  9. Tweeters don't start in until 7khz not sure how that would help tame a 1-2khz bump? Those tweeters typically have a pretty low output compared to the mid if there's any perceived harshness its more than likely from the mid. As stated by others try placement both speakers and seating area if possible change the room around if you can or have to possibly look at some treatments? Do you have hardwood floors? Maybe throw a thick rug between the speakers and listening position?

  11. Great video!!!..........Hey wait a minute.....that guy stole MY idea!!! How did he read my post and make that video so fast........I was only gone 45 minutes!! Seriously, that was good. And when I get to the point of considering changing caps in my crossover.....I'll do that! thanks, bob

  12. @w30bob said: " Now how did I get here..........oh yeah.......crossover capacitors! So here's a dumb question. If people think they hear differences in capacitors made of different material or brands......why doesn't someone just build a switch box with a number of these different capacitors in there and switch between them while listening?

  13. In all the years here, I have only called out one seller. I did it because he was offering the same speakers on CL for less than he was on this forum.... where people are very helpful. It has never been cool to carry on like some have in this thread, period. Someone doesn't like the price, then don't buy it. Want to help the seller, PM the fellow member. If the price isn't right, the market will prove it, without belligerent remarks.

  17. LaPalma Do y'all remember when one of the big dramatic doomsday ideas was the east coast of North America underwater all the way to the mountains? It was contemplated that if a huge chunk of the volcano fell into the sea the tsunami would be incredible when it reached here. Not worried, because if I was... wtf could I do about it in my situation? Tuck head between...

  19. Thank You @Subway I could not give you a thanks and a laugh at the same time so I made it separate! It was almost a meep meep just like the cartoon. My neighbor was a Mopar salesman back then until the gas crisis. Several times he would have a GTX, Charger, RR or Duster. Twice he had one of those Superbirds before NASCAR banned them from the races. Geeze all those great cars and I recall the Coyote Duster air cleaner (that's a blast from the past) We (all six of us) did manage to get Mike's dad to take us all for a ride in that second Superbird he got to drive for a while! My first car was a... you guessed it, a big block `73 Charger SE. Yep a smog motor, but not real bad we could correct those issues then and set it up to breathe right! Great article will finish it tonight!

  20. Finally pulled the trigger on a pair of Forte IV’s and am powering them with a Vincent 237MK Hybrid Amp. I relegated the Tannoy Revolution XTF8’s the the bedroom stereo system and am stoked as they are great speakers in their own right. My initial impressions are WOW! The scale, punch and “live music” feel are all there. To my ears there is nothing missing as the bass is deep and tight, mids are clear and unmuddled and the highs are clean and defined. Have about 80 hours on them and always questioned the “break in period” notion although it makes sense on some level. These speakers absolutely rock but have handled everything (jazz, metal, blues) I have thrown at them. And for me there are definitely sonic improvements over the Forte 3’s, which I almost purchased. Interested in the thoughts of other Forte 4 owners.

  21. you can bundle your favorite channels towards the top of the list very easily... but that is the one aspect, along with last channel, that I dont like either... but its not a deal killer for me. Just drag and drop to the new position... which I like much better than cable. AKA Cheap alternative.

  23. Well @DCaIrvine so you want to poke the bar (that's how we pronounce bear in Texas). Got notice of your your haha reaction. I said don't post or react in this thread again. Now you can join Bonehead/Knucklehead, do not post, reply, or react to anything in Garage Sale for a week, until after 10/2. Let's see if you can read and comprehend that.

  24. He came by and liked.... So that's what he likes. They are you speakers, what do you like? If you want to have so fun once in awhile, buy a QSC RMX 850 or so other cheap amp and know you can easily max them out with safety filters in place at the sacrifice of sound quality. You have an EXCELLENT amp, keep it. The guy that came by might need PA speakers for his mains, doesn't seem like you do.

  35. Two albums I bought at the local thrift store are really amazing. The classic 1955 Glenn Gould recording, on vinyl pressed in 1977. And a very rare Leos Janacek String Quartets record. The last one sounds amazing. https://www.discogs.com/release/14315641?utm_source=mobile&utm_medium=app&utm_campaign=Android App https://www.discogs.com/release/16794414?utm_source=mobile&utm_medium=app&utm_campaign=Android App

  38. It's because you removed or lost the jumpers in the rear. There are two separate terminals, one for the tweeter, one for the woofer. Klipsch did this so you could bi-amp them. If you do not want to bi-amp them, there is an included jumper so that one signal can power both drivers. You remove this jumper if you want to bi-amp. You basically have no jumper and your signal is only powering the woofer, your tweeter isn't working at all. Either put that jumper back in, or buy an aftermarket one if it's lost, or just connect the two with a piece of wire. The back should look like this, notice the gold bars:

  39. Time marches on Travis and you reference 30+ year old technology. I am thinking those Celestion drivers and the 402's would be superb and better than the old school 3 and 4 ways. I know that my Super MWM's beat out the old 3 way MCM-1900 stack I had. Honestly though once you get to this level they are all high end sound if running and set up right. Once you hear them you can never get them out of your mind.

  44. Hi ya fellas, I notice that you all continue to have a lot of joy, fun and exchange in this thread. It's a pity that I don't have much time at the moment to dedicate to my beloved hobby. It is summer in Europe, we spend most of our free time outdoors now and enjoy the beauty of nature. In addition, I have to take care of the really very large garden around our house and our pool in my free time. Who of you owns a pool knows a lot of work that is, despite all the pumps and filter systems. We have also been to the coast in the Netherlands and had some wonderful days there. The Netherlands is our direct neighbour and the North Sea coast is only 3 hours drive away. I just wanted to let you know that everything is fine. I read here regularly, even if I do not always want to comment everything. As soon as I listen to records again you will be there. When I have time to listen to music, my Marantz NA 8005 network player runs, mostly I only listen to "groovin Lounge style summer music ". I think of you, see you soon

  46. Slipped back out into the garage this afternoon to catch my pretty lil blonde USPS carrier outta the truck and putting a box full of LP's in my office chair. She was as shocked to see me coming out of the house as I was seeing her putting the box in the chair. We both started laffin. I've always told her to NEVER get outta the truck because then people expect you to all the time. Yup, busted and we both started laffin. Gonna be unzippin that new Rush 40th Anniversary box shortly!
