Liked this guy's tunes since... since he covered "Born Under a Bad Sign" that and a couple others from Crash & Burn were on the list at that exemplary FM 95Q The Album Station. mornin' all Kinda fresh this AM and I'm not moving too good yet. I need to bask in the sun.... It is around 45`F. Windows are half open. It might be 65` in the house... maybe. Prolly close to 55`. I visited Liliput Friday. Went to the school for a minute. I was a head taller than anyone in the place.... and that was staff. Most of the kids were waist high. Granddaughter was all excited to see me. That made my day. I guess I need to buy a shop vac. The old one served me well for many years of regular use. It has been making noises [bearings] for years... 10 or so....I've been shooting Tri-Flow in it. Tri-Flow is basically WD40 with teflon in it...good stuff. Anyway, I was going to use the vac yesterday. Turned it on and all I got was a short groan out of it. No magic smoke. No sparks. No excitement. Thinking about jumping the switch... just to see. The motor doesn't even try. Acts like it's not getting any juice. Hardly worth the effort when I can buy one for less than $100. .

Yeah, seems like I would also need to get some MCMs to explore the pro sound and the pro amps. For now, I recently went to 2" horns (2380 copies) and very large JBL D405 drivers, totally blown away. Never going back to the small stuff.

I just turn up those twin 18's and go with it. Not nearly as violent for the old guy. The chair looks interesting but finding a beautiful blonde to ride with me is the tough part. I don't think the Node is the end all be all. It is just one alternative besides a PC, Mac or a host of other streaming options. Yes it has built in Dacs but I didn't think the Dacs in my Node 2I sounded as good as my stand alone Dac. But you can easily connect straight from the Node to a preamp if you prefer. The convenience of the Nodes are that they are fairly small and wirelessly connect to the Internet. Bluos has an easy to use interface and mine never has any dropouts. I stream from my MacBookPro computer to my KEF LS500 Ws all the time and I think that works great too but the MacBook is much larger than the Node and the LS50 Ws have built in amps, a Dac and DSP. Many ways to access music. The Node is just one way that sounds pretty good to my ears. But... I still like vinyl so wtf do I know???

Shop vacs = work. I just fire up the blower. Works great on your car interior too! Get rid of the junk, roll the windows down and have at it. Found $20 one day that flew out from under my seat. 😂

They're hard to kill but it can be done. I had one for years and the metal canister finally rusted out on it. I took the latches off of it and mounted them on a 5 gallon plastic bucket and got who knows how many more years out of it. At the end of its life it would screech as it slowed down when powering off. One day I actually did get the magic smoke and that was it. Must have gotten 20 years out of it and a lot of that was using it as a wet vac.

One of the most important parts of a preamp is the volume control. When you go from an ALPs pot to something like a transformer or LED attenuator the difference is not subtle. Stepped attenuators with silver contacts are very good too.

I still vote for veneer and make the dog hiuse look like a Belle. Here is pic of mine i didnt veneer the inside of dog house just sanded and stained with cherry stain. But this also gives you the chance to put some good screws in the side to stiffen the panels up. You can not even make mine move with a knee and hands. The veneer also helps stiffen the sides up also I think.

Jason, that’s really not like him at all. I can’t imagine what might have happened but I think the best solution is to either try to get in there personally or send someone, being very understanding that some thing odd may have occurred. That’s all I can think of. 18 months is really unacceptable, so something is definitely wrong here. PM me if you like.

Not exactly what you asked, but similar. I’m using RB-61II as front height speakers with La Scalas & Heresys in a 5.1.2. They work well in that role. But I doubt they’d be better than RS7s.

Damn man those speakers aren't even that old!! I've seen / owned 30+ year old speakers in better shape... sad. Still a decent deal I guess if they were still the original price I'd be clicking buy it now right now, at $3800 I think I'll pass, would rather spend a little more than that for something minty.

I’m surprised that a single 12” sub can keep up with the output of a pair of lascalas. My vote is for a couple of 15” subs. That’ll git er done. 2nd choice is a good vinyl front end. Shakey

In the past couple of years, my wife has bought some vinyl records for me, as a present. But this week, a first: she bought a vinyl (double) album for herself: Bart Peeters, De Kat Zat op de Krant. He's a gifted, multitalented person and hugely popular in the Dutch speaking part of Belgium. My wife's a fan, and she has most of his music, if not all, on CDs. So I asked her, why spinning vinyl this time? After pausing and reflecting somewhat, she said she liked the warmth of the sound, the tactile experience, the nostalgic, cosiness of it. I'm teasing her about the fact that she ordered a signed album and she secretely has a crush on him! 🤣
