  1. There's something about the clarity and low frequencies that always brings me back to spinning vinyl... LOUIS Armstrong's Greatest Hits, yet another thriftstore find priced at 0.50 euro...

  2. Want to thank Bhendrix for putting me in contact with the sellers of these speakers! Couldn’t be more pleased. Arranged sale with courteous and helpful sellers, and then flew to South Florida from Arkansas to meet up with my 19 year old son (teach em what a worthwhile road trip is like!). Bought packing supplies and drove 9 hours to South Carolina, delayed by slow leaking tire. Sellers were gracious enough to stay up till 11 p.m., until we arrived. Thanked them, told them goodnight, and spent next 45 minutes in their front yard wrapping each speaker in 2 moving blankets, commercial Saran Wrap (rain?), a tarp with duct tape, and a last layer of a moving blanket (stop sliding in bed of truck) taped together. Can’t be too careful for a 12-14 hour drive home. While wrapping the speakers about midnight, a buck came out of the woods and came straight at us, within 20 feet . . . looking very unhappy. Looked at us, looked at first speaker we had just finished wrapping, back at us, then walked towards us another 5 feet. I told my son, “that buck is about to whip either that speakers ***, or ours, get to the truck”. Buck then lowered his head and with antlers down, went towards my son. Some words were said, that won’t be repeated here, and buck pulled up. After a short staring match, and one last look at the wrapped speaker, the buck snorted and trotted off. Strange things in South Carolina. In any event, priorities, so finished wrapping last speaker, and headed off for long drive home to Arkansas. Great music and conversation along the way, and, although exhausted, had the beautiful speakers hooked up and playing tunes within an hour of arriving. The Chorus will become my main speakers, moving my Forte to another room (pic for size difference). The Chorus may be my last purchase as they really seem to check all the boxes, plus some, but I must admit that the Forte are one remarkable speaker for the footprint they take up. Two great products. Klipsch community group is best place, to find great people, who love good music. Stay safe.

  5. Goodness where do I start with this thread as a whole. 1. Cory HAD some Jubilees on Facebook. The veneered ones are all sold at this point, sold my last two pair on the same day on Sunday. I have a pair of new black factory sealed ones available. Was going to split them up but at this point I'm not interested as I will be stuck with an orphan forever. That's it, other than the original factory prototypes of the new style from 2009. 2. Yes I have some 402's available, but, those are the entire assemblies. That's the stands, horns, and compression drivers, not just the lens. I've had multiple people contact me about the lens but that's not the case. Literally everybody at Klipsch including Roy has said that it's perfectly fine to sell these assemblies by themselves since it's a standalone product with a Klipsch serial number so I'm not being shy about offering those for sale. Yes I have the assemblies. Yes you are free to buy them by themselves. No I don't have just the lens. 3. Since believe it or not I can sense judgmental disdain, or at the minimum I feel that an explanation is warranted since that screenshot is now public... Klipsch customer support told me directly that I can offer individual upgrade parts from the Forte 4 to Forte 3 customers. They weren't advertising it as kit but I can order the parts individually. I got about two "kits" out the door before a Klipsch employee saw it and started hollering about it being unauthorized. As of now I have to halt selling these, perhaps while an internal debate is conducted, perhaps indefinitely, IDK. Don't really care that much lol. Personally I think offering a cheaper and easier upgrade path is the proper thing to do if the enclosure and woofer and radiator and mid horn is the same. Just as one example, the first guy to buy these parts was from Seattle. For him to upgrade easily, he'd have to take two days off from work, I'd have to arrange for a truck to pick up his Forte 3's, send them from Seattle to Kentucky, inspect and test them, send some Forte 4's to Seattle, then sell the used Forte 3's on eBay at a loss, then mess with a bunch of paperwork. If the same thing can happen with a few parts, I'm all for it. But others don't see it the same way. Which is perfectly fine. I have better things to worry about to be honest. So, everyone disregard the Forte 3/4 upgrade comments please.

  7. A lot of factors going in to it all. Not even going to get in to the supply chain of funds or currency, but that will be a really scary thought. The good thing is, I think we're over the hump for the most part. There is no shortage of wood around here and prices are continuing to come down some and hopefully back close to normal by Spring of '22. Supply chain is the big issue, no one can get caught up. Almost get your Arse run over by a 18 wheeler lately on the interstate, well that because they're hiring anyone that can pass a pee test, get a CDL and back a trailer half azz that is. Did Amazon bowl your package down your sidewalk like you just saw on your Ring monitor? Well that's because they're hiring anyone with a pulse too. Covid shut down a big part of manufacturing, especially in factories, mills and anything union affiliated. Oh, also after the Govt bribe, many people figured out uncle Sam would pay them more to sit at home and accelerate their ailments, than to go to work. Then you have the 80% of crap that we use everyday from our good friends in Asia. Yep, they just whacked, stacked and stuffed those poor people in their hovels and put a lock on the door and gate over there, so there goes our trinkets and more importantly, our chip builders. There goes little Johnny's Xbox for last years X-mas, doesn't look like it will be here this Xmas and the plethora of options GM cant pull off without chips for moms new Chevy Tahoe. We have fruit and Veggies here in the US dying on the vine. Oh, and we have, I don't know, 200k or so company coming to visit this year, with another 100k to show in the remaining months and its a good thing they're all highly educated and skilled, because we need more intelligence here. So things just stopped for a while and a certain group thought now was the best time to throw a load of bones on the porch to make sure the dogs laid around instead of hunting. Now the Dogs wont hunt, they're hoping their "master" stays around and will do whatever is necessary to make sure he keeps throwing those bones. Meanwhile the Farmer that owns the Crop house, the dogs and pays the Master is going to go broke and the Dogs and Master have no clue they're going to be eating out of a creek shortly.

  11. Apparently some of these guys here have never lived in a condo, or had a "beach/vacation condo". Heresy is a Condo speaker, maybe Forte, but not LS or Khorn typically. Downsizing to a condo and all of the benefits of that (no maintenance, no landscaping, no lawns to mow,) is typically a more compact lifestyle. Of course people on this Forum have never been shy about telling people that need to buy a new (bigger) house. Most on here don't understand the concept of a minimalist approach, or that direction and why it is attractive to so many people. You can generally tell about how old they are by if they are in the more, and more, bigger and bigger phase, or the time to let some of this go phase. At least if you sell them on here you will know they will be appreciated in the same way your dad did, and the way you will enjoy the perfect Klipsch set up you are keeping. Sometime, less is more. 19. Super Best Audio Friends. I've been trying to find it myself. They ran pink or white noise through it and , while watching the waveform adjusted the dials. After the usual boost and cut, they started using the knobs against each other to make tighter, more pinpoint frequency selections. Its killing me I cannot find it. EDIT: https://www.superbestaudiofriends.org/index.php?threads/schiit-loki-eq-measurements.5153/ As I said, all I'm looking for is a 2-3db cut at about 1500hz. Just a nudge for the dozen or so records that need it.

  21. I recently replaced the crossovers and the membrane of the two tweeters of my LEGEND KLF 20 with those of Bob Crites and after a few months of listening the impression is that the sound is much more detailed and refined an upgrade that is fully worth the money 👍
    1 point
  22. The KLF-20 and 30 are two of the best bang for you bucks speakers that Klipsch ever made. I have a pair of each and they were my mains for years. (That was until I made the mistake of listening to some Klipsch Palladium series speakers and had to have them 🙂. I still have the KLFs but they are in secondary systems now.) If they don't already have them I suggest getting titanium tweeter diaphragms for them, either Crites or the Klipsch ones (used in the Heresy III). I put the Crites ones in mine. I think they are a big improvement over the stock poly ones.

  24. just a suggestion, ERSE makes some very good capacitors, the electrolytics are very good 6% tolerance & they are what crites uses in their complete crossovers & kits. they will ship first class mail for a few bucks if the order is under 16 oz too. they sell many other parts as well & crites uses them for most their other parts. bob also said he prefers their poly caps over other budget caps like dayton etc, i have used them in many speakers including klipsch & they sound great & fit on the board much better than larger caps like sonicaps etc. & fyi: crites says there is no sound improvement in resistors, he uses the cement cast for all his crossovers. im not saying thats 100% true since some others do use the mills types, just passing along what bob has said. https://www.erseaudio.com/

  27. Comments really don't help a bit. The person interested in buying something from a listing is either interested in it or not and, if interested, starts the dialect. Comments on something for sale should have no bearing on helping an item sell. If that were the case, how did classified ads in the newspapers work for all these years? Or Craigslist ads? Or Facebook Marketplace?

  28. Plenty of them stacked up off the coast of NY and CA. Not enough truck drivers to move the goods or warehouses to store them. Both issues are causing price increases as well.
    1 point
  29. I think that they are a great deal at the $300 price point. The least expensive "Heresy 3" around. When I picked them up, I was amazed at the condition. No gunk in the rat fur. At all. No scratches, dings, or dents. No light rust patina on the screw heads. I guess that you can't get any closer in condition to a brand new speaker. I wonder how many people passed on them because they were "Professional" models, or because they only have 1/4" mono input jacks... As @Dave A so eloquently put it: “Pro stuff IS the best secret. Hands down no contest. If all you are looking for is awesome sound avoid veneer.”

  30. @dwilawyerI wholeheartedly agree with the above. Certainly don't need to make the Garage Sale section a paid subscriber section. I would think that @Chadcould code such that For Sale posts do not permit commenting and would age out over the course of say 21-30 days.

  31. Glad to hear you're having fun, to me that's been a big part of this hobby over the last several years. I actually ran my RF-5's with RC-7 drivers (same as the RF-7's) and crossovers and really liked the improvement.

  32. one would think so , but there is a work-around , klipsch pre-drill pilot holes instead of using T-Nuts and they can use machine screws, rather than wood screws - Check the video between 2min35 sec and 2min50 sec ,

  34. I believe you can give feedback in another area. Now, one thing is that the only people who can sell in Barter Town are the paying "Subscribers" which is $25 a year. This prevents every single poster from over crowding that area and not coming back again. Maybe here it could be based on posts. Surely there is a way to prevent people from commenting on a thread....or I would think there would be. This also prevents the "Buddy Bump" system back to the top and keeps stupid comments out along with posters who just comment a word or two to increase their post count. I'm sure there are more logistics to it but would think doable somehow.

  37. Keep the original look! -- of course just my opinion, you should definitely do as you like! Very cool!! I'm wondering about the distortion you mentioned. with Heresies, you should be able to turn up the volume quite high without distorting. I wonder if you may be over-driving the input/driver stage (if you using a modern source, such as CDP). Or if it's simply clipping. If all is good at the volume/s you prefer, with a bit of headroom beyond that, sounds like it's doing fine. I make my own cables, although many on this forum have been very happy with products from here: http://www.bluejeanscable.com If you have long runs of IC, as one response mentioned above, the lower the capacitance, the better, and this company has well-priced low-capacitance cables available at your specific lengths. I agree that many companies go to great lengths to glorify their wire with descriptions of propriety geometries, perfect surface conductors, etc., etc., and dress them up in fancy jackets that do nothing but add to overall cost in the name of cosmetics. I'm sorry if I sound negative! I've become a bit more that way in recent decades.... Love your new amp -- it's amazing how rough (in a really neat way!) something can look and still sound amazing. Have fun!

  45. It needs some cosmetic TLC, I wanted to hear it first. Probably wood all around and a perforated metal face plate. Alternatively I am also looking for a suitable vintage container. The two small knobs are "Hum Balance" and channel balance and will not need easy access. Volume control is a Schiit Vali 2+.
