Mary McCaslin’s voice was pure silver. We saw her several years ago at a very small venue here. She looked frail and her voice was all but lost - still a very touching performance. We got to visit with her a bit too. As of a couple of years ago, she was confined to a wheelchair suffering from progressive supranuclear palsy, “a neurodegenerative brain condition similar to Parkinson’s disease,” and no longer able to play guitar or sing. In my humble opinion, she recorded the finest version ever of Ghost Riders in the Sky. Give this a listen.4 points

I'm reading all the replys now, but first let me thank you all for helping me out. I really appreciate this. 🙏 OK, about the wires. This is apparently a point of discussion. But then the answer is very simple. I will unravel them just to be sure. Maybe I won't hear any difference, But since this is debatable I'm going to be on the safe side. It's getting really late over here, so I will make some pictures of the filter tomorrow.2 points

I've had half a dozen or so Class A amplifiers over the years and I do think they sound great-- actually switched from my Sunfire amplifier to an Adcom 5800 for a bit as I thought it had a slight edge in sound quality but ultimately I had to let it go as the season was changing and that amp would warm my room a few degrees. Class A to me means big and back-breakingly heavy and very hot but nice sounding for sure.2 points

The 222D is about 20wpc. The EL84 is a super sweet tube. For push pull it is becoming one of my faves. I don't see a downside if you are running Klipsch...2 points

sputnik, I was playing that very LP last week. What are the odds? Have you heard The Art of Tea or Tiger in the Rain, two of Michael Franks's best LPs? Interesting fact about that image: when Gauguin arrived in Tahiti, contrary to his imagination and his paintings, the native women's clothing was not usually topless, since Christian missionaries had arrived and changed the culture decades before. Accordingly, his Tahitian paintings were composed from his imagination, not from the reality around him. "Hey, a guy can dream." is probably what he was thinking when he was creating his paintings and sending them to his art dealer in France.2 points

Mornin' all I'm trying to mentally arrange the house for those khorns.... I figure I'm gonna win 'em Why? because 1] I don't really need them. [want and need are two separate things] 2] Have no concrete way of getting them here 3] No space to set them 4] the wife won't like them2 points

I am a big box evangelist and adding you to my list of victims is a pleasure. Those four woofer bass bins are as close to horns as you can get in the Klipsch lineup. I still remember the first time I got my set of MCM-1900's right and you can never erase that sound and nothing will really satisfy you except that sound. Big Klipsch Pro gear is remarkable.2 points

My Fender acoustic guitar has been on display for 40+ years I gave up that pursuit a long time ago, and became an audiophile 🤪2 points

Got me thinkin now Mossy... Lil guitar boogie always works... Guitar Boogie is a blues rock compilation album featuring Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page together with the Allstars and members of The Rolling Stones. The album was released in the US in 1971 by RCA Records2 points

A friend of mine is a drummer in a local band, their keyboardist made their PA system arrays consisting of many small drivers. Sort of looks like a wall of sound behind them, they are in plywood badly painted in faded paint. They were hired to do the last 4th of July Party at a private Lake community beach, many people commented on the sound of the band. I don't get to see them play live very often but every time I am amazed at how well the home made PA system sounds with the array of tiny drivers. Far better than your average pro audio 2 way speakers up on stands left/right of the stage. They guy was a genius how he had it all hooked up, the imaging of the instruments and vocals along with the clarity was just perfect. Moral of the story is don't judge a book by it's cover, when I first saw the setup I half chuckled to myself before they started playing.1 point

Thx EpicKlioschFan. That's a lot of information that I can put to good use. By the way, I am satisfied with the low. The low definitely sounds better than with the Heresy 2 Just a little more round and deeper bass .. Just a little more air in the low section. The only thing I notice (and what I would like to improve) is that the sound sounds could be a bit more fresher/crisper. A little less like it comes out of a box. As I understand it now, there are multiple options. And no, unfortunately I can't solder Don't even know how to get the filter out 😏 But I have the time to sort this out thanks to this forum and your information 👍🏻1 point

No, I'm not in a hurry at all. I'm just curious if this soundstage is the typical chorus sound, and if not what I can possibly do later to make the sound a bit fresher/better. It's a bit tricky to explain how loudly I listen to music, but for a conversation you have to raise your voice a little bit. So I listen to the music at a solid level but not loud.1 point

Thanks to all, and yes, It's great that Ohm's Law applies to reactive impedance as well as resistance. Using the components from my earlier post, I plotted the following... Top graph shows current. Red is resistor, blue is capacitor, and pink is the sum of these two components. Green is the current through the inductor. Since the inductor current is equal to the sum of the parallel components, the current through the parallel components is hidden (equal). Bottom graph shows reactive impedance. Green is the impedance of the entire circuit, and red is the impedance of the parallel resistor/capacitor. I realize it's hard to see, but they closely match the figures in my earlier post. Getting back to the original question, perhaps it's up to the speaker builder to determine the quality of the shunt capacitor. Or the shunt inductor for that matter. Mike1 point

Edgar beat me to the draw. I agree with all the post Edgar has made, well described. I think Nelson Pass said it this way. The different classes are like relay runners. Class A runners take the baton and run all out without ever swapping the baton. The first A/B runner takes the baton and runs all out till he swaps the baton and then slows down when it is passed. The second runner then runs all out until he swaps the baton. In class B the first runner stops then passes the baton to the second runner who go's all out until the baton is swapped again. Deep down in me I still lean towards Class A knowing the signal stays pretty pure in the amplifier. As pure as the present designers can build them. I also like Class A designs with just the minimal amount of parts like Nelson Pass builds amplifiers. I still have one powerful A/B amplifier that sounds fantastic along with some Class D that sound really good as well. Much as what Edgar said.1 point

Dave, Its your fault I’m in this situation. Once I heard the SMWM’s, it was over for me. I think the MWM’s are the next best thing. The KPT-942 are very close.1 point

Well, this is the web, soooo....my guess is a DIY-guy saw Rebel 3 plans in a magazine or Cohen's book and put a Univ load in it (and tried to "ape" PWK's Shorthorn face/cosmetics). Entirely ready to be declared incorrect by The Historian (or anyone else), though.1 point
