  4. I bought 'In Trance' as a teenager back in the 1980s. My favorite songs are 'In Trance' and 'Dark Lady'. It helped me survive a difficult domestic situation (bipolar mom) and inspired me to start writing short stories, which ultimately lead to my profession as a language teacher and author...

  5. And here is a nice German record with a superb blue amp handcrafted in Bavaria (Schwarzach am Main) by a craftsman. The fact that the record is superbly recorded and that it spins at 45 rpm makes the sound fantastic, my CW's K33Es are thrilled It's a little nod to our friend @MicroMara

  7. My native language is Dutch and I teach Dutch and English in a Belgian highschool for 16-18 year old students. (I have a master degree in Literary Theory and Comparative Literary Study, so we talk a lot about novels, movies and songs in my lessons. I recently taught my students about Johnny Cash in 1969 with the song San Quentin!) My wife studied languages too: she works in a law firm but she is officially a translator (Dutch/French/German/English). She's also a gifted multi-instrumentalist (piano, cello, oboe and flute).

  8. I also like coffee very much , today I received 2 new varieties " La Mocca " . This balanced medium roast from Ethiopia impresses with its pronounced citrus and caramel notes and dark chocolate in the taste. The " Viennese Mild " comes from Austria . It is offered and sold only in a Viennese coffee roastery. This blend impresses with its light roast with very mild and delicate character. Then I love Chai teas from India. These are black teas with exotic spices , such as ginger , cinnamon , carmadon , clove and other spices . These teas are prepared with one-third water and two-thirds hot milk.

  10. Hi, It's Montpellier in France Occitanie region for me, beautiful coincidence 😁 I have already seen many names of cities that I know while walking around with google maps and street: these virtual trips are beautiful. I know that there are many cities in your area in America which bear the names of European cities (French, Spanish, English, Irish, German ...), certainly related to the founders of these cities. Chameleons : nice

  15. Here is a Google translation of the user manual of the amplifier from German to English, it is a class AB with input stages in class A. The finest audio technology The 2002PCA from the PCA professional series is a powerful stereo power amplifier. The modern circuit technology and the extremely robust, complex processing are the A guarantee for excellent audio performance paired with absolute reliability plus one excellent price / performance ratio. State-of-the-art power transistors guarantee not only an excellent sound, but also a high level of operational reliability among the extreme demands of tough tour operation. "The show must go on". Innovative technology The technology used, namely the control of the power transistors through a fully symmetrical HIGH-SPEED Class A driver circuit and by a relative high quiescent current of the output transistors enables extremely low distortion values. One unmistakable increase in quality. Transient distortions are plus by speed mature design hardly measurable. The result of all this is an unadulterated powerful and differentiated sound. Brilliant, impulse-faithful reproduction of everyone Sound material with high performance reserves even under critical load conditions distinguish PAS power amplifiers with a robust, only 2U aluminum profile housing the PCA models an attractive appearance, be it as a "STAND ALONE" device or built into the rack. We use a fully symmetrical circuit concept for all power amplifiers. The PCA Models show no dangerous voltage surges or clicks when switching on and off Switch off. Power stages use Mosfet K1058 & J162 transistors

  16. Teacher of what language? I ask this out of curiosity, because one of my daughters is currently studying interpreting and translation, she is studying English and German and her mother tongue is French. Nice the Scorpions record 👍

  21. I was the winning bidder and they are AWESOME! Original boxes and owners manual. Note on back of Owners Manual: Delivered: Saturday April 9, 1988 by L J Johnson & Friend. These guys are in excellent condition and sound fantastic. My first Klipsch speakers - 1978 Maple Finish Heresy's, traded them in for LaScala's (Raw). Got Heresy II's - Walnut in 2016. Sold LaScala's last November. Have always wanted Klipshorn's - finally these were available in Franklin (Where I Live). Growing up in Arkansas I got to go the the factory in 1978. Still have souvenir from that trip - see picture. Thanks uteman1011 for posting!

  26. Is there a Brussels in USA? Brussels is a town in Door County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 1,136 at the 2010 census. :-)))) Brussels is also the capital of Belgium, and this is a song about the famous street in Brussels with many restaurants anc cafés (pubs). It is sung in the Brussels dialect, a peculiar Dutch dialect (not French!). Brussels comes from 'Broeksele', which simply means 'marshland'.

  37. I don't know prices but I'd suspect using dollars might not be the best metric? Example: Certainly you can spend multiple thousands on the newest fanciest (enter newest and fanciest) However, you can also spend quite a bit less for something like a HK *30 series which get rave reviews (I think it's 430, 730 and 930??) I was ready to buy one of those once on a lark....but was too late. Do some reading on them.

  40. Ah H*ll. I cleaned the stainless carafe yesterday for the first time since I got the replacement this summer. Half a dishwasher tablet broken up in the filter, then let it soak. Wash it with regular dish soap then run a full pot of hot water through it 3 or 4 times. Looks shiny and new and only tastes like what I'm brewing instead of that dark amber color of the walls inside it. Natural processed and the honey the red variations of it have me the happiest with the flavor since before Marley's company went under with their fantastic Jamaican Blue Mountain. Or the plain ol Colombian flavor that is just no more. https://www.seattlecoffeeworks.com/blog/What-on-Earth-is-Honey-Process that old page tells about the "unwashed" variants

  41. It will get my attention too. As the only other one that posts late 70s Scorpions & Def Leppard! Cool looking amp, it's not an A class is it? For that amount of power the case would have to be bigger.

  46. Technics SA-800 under the dbx 3bx Series 2. My first piece of stereo was a Technics SA-200. Back then in 1978 Technics had a very large line of receivers, nine in all, each one with a little more power and one or two more switches or knobs until you got to the top of line. The amps sounded fine until you compared it to anything else. I came across the SA-800 by chance in a friend's warehouse and it works fine as a tuner preamp for me.

  47. @henry4841 Your Sony is a beauty! This is my 1973 Marantz 1060. I bought it in 1974 and used it for several years. In the late 80s, I replaced it with a Denon integrated then later with a Rotel multi-channel system. A few years ago, I thought I might sell it since I wasn't using it. I pulled it out of storage, cleaned it up, and replaced a switch that had gone bad. The walnut case had dried out a bit over the years so I cleaned it, gave it a once over with some 0000 steel wool, then a few coats of finish oil. Other than the worn screen printing over the Power button, it looks great. So great that I decided to keep it with plans to someday re-cap it. I finally tackled the rebuild a couple of years ago with new/larger caps and replaced the output transistors at the same time. My brother-in-law has a stock 1060 of approximately the same vintage and we put them together one day so we could A/B them to see if we could really tell a difference. We could, and it was pretty amazing. The upgrade turned this already good amp into something special and I've been using it since. I don't plan to let this one go.
