  1. ... after repeated tryptophan poisonings, I think I have revived been eating like a pig.... and needing to sleep it off ==================== drinking the "regular" Mexican beans. We live pretty frugally and good coffee is an indulgence we allow ourselves. the weather people are straining hard to complain about the weather, Yeah... record and near record temps.... but 80` in Dec is really hard to whine about.

  2. Good deal Willie, mine didn't last through Sunday. Need to hone my skills and how to prepare for the unexpected now. & my little bird? It was a breast with everything else cut off. That's why it was $, and why I had good turkey sandwiches for several days. What do you do with leftover cranberry sauce??

  7. Dave, I think you made a good choice with AA, Bob Crites' AL-3 is as I said very sharp, however the speaker becomes very much like a studio monitor, if I had wanted studio monitors I would not have bought La Scala's. AL to my ears sounds more euphonic, perhaps more nasal and more colorful but creates more ambiance, more space and the timbre takes on a more "authentic" and particular character, at the moment I prefer it. These ALs the previous owner had measured and still respond perfectly, the capacitors do not necessarily need to be replaced, I think paper capacitors are long-lasting. Also let us know how are your impressions and differences between AA and AL ...

  14. Sounds like everyone is on a mission except me. Turkey coma's, cranberry sauce, & Momma's new work room? Added a new album cabinet and have been working on filling and alphabetizing all my new remaster LP's. I'm totally outta space in here. Stuff to hang but not sure how that's gonna work yet. Been looking for a small 3 shelf stand for under my butcher block so I can add another turntable and move gear onto the shelves below. Been looking for 3 years so guess I'm going to have to have one made and shell out the big bucks. Maybe 60 today here in Sherwood Forest, Leaves everywhere here in the hood so might take a ride and broom them up for everyone. Some rain tomorrow and a warmer wkend maybe. Think I'll take another break!

  17. It is similar to that old record, I like his singing George. On a blues and blues sounding kick for a while, @Dave1291 picked up a copy of this in an electric blue vinyl, I'd have too but I'm on a digital music diet some of y'all know. Ya know those de-eluxe edition postings on youtube? I've got one now and it adds a second disc to the release! Ho Ho Ho! Not finished yet but this hits the spot like nothing can except Gov't Mule!

  18. Though my Yamaha A-S1000 was bought to drive my RB-75s, I have on occasion hooked it up to my Heresy IIs and the pairing was incredible. I could bet my last dime that the A-S1200/Heresy IVs combo would be that much better. Bill

  20. If it was my money I would start there. The beauty of an efficient speaker like the H4 is that you don’t need to spend a ton to get a great sound.

  23. Is there a Brussels in USA? Brussels is a town in Door County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 1,136 at the 2010 census. :-)))) Brussels is also the capital of Belgium, and this is a song about the famous street in Brussels with many restaurants anc cafés (pubs). It is sung in the Brussels dialect, a peculiar Dutch dialect (not French!). Brussels comes from 'Broeksele', which simply means 'marshland'.

  26. maybe even the 1996 drivers are not exactly the same as in 1982, mine have the horn in cast aluminum, square magnets on the woofer and on the tweeter ... With AL-3 the mids are more present and the speaker plays "everything out ", while with AL the stage seems even further back and the rebuild is more holographic ... Why haven't I connected before? Perhaps the best thing to do is to leave these speakers as they were born, each serial number with its own crossover ... It doesn't take much to get away from the original design ..

  27. I had the chance to audition the Peach when Mark first introduced it here too many years ago. What a truly marvelous and extremely flexible line stage! My wife and I both really liked it, but were just not in the position at that time for another preamp. An outstanding component from a gifted and influential designer. And yes, RIP Dee. He was a good friend and an absolute gentleman in the truest sense of the word.

  28. And what was it about them they did not like? I believe it was more what was said here from sellers that made their decision to try another type. I've heard Crites say the autotransformer was no good and should be replaced. H'm, Klipsch engineers used an autotransformer they knew to be bad? Not much about transformer to go bad except catastrophic failure. If Klipsch engineers used a good autotransformer, which is what I believe, basically the only difference from other crossovers is the notch filters to flatten the frequency response. Anyone that can read a schematic sees the notch filters, which some believe is a positive thing, the reason Klipsch engineers added them. Bob Crites trashed the AL and this being a Klipsch forum members picked up the call for it being bad as well. All that being said I am in the camp of less is better and prefer an A or AA crossover for them being less parts and less phase shift. Like I said I was perfectly happy with my 'crappy' Al crossovers for decades and never found anything to complain about.

  30. That Yamaha 1200 would likely be fantastic with the Heresy IV. I have to tell you though, I picked up a 50wpc Audiolab 6000a Play for my Cornwall IVs and it's a fantastic pair. This amp has grunt. Though I could have saved $300 and got the non-Play version, and I would suggest you do too. The streaming sounds fantastic, but for whatever reason it uses your phone as a go-between. Plus there's a ridiculous gap between tracks. I mean like 3-5 seconds. So no gapless playback when streaming. The Audiollab 6000a Play is $1300 and the 6000a is $1000. I was prepared to spend up to $5000 on an integrated amp and it was something I thought about literally all summer. But I was recommended the 6000a Play and I'm glad I was.

  36. Please see the attached photos re serial numbers. DIRTMUDD posted photos via the link I sent him earlier (thanks so much..!!). I'm asking $500 for the bare cabinets and all the woodwork shown. $750 will get you that, plus (2) working square magnet K-55's, (2) round magnet k-77's (one needs a diaphragm), and a pair of working midrange drivers to fit the K400. I also have two spare networks (AA or AL I think, but I will confirm) for $50. So <$1000 would get you a pair of kick *** genuine Klipschorn workshop or garage speakers, and with just a little more you could dress these up with veneer and proudly have them in the house. Let me know of any questions. I can aid with delivery along the gulf coast, and can crate and ship these to ship via motor freight anywhere in the US. Thanks everyone for your interest. Greg
