  1. On to side two... And a shot from inside the gatefold Fleetwood Mac - Mystery To Me.

  2. I have reinstalled my original K77 Alnico. Before I describe the comparison to the K77M and my K77 Alnico of remagnetization (from now on K77) I would like to say that I do not know exactly about the K77M if they have the original diaphragms. I have never opened them. I bought them in April from an ebay dealer. He had butchered a very good condition 1981 Heresy 1 because the parts bring more money. I saw all the photos because I was also interested in the K55V dual phase plug but the price incl. shipping and customs was absolutely unprofitable for me. So I strongly assume that the K77M have their original diaphragms because the Heresy looked like it had never been opened, really. My 6 months with the K77M. To put it bluntly I was very disappointed. For this reason my preface about the originality of the diaphragms. The M sounds flat and unfortunately also very metallic. It has more energy than my original K77 before remagnetization. I do not want to talk further about the M. It made the whole speaker sound "flat" and two-dimensional even without soul. The existing volume of the M did nothing to the overall sound of the Lascala. The M did not "marry". The K77 was already very emotional before the remagnetization...in quiet passages, mainly strings. But overall it sounded metallic and spiky in the negative sense. Now after the remagnetization I a) do not recognize the K77 and b) the whole Lascala sounds like transformed. My hope for effect that quiet strings sound so beautiful was completely exceeded. The issues reported about a K77 are absolutely reduced to a minimum. So the fried bacon hiss in particular. (As described in the other thread I will rework the openings in the motor board. this could also mean a positive effect in this context). But now the whole Lascala down to the bass sounds much more authoritative with joy making impulse with a grin on my face. The mids are much more articulate and there is no separation between squaker and tweeter. You'll just have to take my experience on faith. That's all I can do. It's such a big difference from the K77 M that I'm seriously tempted to put the M back in and record both tweeters in comparison. If it is more than psychological illusion then one must be able to hear the difference in comparison objectively on youtube with headphones. The frequency response of the K77 is now so that they are powerful in their lower frequencies and the highs are again existent that were no longer audible before the remagnetization. but they are very silky and pleasant on the ear. generally a softer slope than the K77M. Overall, the workshop measured a gain of 1.5 db. I asked for it again in writing today and they confirmed it. I wanted to have the measurement but they said that was not saved and it was measured in the near range and that is not so meaningful said the store. Anyway...the difference is significant. I am especially taken by how incredibly powerful impulses of snares etc. in the middle have now become. The diaphragms were tested (on one of the tweeters) against brand new ones. they did not suffer and were left original. With the K55V it was different. Their diaphragms had become much worse in contrast to new ones I installed. Next i will have my K55V remagnetized but i don't know if i will experience such a wow effect as with the K77 again. Anyone who has K77 alnico give them a chance before installing something completely different as a tweeter. My K77s have never been abused yet they have lost significant magnetic power over 44 years. Then the same will be true for your K77 because no one is younger than 42 years. Man am i glad i gave the K77 (and myself) that chance. All in all including shipping within germany it is 56€. A huge step towards the new originality of my Lascalas. Please believe me, not a single word is an exaggeration. And I have not smoked herbs....

  3. Congratulations on your good taste. "Mystery To Me" is often under appreciated like most pre - Buckingham & Nicks Fleetwood Mac music. I think it's a terrific album.

  7. Thanks Full Range. Here is a photo of my main Stereo. It's currently in temp storage. I've moved, and am working on new and improved music room. Hopefully I'll have it completed in beginning of the New Year. It consists of two 1960 Dynaco ST-70's, a Tube Nirvana (Holger Audio) pre-amp and Phono stage. A VPI Prime TT, Klipschorns and Heresy's. I'm currently listening to an Outlaw Receiver, a Creek phono stage, Linn Sondek LP12 TT, and an OPPO digital player, and my trusty Cornwalls. It's all in my shop. Cheers

  8. Please have a look from 5:50 to 6:10. This is a documentation in German TV about the shop who did my K77. The magnets must be clamped very tightly. Otherwise, they can shoot through the ceiling or through the wall of the house. Here you can see what this two guys are doing since 1981. Very enthusiastic. https://youtube.com/user/LspWerkstatt

  9. Good, Great stuff. Thanks Mossy, good to "see ya" again. Welcome area51 you fit the bill perfectly here! And DJ Dave, you ever start culling the herd... I'll downshift the Torqueflight, floor it, be there in a flash and you wouldn't be able to hide... Need more coffee, just dreaming. No mopar anymore, no redneck there (I don't think) it's all youtube pulled up that fit me this am.

  11. Same here. I like the Buckingham & Nicks version of the band a lot. I also like the earlier versions of the band a lot. Lyndsey Buckingham is an exceptional talent. I liked the Bob Welch version, too and I have been nuts for Christine since her days with Chicken Shack.

  12. Thanks Area 51. I couldn't agree more. I am a huge Peter Green and Jeremy Spencer Fleetwood Mac fan as well. At the time, I was disappointed in the Buckingham Nick's addition. But in fairness, I saw them in '77 and the Buckingham Nick's Mac rocked out. I WAS BLOWN AWAY. Never expected it. Buckingham is a hell of a guitarist. Cheers

  14. Ha-Haaa... I feel the same when I see photos of your hi-fi. Love the added Sansui. In the 80's had the AU 999 driving my Cornwalls. I kick myself for selling it. I thought I needed a Revox B-251... Cheers

  16. Ian Anderson? I though he was Jethro Tull? Wait, what? hahaha Great collection of hits and so simple to cover "some" of the bases when I'm feelin it. Have most of his stuff already but I'm too lame to pull it all out. hahaha Sure glad the table is running again and it does sound great w/the caps. Don't think I'll ever get thru this stack of stuff sittin here. lol

  17. Any guy that can play a free out door venue that I can hit I'm on it! As most of you know I'm talking about Albert Cummings. Smooth rock/blues and this is his latest from 2020 so I snagged it and paid him back for the free gig. It's a great album but what surprised me was he recorded it @ FAME Studio in Muscle Shoals! So yea, there's that but he called in Jim Gaines to produce it. SRV & Carlos Santana's main man. It's got that Muscle Shoals elusive midas touch recorded in the same studio as Aretha, the Allmans & so many others cranked out their magic. Great mix and worth $20 any day of the week imo.

  18. Ha! After coffee I slipped out to a guys lumber yard. I was thinking oak slab open bottom table for the big screen, wide enough for a newer style w/the wider legs. Actually, thinking about a larger flat screen and running it thru the LS & PrimaLuna. He's cool with the idea but he's also buried in wood. This guy has everything and drops trees, slabs and builds for people he knows. Told me he just finished a $19k black walnut conference table. Seriously? I'm CHEAP! Just found the perfect thing on fb market place for $25 and it's gonna work perfectly. Kids gonna deliver it for $50 and he's 25 miles one way. He wanted $35 but I told him $50. See what a nice guy I am? IF he ONLY knew what I was going to do with it and how much $$ I was saving??? Oh, heck yea, I'm down! That big sub cabinet will fit under it perfectly and it's wide enough for any new TV I'd want. Yes Sir, that's the way things around here go down!

  20. Coffee? Hmmmm, well maybe that SHOULD happen if I want to get anything done today. Think it's gonna be a garage day today. Picked up a new Yamaha (I think) receiver a while back and put a pair of KG-4.5s out there with an el cheapo old cd player. It works. Gotta move the receiver so the remote works and just organize the place in general with winter coming. That place is as bad as my album cabinet/shelves. Stuffed. Got a book laying here too. hmmmmm Get on up here @JohnJ Two of us thinking about it works for me. lol

  23. Grinding thru the new stack finally! Spent the day out in Sherwood Forest taking care of the leaves here and at a couple neighbors. Got a 5' Cub Cadet sweeper so just cruisin around in the nice weather. Lady next door is 97 and doesn't even come outside and another neighbor just had a couple miles of his intestine removed due to cancer. Got done in the nick of time the city showed up as I was finishing. Funny how everyone is coming out with their 50th Anniversary Greatest hits lp's now. Sure I got some since most are remastered and sound great. You'll find yourself trying to decide whether you like the studio version or the live version. They did it right again just like always. Recorded at the Beacon and Orpheum theaters live? Two great venues right there and trust me "Maxine" jumps outta my LS. Yea, ya almost gotta! Well, I did anyway.

  24. Hello KROCK, The tapes are stored in the box. Sometimes, I'll leave a tape on the machine, but slack the tape away from the heads. That's only for the night, if it happens at all. All the reel tapes and cassette tapes are in a climate control environment. Thanks, I have two Otari 5050's A, BII and Blll. A 2 Track High Speed Revox B-77 MK-II, and a 4 track TEAC X-10R.

  25. Dave, please let google translate this website. https://www.lautsprecher-manufaktur.de/index.php/werkstatt/reconing-sp-1327173451 It cost me ca. 60€ for two K77 inclusive dismantling and reassemble the voice coils and the lenses by the workshop including both shippings. Somewhere here Randy001 has posted an US workshop who offers a similar job just yesterday. It is warranted just because this K77 alnico are at least 42 years of age. Because after that period of time they were discontinued. An alnico magnet loses power just by playing over the decades even if the playing is softly because the voice coil built up its own magnetic field which diminishes the power of the permanent alnico magnet during so many years. And I could clearly hear the difference between the old status and the now remagnetized one. A ferrite has not this kind of issue and will perform with equal strength of magnetic power over decades. Only I prefer the sound of alnicos especially in the case of a K77.

  28. Have a good one guys & gals. Gotta run up to the local grocer and see if I can get a good bottom round roast. After the only redmeat for me has been venison for the past month I want some of the sweet stuff this week. Turkey was $3.00/lb for an under 10#er, geeze. Should have looked at the warehouse but forgot to.

  31. Opera Prima speakers hand made in Italy, mine are No 531. 91dB sensitivity, not bad for such a small bookshelve. These were discounted, so I jumped on them for my small room setup. I auditioned them in audioshop and these were better than anything I have heard in this price range.

  37. Hope this is not viewed as high jacking or thread crapping, but I came to a point here recently that I wanted an interim small system as I devise a plan to deal with some of my other amps. The raspberry I was using with larger components so it stayed in place. It has a Allo Digione feeding a Khadas ToneBoard I just got, which I have been curious about, and an Aiyima A07, which runs off the TPA3255 chip. I put the roku remote for scale. This sounds really good on a set of RB-75s

Can't wait for another fall cleaning up all the neighbor's leaves in my yard. 65 tomorrow but w/my luck the city will be around tomorrow sucking them up. Don't wanna miss it! hahaha F my life! Every year I get a celebratory punch in the nuts from the neighbors... Guess I really piss 'em off! 😂
