  1. It’s been a minute since I’ve made pizza. maybe the next time we get some warmer weather…

  2. 1/2 pot of coffee down. Looking for something to do [besides housework]. With the wife pulling double duty, the trickle down means I get more work, too. So... it's time to crank up the music.I get to listen to the garage system, RP600M/Yamaha CR-840 on weekends. I sure enjoy the LS after listening to the little speakers. A quantum difference between. The RP's thump... but the LS are more refined Boy is "cleaning" the cottage. Looks like he moving out or he is planning on moving his GF in. I see a lot of non WAF stuff put away. He hasn't said dookie about what he is up to Had to chuckle at his cleaning efforts. He has rugs that have never been vacuumed. It's been over a year and he has dogs. Thought he could clean them with one pass of the vac.. I went to fetch our vacuum back. While I was there, I did a thorough vacuuming on half of one of the rugs... leaving a clean spot.... I can be a real donkey when I want. Among many other jobs I have had, I used to clean furniture and carpet professionally.

  3. The best thing about getting "new" speakers like these, for me, is being able to pull random things from the collection and become acquainted with them all over again. Hearing things that I haven't heard in awhile, at least, and discovering sounds on them that I'd either forgotten about, or didn't hear through plays before these extremely revealing beasts. There is no downside for me with these. I can listen to them for hours and look forward to the next record. I could not be happier. Now what am I going to play next?

  5. Here's your payback guys. It was pretty good, I fixed the too much parm with pulling more sauce out from under them. Texting and hitting the bottom of the parm jar at the same time aren't advised! At least the phone didn't get in there. Bogo got me three meals out of the first bag. So that's about $3.00 a meal with everything else included. & I'm stuffed after this. Wouldn't cut it as a thirty year old but it does now.

  6. yeah... we eat frozen pizzas, too. As you noted, it take some time to do them proper from scratch..even w/o 2 days in the fridge

  7. I like making pizza dough from scratch with slow rise yeast. Letting the dough proof in the fridge for a day or two makes the flavor really nice. The BGE can run up to around 750° which works well with a good pizza stone in it. But, we eat a lot of frozen pizzas as well.

  9. True, originally stardust. But some do chase the dust in the wind. "I have seen all the things that are done under the sun; all of them are meaningless, a chasing after the wind ... I applied myself to the understanding of wisdom, and also of madness and folly, but I learned that this, too, is a chasing after the wind ... " [Attributed to Solomon c. 940-ish BCE] And so it goes, until he gets to: "To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: · A time to be born, and a time to die ..." Etc. And, as we might say today, "Go with the Flow," and "Play it as it Lays."

  12. The entire thing is thick ceramic so it holds in the heat really well. Coupled with a thick pizza stone and preheating to over 700° it works really well as a pizza oven. it was pricey but I spend a LOT of time cooking outside during the warmer months. On the opposite end of the spectrum it can hold temp at around 225° for almost 24 hours which makes it perfect for smoking pork butts overnight without me having to wake up constantly and check on it.

  15. What a turn my life has taken. I was the timepiece specialist at a Rolex jeweler for nearly 20 years. Went to tons of training, sold some of the most expensive ($100k+) Rolexes ever made. Absolutely loved learning about watches. Owned a Submariner, two Datejusts and a Date. New management comes along and gives me double the workload with no extra pay and assigns me tasks that take me off the sales floor but keep my sales goals the same. After about 6 months of that, sayonara. Took 6 months off of work, sold our house, moved an hour away to an area with tons of lakes. Sold all my Rolexes. Started a commercial/residential cleaning company. Almost 4 years later we now have 8 employees, almost 100 regular clients and I work 10-15 hours a week.

  17. That grill TOTALLY has a coolness rating of 9.5. I've never seen one like that. I guess it would work but how long do you have to cook it before the crust is done? Is there a lid to keep the heat in? Novel idea for sure. Taste the charcoal/wood? Make dough? Yea, ok... I usually just doctor up a frozen one. Yup, I'm working nite shift more and more. Crib at 3 and up @1130. I do have my coffee though. More snow hitting to add to the 4 inches out there now. Suited up yesterday to blow the drive and my neighbor had already done it. Maybe he's getting tired of raking leaves to and wants me to drive around his yard w/the sweeper. Either way I owe him one. @JohnJDon't start w/that food yet bud. I just had a cube steak for breakfast. 😂

  19. I did just the opposite installed Crites rebuilt Chorus II crossovers into my custom KP-301-II's and it was like a veil was lifted, really cleaned up the sound immensely. The KP crossovers are designed for extreme output with added circuitry for tweeter protection and higher crossover points-- unless you're planning on sustained concert level output or starting a DJ business the Chorus crossover is plenty stout in all my years of massive abuse on my Chorus II's I only ever lost a tweeter diaphragm a couple of times.

I don't make `em, they were Celentano beef buy one get one. Made sauce with sauteed mushrooms, onion and garlic. *Yep I take shortcuts when they put it together for less $ than I can

  28. Great deal. Those drivers outperformed my big JBL's when I measured them. Also those EV drivers were used by John Pope for a PhD thesis, proving to PWK that Tractrix horn could be made shorter than exponential horn. Also Roy measured mine in the chamber in Indy and said they were very good drivers. This is a steal for anyone who wants a super low distortion sound.

  30. My brother loves the mexican street corn and say he's made a pretty close copy of it. Cauliflower, yep it has to have flavor on it, but to me it kills the other flavor. Dough is better under a pizza

  31. I like to talk about food and I watch TV Just saw an ad for products such as cauliflower crust pizza, Mexican style street corn, an acia dish, cauliflower mac-n-cheese and a VEGGIE HEMP BOWL... who woulda thought? I can't imagine eating hemp. The seed are quite tasty ... flowers and leaf have chemicals to make it unpalatable.

  32. I see it differently. EvCo built a pair of speakers (a proven model that I am sure will sound great). He spent about half of what you are suggesting. From that he will have years of enjoyment and the pride that comes from accomplishing the project himself. EvCo is to be congratulated and I hope his build will inspire others. -Tom

  38. Area 51, the A50 is basically a design that’s been floating around on the internet for decades. It has known flaws (see all the YouTube mods). I bought some 12AX7 adaptors for the A10. I have some old GE 12AX7 & RCA 7025 that I like in my Audio Research preamp. Quite honestly, I preferred the original 6N2P in the A10. I’ve since also purchased NOS Soviet Voskhod 6N2P-EV Silver Shields but haven’t tried them yet. And yes, the A12 is an A10 wired for 12AX7. I have no experience with the A20 or MT-34. Being push-pull they will probably sound more powerful and are probably a better match for most speakers and people’s preferences. The A20 propaganda “uses no big loop feedback technology” is pretty much meaningless. As usual, it all depends on how it’s implemented. Keep in mind these are all OLD designs. There’s nothing new and ground breaking here. As far as power output claims on these inexpensive Chinese SET amps – take it with a grain of salt. The actual usable power output is probably about ½ or less of what is claimed. OTOH, that translates to -3dB less SPL. Not that big of a deal. More will depend on your speaker’s sensitivity, the size & acoustics of your room, musical preferences, and of course how loud you like it.

  39. When the garage speakers were previously PASSIVE BI-AMPED with the built-in amps of my AVR, I selected the internal BI-AMP configuration on the Speaker Settings Menu, and also the 4 Ohm Speaker Setting, because the Onkyo TX-NR1007 manual simply states "If the impedance of any speaker is 4 Ohms or more but less than 6, set the minimum speaker impedance to 4 ohms." My presumption was that the 4 Ohm setting optimizes the amplifier outputs to the Low Ohm speaker load, since the owner's manual did not say anything else about that mode selection. Well, thanks to @314carpenterand @captainbeefheart I have recently learned that this 4 Ohm menu option is not the best choice, because it actually lowers the voltage supplied to the power amp, reducing the total available wattage output. The opposite of what I presumed of that option. It seems that the reason several receiver companies incorporate this optional reduced power mode is to allow the units to pass a certain Low Ohm impedance qualification test without overheating. Most Klipsch speaker owners would probably never notice the power reduction, and I never experienced a problem, but if I paid for 135 Watts, I might as well set the mode (high ohms) that provides the entire available wattage.

  40. There is a reason why the Heresy only goes to 50Hz. It was designed to be efficient, low distortion, flat response speaker. The woofer only has a 1/8” excursion. 1/16” out and 1/16” in, this leads to the low distortion that Mr. Klipsch achieved. The Heresy is voiced to what goes in comes out with no coloration. He could have ported the cabinet and threw in a long throw woofer to get deeper bass but a woofer flapping in the air would add coloration and distortion. There is some musical information below 50Hz but not a great amount. If you are a basshead and want to rattle walls and shake the floor then you need a subwoofer. If you want an honest non colored low distortion speaker then the Heresy in its stock form is what you are looking for. They we’re intended to go on the floor in a corner. Corner loading reinforces bass. That is where they really sing. Slanted riser bases were optional to lift high frequencies into the room. Any modifications to the Heresy changes the sound. It may sound different but not better. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  42. yes chorus 2 are excellent speakers, top of the chain for the quartet & forte line & as good or better than cornwalls that are the top of the non horn loaded bass models of the heritage line. $600 is a great price considering they sell for $1000+ in good shape. the crossovers arent automatically bad so listen to them before messing with replacement, if they sound good they dont "need" to be replaced. some like to upgrade the quality of the capacitors but the rest of the parts in them dont really go bad so no need to buy a expensive full replacement crossover, if you feel the need to update them you can just buy new capacitors for relatively cheap & replace them yourself if you have basic soldering skills or know someone that does. another popular upgrade is using titanium diaphrams in the tweeters. if the rear passives are damaged you can have them reconed for very decent prices from simply speakers or other speaker parts companies. i would grab them asap if they are in good shape & for that price even if teh cabinets are a little rough as they can usually be improved or even re-veneered or painted black if you like that.

  45. Morning grasshopper! Haven't been on the forum much lately. Ice and 24 degrees here getting up to 40 today. Power went out around 5:45 am preventing the auto coffee grinder to keep it's 6:00 appointment. Lit the gas stove to boil water and then the power comes back on. So one cup under the belt and headed back to the kitchen. As for the lock I guess we all need to stick to the 97 out of 100 things we can discuss and leave the other 3% for Face Book. Nuff said about that.........
