  2. quick update, I opened the terminal cup on the back and saw that the crossover had fallen and was leaning against the woofer. First order of business is to check the connections. The positive connected to the woofer was out, so reconnect that. Reinstall the crossover doubling up the amount of sticky Velcro so that it adheres better. Move on to squawker, everything good there. move on to the tweeter, oops, one wire not connected and the “Female Disconnect F” spade or shoe is snapped in half. So off to True Value for a lifetime supply of 16-14 gauge connectors. Back down to the basement I go. I can only imagine the same problems or worse exists in the other Forte. Thanks again for the help, hopefully I will be up and running shortly.

  5. I have for sale an original (version I) Juicy Music Peach pre-amp. I originally purchased this from our highly respected @Daddy Dee back in December of 2005 (may he rest in peace). It has had very little use since I’ve owned it due to a variety of reasons (very limited time for listening, not having primary system setup over several years, and owning a few other similarly high quality pre-amps). As a result of this, I would guestimate it has had about two years of mostly weekend use since I’ve owned it and it has sat protected in its box for at least 14 of the years that I’ve owned it. It comes with its original box and manual. The pre-amp is in overall excellent condition. Looking it over the only defects I find are some very, very slight indentations on the top of the case that are only visible if you look very closely under lighting. They look as if a wire may have been sitting on top of the wooden case and some weight or pressure was applied to it. Other than that, it is probably in about the same condition it was when shipped new. Functionally, I just had it set up recently and it is working as I remember when I used it last several years ago (still sounding great!). Price is $OLD. This price includes transaction fees (e.g., PayPal) as well as shipping and insurance anywhere within the continental U.S. For other locations, contact me and I can estimate the cost. For security reasons, buyer must have been a member of the Klipsch Forum for at least six months with at least 10 posts as of the time of this ad being posted. For potential buyers that don’t meet that criteria, I will still consider selling but payment must be made with a U.S. Postal Money Order and I will not ship until funds have cleared. Please note that I do not live on the forum so you won’t always get an immediate response. I will however ensure I’m checking this thread and PMs at least daily. Edit: Pre-amp is located in DFW. Discount will be applied for those that can pick it up in person.

  7. Little bird in the oven, other stuff done already. I won't try to do it at the last minute ever again, murphy gets me all the twenty times I've tried. Enjoy @grasshopper Worst was a cuz-in-law that was lit, she pulled the pan off the top of the fridge out of curiosity.... Dumped turkey drippings/broth all over her and the kitchen. I did feel bad for her, didn't have her kind of clothes to change into after she showered. New addition.. bacon burgers have been added by my bro. Surprises never cease!

  12. Yeah brother this thing really is fantastic IMO. It still seems to be getting better and better or I'm just acclimating to it more and more. I can't get over how much more bass this thing puts out compared to my Onkyo AVR. This amp is basically allowing me to rediscover or discover my Cornwall IVs for the first time. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed my CWIVs for many months with that Onkyo AVR, but damn I had no idea what I was missing out on. I honestly expected the difference to be more subtle.

  13. What is perplexing is that both speakers are showing the problem. Well, at least no one has yet suggested that you need ---- 1) to use a tube amp, 2) to use a SS amp, 3) use vinyl, 4) put a few inches of foam along the south wall, 5) replace all crossover caps with $800 poly-metal-film-copper-etc caps. The last time something like this happened to me, I had modified something and intended to get back and finish it up. Instead I put the item in a closet and forgot I was in the middle of something and 2 years later I fired it up and it sounded like crap. I hope you have not fallen into my bad habits.

  18. This is one of those "You're nuts but I gotta albums!" I'm really glad I did too because it's pretty magical just like I thought it would be. Sure it's Gaga but Tony Bennett too? Great one to pick up if ya want those Klipsch of yours to truly shine! Fantastic orchestra with that big sound and just a fun album. Posting the goodies below but I'd certainly buy it again! Love for Sale is the second and final collaborative album by American singers Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga, released on September 30, 2021, by Columbia and Interscope Records. It is the sixty-first (final) studio album of Bennett's career, and Gaga's seventh. Following Cheek to Cheek (2014), the duo's first collaborative album, Love for Sale was recorded between 2018 and early 2020, consisting of their renditions of various jazz standards by American composer Cole Porter, to whom the record is a tribute.

  19. Think I may have posted this before but I was needing it again today. Ole Shakey in Manhattan in 1970 shines on this lp. Acoustic and in his prime vocally and it was just a stripped down version and he kills it Amaizng how good it really sounds.

  21. It was the movers, I moved all of my equipment, cds, LPs, tapes, myself but lugging the Fortes around by myself was a bridge too far. I figured loading them in and out of my Jeep would have been a disaster, probably ruining the veneer, etc. I foolishly thought professional movers would have treated them with the respect I asked for but good help is hard to find these days. At least when I bought your Cornwalls, you helped me load them up! 😀

  23. I have two sets of KSB-3.1 speakers and they out perform my restored bookcase collection (EPI M50 (3 pairs), Baby Advents (2 pairs), AR-18b (two pairs), AR-18s (2 pairs), Boston Acoustics A6 (one Pair), AR-28S (a single orphan)) Don't let those metal grills fool you. These are great speakers!

  24. this is a big possibility too but he said he tried other speakers & they sounded ok so might be an internal issue. or maybe the placement in the basement with the rear passive of the fortes just isnt working? get them in or close to corners & see if that helps the bass. would be very strange if both speakers had wires with crimped connections come loose from the xover or woofer terminals, dont think rough handling or pot holes would cause that to happen without some visible damage to the cabinets. but ya never know. i let my now EX brother in law borrow my pair of epic cf4s for his makeshift theater room in a basement & he complained they had no bass when as most know epics have great bass... turns out his room had a terrible null in his seating position & he had the speakers far away from corners or a rear wall... that plus his older AVR defaulted to "sub on" (but he didnt have a sub hooked up) which in turn cut the bass at 80hz to the main speakers. those 2 or 3 things combined made the big dual 12" woofer epics sound like a ghetto blaster. we moved them into the corners & changed the AVR settings & things were much better but still not as strong of bass compared to when they were upstairs in my living room. basements can be weird for sound depending on room dimensions & seating positions.

  25. The current line is PSU by 1 1/2 over MSU. I’m surprised it’s not larger, especially after Sparty’s beat down last week. The best thing about MSU vs PSU is that the loser has the “reward” of NOT having to store, for another year, the ugliest rivalry trophy in all of college football.

  27. Nicely done! Your speakers look awesome. That stuff looks to work really well. Since the cup stain is pretty light on mine, I *might* leave what ever doesn't get sanded out (but we will see). I don't mind a few light battle scars. Thank you. Since my second post didn't show the additional pics, here they are (going to delete the other one). The top is a bit darker than the sides (I forgot to dilute with mineral spirits first) and one small drip is noticeable when you are looking at it, but so far all that have seen it in person are impressed with the difference from the other (untouched) speaker. I'm looking forward to doing that one too (hopefully in the next few days), but I'm also working on wiring up an arcade in the office too.

  28. Update... I located both a replacement K-105-K horn assembly and a Klipsch 2-way Speaker Crossover (PN: 116436) off eBay. I did a "shot gun" replacement of both parts on the suspect RB-5. It's now alive and making beautiful music. I also remove the round grills and did some cabinet repair to fix the reamed out MDF material the cretin created when he muscled the four screws in. The grills were reinstalled using carefully sized nylon standoffs under each of the four grill hold-down lugs to fix the geometry

  29. Really? I had a hint 6 on my 104 dB JBLs and it was SUPER quiet (nothing is silent on 104 dB speakers if you put your ear up to them). Perhaps dedicated electrical outlet and minimal crossing of wires contributed? Who knows.

  31. I've been listening for several days now. I think this might be the case. I've actually never really maxed out an amp, so I wasn't sure what it sounded like, but this must be the issue. The speakers seem completely fine. I do believe one side of the track has heavier bass than the other, but I don't currently know how to measure that. I appreciate everyone's help here. I was losing my mind.

  32. Thanks for the heads up. Truth be told, I was getting pretty medium responses so I let the craigslist ad lapse, but I'm meeting a buyer tonight for the CF4's and will possibly post the KV4 under it's own thread after the holidays.

  33. The cable debate reminds me of the discussions I'm currently having with my 7 year old. I can tell her whole-heartedly that it is better to believe in Santa Clause because I recall the added wonderment this belief added to Christmas. But as an adult, I realize that the perpetuation of this myth is really a ploy to sell more toys. If you wish to cling to the wonderment, more power to you. If you want rational people to take you seriously, you should really have better support than- "your system just isn't resolving enough".

  34. Yes and there really are "Santa Ana" winds. They blow the warmer(sometimes hot) air from the Mohave desert east of coastal So Cal towards the ocean. Usually the winds blow in the opposite direction from the ocean towards the east.

  35. On a roll and unzipped another one. This group just never stops... Fresh Aire 7 was the seventh album in new age musical group Mannheim Steamroller's Fresh Aire series. The album was originally released in 1990 and peaked at #77 on the Billboard album chart in December of that year. Its theme is based on the number seven. The album won a Grammy Award for best New Age album in 1991.

  36. @Mossy bottom When I heard about her w/him it really made me wonder what she was all about. Riding his fame, wanting to be his latest flame? Just all of it with her. Sure I know she's genuine but really? He's in pretty bad shape from what I've read but she's always around him, which I think is a good thing. Sure it's all about her but it's just refreshing to hear them come together once again with his guys in the orchestra. One of those bittersweet moments perhaps. It's a nice ride and was over before I knew it.

  40. Picked this up since it was their first studio album released in 1983. Pretty nice album. The Hurting is the debut studio album by British new wave band Tears for Fears, released on 7 March 1983. The album peaked at No. 1 on the UK Albums Chart in its second week of release, and was certified Gold by the BPI within three weeks of release. It reached Platinum status in January 1985. The album also entered the Top 40 in several other countries including Canada, Germany and Australia. The Hurting is a loose concept album focusing on themes of child abuse, psychological trauma and depression. Despite its morbid subject matter, the album was a huge commercial success and contains Tears for Fears' first three hit singles – "Mad World", "Change", and "Pale Shelter" – all of which reached the top five in the UK and the Top 40 internationally. It also contains a new version of the band's first single, "Suffer the Children", which had originally been released in 1981, while the album version of "Pale Shelter" is also a new recording.

  42. Also new Klipsch owner! Was able to find some beautiful 1975 Heresys with oiled walnut finish. All original drivers (alnico K-77 tweeters, K-55-V mids, alnico K-22 woofers). Caps were updated, but will probably replace them with some better ones. Quite happy.
