  6. It's inherently unfair that the jalapeno is measured when it isn't even ripe. I mean when they do list the green and red ones separately the ripe are three times that much! I can tell by looking at the shape of those little peppers that they are unreal hot, the shape is similar to the habanero. The pièce de résistance from my spree got here and I've enjoyed it thoroughly today. I can say I have some of these on cassette from a live on-air show long ago that are better versions..... but this as a whole was a fantastic show fifty years ago! Can Ya Dig It @MicroMara

  7. So far, absolutely amazed. This is an endgame subwoofer for me. Only one is needed, period.

  8. Those were the days. I attended a couple shows at the Kinetic Playground in Chicago around this time, in fact, the one on this poster with the Moody Blues and Charles Lloyd. Crazy thinking of Procul Harum and The Dead on the same billing.

  9. More equations for the math club. According to Osha, hearing loss begins when these thresholds are exceeded... I. Computation of Employee Noise Exposure (1) Noise dose is computed using this calculation where L is the measured A-weighted sound level. (i) When the sound level, L, is constant over the entire work shift, the noise dose, D, in percent, is given by: D=100 C/T where C is the total length of the work day, in hours, and T is the reference duration corresponding to the measured sound level, L, as given in Table G-16a or by the formula shown as a footnote to that table. (ii) When the workshift noise exposure is composed of two or more periods of noise at different levels, the total noise dose over the work day is given by: D = 100 (C(1)/T(1) + C(2)/T(2) + ... + C(n)/T(n)), where C(n) indicates the total time of exposure at a specific noise level, and T(n) indicates the reference duration for that level as given by Table G-16a. (2) The eight-hour time-weighted average sound level (TWA), in decibels, may be computed from the dose, in percent, by means of the formula: TWA = 16.61 log(10) (D/100) + 90. For an eight-hour workshift with the noise level constant over the entire shift, the TWA is equal to the measured sound level. OSHA uses a 5-dBA exchange rate, meaning the noise level doubles with each additional 5 dBA. So the inverse is also true. For a 16 hour day 85 decibels is allowable. 80 decibels is the allowable level for a 32 hour period. These are A-Weighted values also. That means what your SPL meter "hears" is not the same as what the human ear hears, and this value varies over the frequency band. See chart below... You can see how SPL is A-weighted in total value in the chart below. Wouldn't it be fun to know how to calculate the curve in the charts above? If you want to read the mathematic expression for the curves, follow along here. Scroll to the bottom half of the page. It's just too long to post here. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A-weighting So now we can measure our A-Weighted decibel levels at our listening position and apply that reading to this formula to get the maximum allowable time we can enjoy our music, at that level safely. where L is the measured A-weighted sound level and T is the time allowed

  19. I just wanted to give a shout out to Nickboy6100! Typical Hoosier hospitality second to none! He was a gracious host and knowledgeable fellow Klipsch enthusiast! Speakers are in immaculate shape and the 402 horn doesn't disappoint! I eventually decided not to purchase because they weren't going to work in my room and tube equipment. Those 8 - 15" drivers need room to breathe and lots of power to drive them. I think Nickboy6100 price is fair compared to if you tried to buy this equipment new. I think it's a great deal for someone! Those 415LF bass bins are huge! Thanks again Nickboy6100 it was a great time and chatting about all things Audio! frt8dog!

  24. @parlophone1 my Stevie Ray Vaughan with the twister on it is awful to listen to also, never bought another after that experience. Now the swirled psychedelic ones from recent years do sound really good, definitely better than most other LPs.

  25. I was backlogged 23 orders, or 46 networks once, and after I got caught up I quit for two years. It's tedious work, and add in the constant stream of email -- it can be exhausting. I'm certainly appreciative of Al and the time he took to teach me. Yes, he can be a stubborn curmudgeon, but he's rather selfless, and has offered up tons of cool stuff for this community.

  28. Possibly looking to see if anyone is interested in trading a pair of Khorns for a pair of piano black La Scalas. These were professionally painted and the caps have been upgraded on the crossovers. Still have all original caps and badges. One of a kind La Scalas that are functionally and cosmetically beautiful. Located in Central NY. Possibly may sell them but literally just entertaining offers right now unless the right number comes along. I have a pair of Khorns I have my eyes on.

  29. HERESY IV OWNERS OPINIONS AND COMMENTS NEEDED! Hello Heresy IV Owners, please, I need your opinions and comments. I have recently retired and moved into a Single Wide Trailer Home and own a pair of La Scala Speakers. The La Scala's (they sound terrific and have been recapped) occupy a great deal of room and I want to move to an Atmos Setup. Due to floor space, I am contemplating buying a pair of Heresy IV (I will also use them for 2 channel listening) and selling the La Scala's to fund the project. I have a pair of RP-500SA Atmos speakers and 3 pairs of RB-5 Speakers to complete the Atmos setup. I have heard nothing but great things about the new Heresy IV with all types of music. Will I miss the La Scala's,(even though taking up valuable floor space) and stay with a 5.1.1 System or take the plunge and buy the Heresy IV and go Atmos. THE FORUM MEMBERS OPINIONS AND COMMENTS WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED! THANK YOU ONE AND ALL!

  30. Don't rush, it was just an idea if you were actually planning to switch to KHorns. There are always good offers.

  31. If you are very happy with the LaScala's, my advice would be to get a nice subwoofer to compliment them. The new k-horn is nice, but they are going to sound entirely different than what you have setup now. And the cost to upgrade is significant. If you are not happy with the results down the road, that would be a lot of money to burn. Of course try and listen to the k-horns in a nice audio salon first and make sure they are want you need / want.

  33. See this is where the big disconnect is between me and lots of folks on this and other forums who love subs. I have never seen either of the movies referred to here, and I never will. I stopped going to movie theaters even before the pandemic because of the ridiculously big loud systems. And many other reasons. So the type of stuff I that I listen to is reflective in the type of gear that I use and love. The La Scala's provide all the bass I would ever need. Unless I wanted to replicate the lobby scene in the Matrix of course.

  35. I've been exercising the RP600M's and the [vintage] Yamaha receiver with some ZZ Top. I don't have a lot of music that begs to be cranked up. The speakers and amp performed nicely. I only pushed it to half volume... That was loud enough to rattle things. This amp generates some heat. It only got so warm and then stabilized [after I tossed some burgers on]... jk jk. Anyone remember the vibrating "electric" football games? I was watching stuff bouncing around on the [plastic] lid of my tobacco can.

  36. Hello, I always say yes to subs if done correctly. (unless it's a vinyl only system) I have RF-83's and RF-7 II's, and even though they are very capable full range speakers rated to 29hz and 30hz respectively, I always runs subs with them for several reasons. 1) When listening at reference levels, there's not an issue, but when listening quietly, our ears perceive a loss of bass volume. This is augmented by the addition of a sub to fill in the bottom end. Most of my listening now that I'm well into my 40's is at lower volume levels. 2) On the rare occasion I feel like reliving a college party or a night at a dance club, the subs remove the low end abuse that the regular speakers would normally have to shoulder. 3) I'm also a fan of multiple smaller subs rather than one large sub. This, when done right, increases the sweet spot. For example, when I ran one sub on the front wall, the bass was nicely increased at the small listening area, but obnoxiously loud when you neared a wall. With the addition of another sub on the side wall, it evened it out a bit, but I still have areas of peaks and voids. Eventually, when I retire and build a home, I will design a home theater/listening room around the swarm concept.... 4 subwoofers dispersed around the room. (This is not really a viable option for most people trying to fit it in their regular homes.) 4) Finally, refrain from going off the deep end. What I mean by this is don't be the guy that has stacks of 18" subwoofers everywhere! Not needed unless your listening area is the size of a football stadium! I just roll my eyes every time I see a picture of some dude with multiple huge subs in a room no bigger than a bedroom! At that point it's just a pissing contest. And I agree 100% with Wuzzzer... There's not a klipsch sub I've owned that didn't have amplifier issues. Klipsch makes decent speakers, but their subs are absolutely horrible because of their amplifiers they chose to use. (With one exception... my brothers RWS-15 is still going strong after 2 decades of almost daily use!)

  39. Just spinnin some Eagles stuff lately. I've been thinkin about a couple tickets to see them in Columbus in April. I saw the show last September in Phoenix and knew they were doing a complete tour this year. I'm just wondering if they're taking everything they used on the 11 stop tour they did last year. If so it's going to be an amazing show. Of course there's a back story. A fem that slips out to jam nite was telling me she'd always loved them but never saw them. She slipped over for a spin of their "Live @ the Forum" box set the other day and was singing along with their songs so Mr Nice Guy stepped up. Found an excuse to hit them again and she's totally stoked to see them. Nah nuttin goin on but she still turns heads @ 60 so I guess it'll work. hahaha No clue what's going on the table later I'm still workin on my coffee! 😂

Did y'all know he's got a release called "Turmoil & Tinfoil" that the vinyl is going for $500.00? CDs for $150.00 and up? Youtube works fine, thanks! Do Ya like Bluegrass music? Or can you just appreciate the talent it takes?

  42. the whole horn loaded sub tangent or comparing a suggested brand or type of sub to another this thread & others like it turn into would be like if a member asked for advice on buying some heresys & stated he doesnt have room, budget or need for bigger speakers. then gets a bunch of replies saying you dont want heresys because they are small & sealed etc... you need K-horns or jubilees or nothing else because they are horn loaded, heresys wont have any impact unless they are stacked to the ceiling. then people start talking about how a driver works or what the proper terminology is for a woofer vs driver etc etc. it becomes completely off topic & unrelated to what the member asked about kinda like how the OP here wanted to mentioned he was surprised & happy with what a couple of the cheapest small klipsch subs did for his cornwalls. yet after 7 pages of posts 9 out of 10 replies werent even related to his post. nothing wrong with conversation but sometimes forum threads get so far off track it becomes counter productive. stay on topic or start another thread to discuss other things. to the OP, please update this to let us know what you decided to go with for new subs... or start another thread.

  43. Went to a Magnolia today and gave a listen to some B&W 802 Diamonds, powered by a pair of 500 watt Mcintosh Monos, Mac preamp, SVS SB16 Ultra sub, a $3200 dollar power conditioner, forgot the brand name. They had Tidal and played a couple of songs I listen to regularly, one being from The Marias, Hush. The sub distorted and had to turn it down, the sound of this system on the two tracks I heard, nothing to write home about. Not selling my Epics, powered by a Crown K2 for em. 🤘 Later.

  44. LOL... I'm still alive and kicking. Little older, a few more wrinkles. I still have all my Reference 7s. I just have not been here in a VERY long time. You know, life changes, move from one place to another, divorce a long time ago, new things and hobbies. Yadee Yadaa. 😁 I still have my Harman Kardon AVR7200... Which I would like to replace actually. Get something more modern that has updated technologies in it like bluetooth, wireless etc. Want to be able to go into the receivers settings without having to use some kind of RGB output. Would be nice to be able to use an android app to modify settings... But hey... That's an entirely different post!
