resistors. Replace the steel screws in the round coils with brass.
