  4. Not at all I came home and fired up my system and it still sounds great. BUT the Jubilee is on a level I did not think was possible. You absolutely have to hear it to believe it.

  5. Had a chance to get one of my favorite speakers to play with last week. So while cleaning it up and fixing it up I decided to try a set of LMAHL's like the custom set made for a customer recently. As an aside here the only thing that beats a Chorus 1 in my book is a KP-301 and so I really like restoring these. Anyway painted black and with no engraving because two forum members wore me down with incessant whining. Well they weren't that bad but I get to be a martyr this way. They came to me with no grilles and with the little circle thing which I have to admit I like also.

  6. simple is better for folks like me that want a turn key unit and am struggling now with learning two new software packages with the PRO unit... xilica and REW. it will just take some time to get it down.

  7. Really seems that as discussed earlier in another thread, this was designed to be a plug and play. Would say that having an onboard DSP unit, takes all the fuss out of having to dial in a crossover for the set-up and end user, consumers convenience. A bit of a turnkey unit. Seems like the ultimate came into the design by, keeping it simple, yet good. Very good by all who attended, by the conversation afforded here.

  8. The miniDSP unit was just being used by Roy to sum the stereo music into mono for the A/B mono comparison of one Heritage Jubilee and one Underground Jubilee the first day. It was not used in the setup the second day during the stereo Heritage Jubilee listening sessions.

  9. I don't know a darn thing about any of it and don't care. hahahaha I trust Chief Bonehead to take me there. Those have GOT to sound ahhhhmazing. The underground seems to think so. Btw, does anyone know where I can get an interest free loan @ 72??? Cory???

  13. Well that was just too much good stuff to too close to not throw my hat into the ring. Also pretty sure I see at least 4 LaScalas in there. I wouldn't be opposed to splitting this haul with someone either.

  14. sorry bro. Iā€™m sure you could do much better. As for me, Iā€™m tapped out, thatā€™s the best I can do. If you guys are debating where the ports are, Iā€™m pretty sure Roy specifically told us in the class that the ports are on the bottom so it can couple with the ground.

  16. Been experimenting with different crossover points. I'm really liking 120Hz for music. These THTs work incredibly well with kick drums and bass guitar. Just crazy output.

  17. If you are asking about a developing medical condition, wouldn't it make more sense to speak with a medical type about this. IMO, an appt with an ENT would be wise, since they can rule out some bad things (a primary care provider won't have a sufficient background). Asking a bunch of audio enthusiasts is only going to get you some suspect advice. Good luck, -Tom

  26. You will likely need a sub with those speakers I had a pair and they sounded great but a little thin without a sub.

  27. I'd experiment with placement a bit more 2ft from the back wall may be too far out especially if not in corners or near side walls. My typical starting point for Chorus II's is about 8 inches from the back wall and 18 inches from the side walls. Crites is a great resource he sells caps / rebuild kits and speaker fabric among other things speaker related.

  31. Note the 3 minute ā€œautomatic extensionā€ policy. Even with that policy, a bid sniping service would be valuable. I predict the winning bid more than doubling the existing high bid of $1,025.00 in the closing minutes of the auction. Even without a sniped bid, bidding before the closing minutes only drives up the final price. Bid Extension If a bid is placed during the final 3 minutes of an auction, the auction's current end time will automatically extend for additional 3 minutes. This will continue until no bids are placed during the last three minutes. Since most bidding occurs during the final minutes of an auction, this allows all bidders a sufficient amount of time to continue bidding. close

  32. Iā€™ll try to cover as much detail as I can remember and if I am mistaken about anything I would appreciate Roy correcting, clarifying or adding to my descriptions/information. (1) The Jubilee LF Horn consist of (2) 12ā€ drivers to improve efficiency and the (3) Vents are located in the lowest position because they perform better when they are coupled closest to the floor of the listening space. The best location of the vents was learned during the development of the KPT-HLS-1802 and verified during the development of the KPT-HLS-1502 and now the Jubilee LF has also verified that research. (2) The Jubilee LF Horn has a true 20Hz flare rate while the ā€œUnderground Jubileeā€ and Klipschorn have 40Hz flare rates so this along with the (2) 12ā€ Drivers + Vents + Back Chamber allows the Jubilee LF Horn to reach a solid 18Hz on its low end performance. Note also the mouth area of the Jubilee LF Horn is much larger than the ā€œUnderground Jubileeā€ which also leads to a performance increase. (3) The Jubilee LF Horn has been designed with improved splay angles of the Bifurcated Mouths which increases performance of the polars to a higher frequency before the cloverleaf effect of polars from Bifurcated Mouths begin to appear. This was an area of improvement that the ā€œUnderground Jubilee LF Horn offered over the Klipschorn LF Horn. This feature improves the performance and consistency of the polars in the crossover regions of the Jubilee LF Horn and the Jubilee HF Horn when compared to the ā€œUnderground Jubileeā€ which was the best we have had when it was developed until now. (4) The Jubilee HF Horn consist of the Klipsch K693 (Celestion Axi2050) driver mounted to the K402 Horn and Royā€™s design of a Phase Plug Extension which optimizes the coupling and polars of the Jubilee HF Horn/Driver. Roy has extended the polar control of the horn/driver to 19kHz which up until now was limited to ~6.8kHz with all the 2ā€ exit drivers internal phase plug controlling the frequencies above that point. This improves clarity of imaging by allowing a more consistent specific location and consistency of image movements within the soundstage with less wandering due to polar shifting with frequency of previous designs without the newly developed phase plug extension. The K693/K402 combination brings another area of improvement versus past designs by lowering the low end frequency extension of the Jubilee HF Horn/Driver combination. This allows improvements in the Polar Control to a significantly lower frequency and allows a wider range of frequencies to be handled by the K402 Horn. This lower polar control of the Jubilee HF Horn and the higher polar control of the Jubilee LF Horn allows the apparent seamless blending of the Horns in the crossover region which is if I remember correctly about 270Hz electrically and 340Hz acoustically. (5) The DSP unit has both IIR and FIR filter capabilities which allows the optimization of Frequency and Phase of the Jubilee System. It has both Balanced and Unbalance Inputs/Outputs. The LF and HF both have Level Controls to allow optimizing when using dissimilar amplifier designs for the LF Horns and HF Horns. So with all that said how did it sound to meā€¦.šŸ˜„ Sorry but ā€¦Iā€™ll have to go into this tomorrow when I have time because I want to describe my experience as accurately as possible and its late and Iā€™m tired.
