  3. Time to introduce you all to the newest addition to my tribe in here. Nipper! Saw him at one of my auctioneer's sales. I'd always wanted one after seeing the one in my local record store in the early 60's. Now which one did I see? With a lil help from @Mossy bottom on HIS Nipper's story the quest began. Is it real or memorex??? I found all kinds of them but a paper mache caught my eye and I do remember they told me was very fragile and chalk. He wasn't too pricey but it's always gonna be that first bite. Not sure what he's worth but yesterday I just happened to see the same one on Paul's McGowan's desk. That would would be PS Audio's owner. NOW I'm gonna have to do some real nosin. Here he is but is he real??? Hmmmmm??? Strange how he was built. 3 sections of paper mache (head, middle and hind legs). Each section pinned together using small brass rounded nails. The nails were the studs in the collar and joined the hips to the body and then covered with chalk, which is brushed on. Thoughts? Yea, he's male. hahaha Now anything else?

  4. Decided to slip this one into the mix and it's such a nice comforting album. Typical Mark Knopfler in complete control. Great recording "Tracker" was released in 2015 as a double-vinyl and his 8th studio album.

  5. Hi mates šŸ™‚ what shall I tell you ? The modem has been blown and it wasnĀ“t so easy to get a new one quickly, than IĀ“m busy with cable contract works , beeing busy to redesign my racks to build in the new dynaco pas 4 tube pre ( the modifiyed is a killer @Full Range ) had done 8 sets of diy rca cables and some new power cords as well for my own gear / purposes. The funny thing is ....since I have finished the hardware works on the Micro Seiki TT ....there really wasnĀ“t any time to spin a single record Meanwhile IĀ“m listening digital sources with the DYNACO Tube Pre and the Marantz SS Power Stage, what a dream team ..I can tell ya....... So , it was just a quick chimĀ“in to let you know that IĀ“m a live . Once I have finished all my works IĀ“ll be here more often again.

In the latest news - we are on a statewide flood watch Well so far Iā€™m safe from flooding But just about all roads are flood affected and cut - So we are stuck at home waiting it out Tomorrow may be worse - but as long as we have electricity I can spin some records My thoughts went to drifting on a ship during this time, and this album popped into my mind Artist - Mike Oldfield Title - QE2 Album ID - https://www.discogs.com/release/355112-Mike-Oldfield-QE2

  17. Hey, so these were done at a professional auto body shop. Several layers of paint and then several layers of clear are applied. Auto body clear dries extremely hard and the speakers are as strong as the paint on your vehicle. Then They are wet sanded and buffed to the high shine. The ceramic coating was applied as an extra layer of protection. The only maintenance I have is to dust and occasionally spray on some spray wax to keep up on it. They are as protected as ever. Was not a cheap option too say the least though. But in my opinion they are like no other la Scala I have ever seen.

  24. I believe it was Speaker Builder magazine that had an article in the late 1990s about building subs in between floor joists, with the output being unobtrusive, like heating vents in the floor. I believe it used two JBL 18" drivers. A motorboard was mounted between joists, 45 degrees to the floor. The driver back was open to the basement. I saved the article, I'll look for it.

  25. We were discussing this in another thread a few months back and I believe we came to the consensus that a delay less than a few mS is not audible. Double blind tests have proven this and there was other empirical data that suggests the same thing. If you are shifting the tweeter back and forth in alignment while you are listening you can hear that due to Doppler effect but when stationary it's not typically detectable by ear.

  31. Rabbit hole? There's a rabbit hole? Seriously? Just buckle up and tighten up your helmet. You'll make it. Check out the Heritage line before you go jumping to something ya think sounds good. Marantz and Klipsch go hand in hand. Simple. Just my .02 cents.

  33. Just a note that the Women's Board for the Oakland Museum of Calif has a pair of Klipsch La Scala AL3 Floor Standing Speakers (s/n 186141) with Birch Plywood Cabinets very good condition with minor scuffing on the side of one speaker and top rear corner of one cabinet has a minor chip in the top layer. They are priced at $1400 for the sale which lasts thru April 3rd. Check out the website: Home - White Elephant Sale for specifics on sale dates and reservations. They have been tested and regularly entertain the volunteers in the warehouse. All proceeds from the White Elephant sale go to support the Oakland Museum of Calif. 34. Sub do I need? Don't care for bloated muddy thumping bass. Listen to everything 'cept rap/hiphop,pop and country. Mostly vintage rock and jazz. System is as follows/Topping PA3s/Schiit Modi 3+/Fluance RT-80/Klipsch R620f. no experience with subs and don't want to spend a lot to find out what I have is good for me. Was looking at a Monoprice 12 inch 150 watt sub. Thing is the specs say it goes to 50Hz and the 610 to 45 Hz. Does this matter? I'd appreciate any clarification. Thanks. Monoprice Sub

  35. The mid/tweeter alignment is more audible and more critcal than the woofer/mid alignment. Once you hear it locked in, why would you move it back. It was very audible and an improvement to the overall sound.

  36. What??? Did you see where @geezin' is from? The man is from West Virginia! šŸ¤£ I would wager there isn't a used Klipsch speaker, much less a used SVS within a two hour road trip of him, and I don't even know what area he's from. I'm from Parkersburg where Columbus, Ohio is a two hour trip, one way. The Khorns were a two hour trip, the La Scala's a six hour trip. RF-83 package? Fourteen hours, one way. I Love road trips. šŸ˜Ž

  44. If you are very happy with the LaScala's, my advice would be to get a nice subwoofer to compliment them. The new k-horn is nice, but they are going to sound entirely different than what you have setup now. And the cost to upgrade is significant. If you are not happy with the results down the road, that would be a lot of money to burn. Of course try and listen to the k-horns in a nice audio salon first and make sure they are want you need / want.

  47. Purchased Hunky Dory Picture disc, David Bowie To my disappointment the LP is full of pops and clicks on both sides. The quality and dynamics of the recording would actually be very good if the record was made properly. So, I have a new decoration on the wall šŸ˜Ÿ
