  6. That looks like a maybe or maybe not premeditated Hit Piece of an article @MeloManiac Not saying that in favor of the OnZow even though I have to disclose that I have a box of that goop I've dipped my stylus in twice. I also don't have a microscope right now! Saying this because the substance is clear and free of dirt when new. If you dip your stylus where it is clean and clear of dirt - how could you get it dirty? I think you would have to smash the cartridge into a soiled blob to get the needle and cantilever covered in soil. You can see what comes off when you lightly touch it to the diamond. I did not think to squash it completely onto the advanced tapered Boron cantilever. You have to watch the magicians hands. Do you wash your car from the wheels and the under carriage first without rinsing the mud out of the wash rag? Or do you start at the roof and work your way down rinsing the rag if it gets soiled? I'm sure you would not scratch the paint on your vehicle just to get it clean... that's ignorant. So is the abuse I described above. So did that author use the product after it's useful life-span? As in using it badly soiled on his expensive equipment? Could be a case of not RTFM!

  20. Butterworth for the values previously posted. Bessel - 1.65uF / 0.18mH / 8.24uF = 6000 Hz @ 8 (impedance) Today, if you have some technical or even computer skills, most hobbyist can use DATS to measure impedance and REW for room measurements. Both DATS and a good microphone for REW will only set you back $250. Not a lot of money for very powerful tools if you are into speakers or the DIY speaker hobby. If for some reason, you are not skilled, there is always another hobbyist willing to help.

  21. Regarding meaning, I think its playing with the idea of double vision: imagine the confusion an unsuspecting drinker might have as they're handed this bottle opener after already having a few... they look down at the bottle they're about to open and pause... thinking, "whoa, ... am I seeing double, or does this crazy opener actually have two sets of eyes?" ... and everybody laughs!

And don't forget I go through 90+ pounds of coffee just at home.. that = $986 for the year... I will stick to $540 for the year... that works for me..

  24. This Spartan is now all GO BLUE. I want The Wolverines to beat Iowa in the B1G Championship game and to represent B1G well in CFP. @rplace Although, I must admit my motives are somewhat selfish. Michigan victories boost MSU’s bowl stock, as the school to hand U of M its only loss. Also, my HOLEP surgery this summer at U of M Hospital (GO BLUE) now makes it easier for this Spartan to GO YELLOW.

  27. Many prefer the older AA crossover network including myself. The more advanced crossovers become the more they try and filter "unwanted" frequencies from a specific driver. But with Klipsch heritage models many of us just prefer the AA network vs the steeper AL network. Try the AA filter

  30. If you know how to solder take a look at the Bottlehead Moreplay preamp kit. It uses 6V6 tubes, fun to build and sounds great. There are several other tubes that you can roll such as 6AQ5, 7C7 and 6CM6. Here's a photo of mine:

  31. Bingo dead on. Amplifiers definitely need good measurements to a certain degree but there are ones not listed in the reviews or sales literature. For example reactive load instability problems giving rise to ringing or overload recovery dynamics. Measurements are taken on resistive loads while we need them to drive reactive loads. Besides performance I mentioned people like to own things that you purchase once and never have to purchase another one again, I am one. Made in America products designed for long service life and sustainability. This does not need to come at a huge price tag, there is a grossness of bling bling in the audio world and yes bias of spending huge bucks where some cheap small amp does 98% of what it does. I am a little more zen in my approach, I like hand made sustainable devices. I have salvaged so many parts I can easily make many very nice amplifiers on a beer budget. Price isn't everything, I am not attacking this because of the price, in fact I personally endorse it and say it's amazing really and perfect for the vast majority of people. Then there are weirdo's like me that just do things differently. More importantly, I have heard so many amplifiers in my life and poured over the technical objective facts along with the subjective personal experiences that I know there are minor differences between topologies that just won't show up on resistive load testing but show up in the real world with reactive loads and human beings pushing things further than they should. Yes there should always be adequate headroom, but that just isn't the case many times. Many measurements show normal operating conditions but we know someone somewhere will push it harder than they should and here are where topologies will sound way different even though the specs show the same on a resistive load under normal operating conditions; e.g. <max power. People clip from transients far more often than you care to think.

  32. Yeah it was pretty unexpected. He originally bought a model that was a year older through Facebook marketplace but it was DOA. He returned that and got his money back. Then he bought this one for me, which he said he actually paid less for. Sony ES gear is fantastic. I've had a few ES items over the years and so has my friend.

  33. Good to know. One negative doesn't even come close to the feedback I see.... That doesn't make sense. Anyhow, if your experiences were positive, all that matters.

  34. I've bought a dozen amps, DACs and CD players from them through their Ebay store, absolutely nothing wrong with buying through here. If you read the feedback, the only negative was that the address on file was not their current address, and they didn't receive their order because of that.

  39. HAD to get this one to "one up" @billybob! 😂 I'd have bought it anyway though. Shocking Blue was a Dutch rock band formed in The Hague in 1967. They had a number of psychedelic rock hits throughout the counterculture movement during the 1960s and early 1970s, including "Send Me a Postcard" and "Venus", which became their biggest hit and reached number one on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and many other countries during 1969 and 1970. The band sold 13.5 million records by 1973 but disbanded in 1974. Great old album from 1969!

  44. Today I renamed the main forum member group to "New Members", and created a new group called "Regulars". This is mainly to help prevent spambots from creating accounts just to fill profile fields with spam links. "New Members" are for members who have less than 10 posts. Upon their 10th post, they are moved to the "Regulars" group automatically. The "New Members" group has most of the same permissions as the old "Members" group, with the key exceptions being they cannot edit profile fields or use signatures. If you have any questions, please send me a Private Message. Thanks!
