  13. Here is my Solid State Setup. Luxman R-115 Receiver with a whopping 70 per channel, then the Luxman F-114 amp for surround sound, not quite as good but does the job. And the Technics DAC Preamp and Processor, with the Luxman P-102 turntable on top.

  14. If you can't find anyone or are worried about the included shipping costs I can help since it's not my day job I don't need to really make any profit on it just pay for parts and maybe a bottle pinot noir for my troubles. I have high quality lab equipment and have been designing and working on amplifiers since the 60's, I also know these amplifiers inside and out as I have worked on so many of these I can do it in my sleep. So basically your just paying for parts and shipping, I don't drink expensive wine either Another bonus is I have a bunch of premium NOS 7199 tubes if needed, I have seen many of them weak in these amplifiers that need to be replaced. I also have the beefed up printed circuit boards that installs the new power supply filter capacitors too. I probably have more parts than a working tech since I have been doing this for a very long time, I keep a ton of resistors, capacitors, tubes, transistors, IC's, etc... from NOS to new, anything under the sun you can think of I probably have it. PM me if interested, I just love working on tube gear and since I am not a back logged tech you will get it back asap. I remember the gold old days doing extensive mods to these and really making them into a real amazing amplifier.

  15. There must be bigger turn offs than overly large fake boobs, but they still rank highly in that realm. It's not just the plastic, it's the psychology behind the perceived need. It is a fact that leg men are more intelligent, and interesting that there is not much the plastic artists can do about it.

  16. Hello, I have upgraded my Chorus 2 with the A55G and the KP301 horn. I was able to find the horn on Ebay, hard to find. I initially mounted the a55g to the stock horn with an adapter, but the sound was not right. I realized that the a55g has the compression "bullet' as part of the throat of the driver itself. The stock chorus and forte mid horns incorporate the compression bullet as a plastic section of the horn throat, therefore you now have two compression bullets. ( pardon me if "bullet is not he correct term) I can say that the a55g is a huge improvement over the stock driver. Just finding the horn with the threaded interface is difficult. But the kp301 horn fits right in place and from the outside you can't tell a difference. I would not recommend the Crites crossover unless you just want to replace the original. For that purpose the Crites is fine, and can be improved with point to point wiring, replace the iron core inductors and sand cast resistors as well. I may be a benefit in the very near future as I am planning a trip to GR Research in Texas. I am taking the Chorus to them to be measured. They will then design a crossover accordingly. (I currently have the Crites installed) He will then have the specifications and possibly a kit available for purchase. He did the same with a customer that brought in a Forte 3. Huge improvement. Video of this upgrade is on Youtube, GR Research channel. I'm thinking about taking a Forte 2 as well just so he can offer a crossover kit to the public.. I have a pair bone stock.

  17. You think the vehicle manufactures can hit this goal? https://www.cnn.com/2021/12/20/politics/epa-auto-emissions-standards/index.html I'm seriously thinking of purchasing a new 2022 vehicle......Hmmmmm. I don't have to buy anything... Wow! the new standards will prevent 3.1 billion tons of planet-warming CO2 emissions from being pumped into the atmosphere, reduce US gasoline consumption by 360 billion gallons and save US consumers money at the pump. I kinda doubt the consumer will ever see a savings...

  20. When you ear tells you that it either matters or doesn't. I have my lascalas which are electrically excellent (and use passive networks) connected to the same McIntosh preamp as my Jubilees (digital processor). When I A/B them I sometimes wonder why I even own lascalas the difference is so great and they sound so smeared compared to the time aligned Jubs. Listening to just the lascalas again by themselves after a few days........hey these speakers sound darn good. Crazy hobby.

  22. Ok, I just finished my first dedicated home theater centered on a Hisence 100 L9G UST. I’m running a pair of Cornwalls up front with some KG5.5s in the rear. I guess I’m not really finished as there are more surround/atmos speakers needed. I think I need these La Scalas up front and the CWs to the rear. Am I crazy? PM sent! Frank

  23. Mornin' all I've been putting up lights for5 or 6 years.... this year, I am getting folks driving by, to look. The recluse in me is learning to be more hospitable toward them.... trying to not give the "What you looking at?" impression. There is generally no traffic down our street, unless they are coming here... waiting for a firewood delivery and hoping it shows very soon. I've buggered a nerve in my arm and rendered it useless. I can't really go out and cut w/o making it worse... Kinda restricted to light puttering. No Christmas tree, yet. Think it's gonna be an artificial this year. Wire frame with garland and lights. The tree I normally prune for cuttings to make my tree came up short this year. We got a green garland around the doorway. Bring some evergreen smell in the house.

  24. Christmas is at the door. City is decorated with ornaments and other stuff. No time to wander around with camera during the day, so here are few photos taken mostly at night with a Kodak Gold 200. Film is not the best tool but I wanted to see what can be done with old technology 😀

  28. The big ones are for playback. They are used when you bring the artist in, who wants to be pinned to the wall. The small ones are the mix-down monitors - used for the real work.

  34. Ha Ha and yes that is how I operate. Interesting comment on the La Scalas. When I get done fixing up speakers I normally listen to them for a few days. I start off thinking how puny they are to the S-MWM's but in a day or so thinking I could live with these if I had too.

  37. Half the year here at kroger I buy unsalted in the shell peanuts for a $1 per 12oz bag. Human food grade, roasted. Sometimes they have raw, but not so much this year as in the past. When they are not on sale I think it's somewhere in the $1.30 range.

  38. Yes, for Matt Whatley at Comb Over Mastering, a former Klipsch employee. I believe he worked with Artillery @Trey Cannon when he was there. He mixed and mastered this album that is absolutely stunning, and Roy has 3 track in his demo rotation. Pretty amazing on the Jubilees. Matt says they blew away what he had before, and he had some really good ones before. This is one of Roy's current test tracks, he has a specific reason for using this particular track, he would need to explain it, I sure can't, but my pour attempt at paraphasiing is that a motor needs to start quick, not doubt, but it also needs to stop quick, and he says this track below helps him check that particular aspect.

  39. Dude! You live in Florida! You’re in business. Jubilees and Klispchorns fall of the back of trucks daily down there. (Writer’s embellishment) But seriously, GOOD deals happen often in the panhandle. You have been steered entirely in the right direction by the other posters. A three-way with a 15” woofer will make you smile every time you turn it on. Any Chorus would be top on my list. I was in pretty much the same boat as you a few years back after hearing Heresys for the first time and falling hard into the Klipsch rabbit hole. I ALMOST bought a pair of KG4s to start my journey but lucky for me they sold before I could make up my mind and a pair of Forte 2s came up so I pounced on them. I called them floor-standing headphones in my ad when a short time later I had the opportunity to grab a pair of Cornwalls. The Fortes were no match for the bigger sound of the 15” woofer. And just like another poster mentioned, they were free rent. They hold their value and quickly sold for what I had into them. If something catches your eye and you aren’t sure throw it out to the forum.

  40. Here's the thing. Most people think their systems sound good, and they probably do (to the owner at least). But how would we ever upgrade if we didn't try something else? It's better to try it in your system than to rely on a demo at a dealer. If you have a local dealer who is willing to let you take stuff home, that's great. I don't have any high end stores closer than 100 miles. So I roll the dice and try things. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. But at least it's never boring in my listening room.

  41. I don't know prices but I'd suspect using dollars might not be the best metric? Example: Certainly you can spend multiple thousands on the newest fanciest (enter newest and fanciest) However, you can also spend quite a bit less for something like a HK *30 series which get rave reviews (I think it's 430, 730 and 930??) I was ready to buy one of those once on a lark....but was too late. Do some reading on them.
