  1. Hopefully, recent events will convince Americans that we need to be self-sufficient and produce everything we need domestically. Yes, prices would be higher, but I’d support that.

  3. Since I can't stand dealing with the image size limits here and I took close to 200 pictures at the Birthday Bash, I just created and shared a folder from my OneDrive. Here's the link: https://1drv.ms/u/s!AsWhvifg2JVlofBHj71k3fOtRDp_Cg?e=Gpq0Ai. Let me know if you can't access this to view the pictures.

Here's the link: https://1drv.ms/u/s!AsWhvifg2JVlofBHj71k3fOtRDp_Cg?e=Gpq0Ai. Let me know if you can't access this to view the pictures. The pictures are of: The Klipsch Museum Welcome Center taken the night I got there for the BBQ. The place has undergone vast improvement even since I was there in October. Kudos to all those who worked on the place. It was too dark for me to get any good pics outside. At the Museum Education Center before the Museum meeting and auction. The live music event at the PWK Municipal Auditorium. The Klipsch Museum main building exhibits. I took a lot here since it was my first time in there. Jubilee listening evening outside at Welcome Center. A few other miscellaneous pics. The Bash was a lot of fun. Thanks to everyone involved with organizing and delivering the event. This is going to be a yearly event so keep your calendars open in early March each year.

  8. While differences in the sounds of amplifiers tend to be very subtle, one area where those differences are occasionally very apparent is in sibilance. I have used perfectly good amplifiers to drive perfectly good loudspeakers, and found the sibilance to be so pronounced as to be painful. Mate that amp with a different speaker, or that speaker with a different amp, and the sound was fine. Some amps just don't work well with some speakers, and you can't know about it until you try.

  9. That LP’s in my collection, too, along with most of her other records and CDs I read that during one recording session, Kate was getting so (I wish I could remember the exact word the writer used) sexual/sensual/literal that the backup musicians were distinctly uncomfortable. Sometimes women can discuss things in a way that’s only comfortable for other women to hear. I think that was what was meant, rather than any words or actions you might experience in a strip club, for example. Kate’s always classy, but she can be very sensual. Not that I know her personally, of course. A long time ago (the mid-Seventies, maybe), a hi-fi shop in west-end Toronto advertised an evening of Kate Bush music videos. I went, and really enjoyed it, but was struck by the fact that the audience standing and swaying a bit seemed to be almost exclusively guys in their twenties, including me, who had left the girlfriend at home, because she had no interest in Kate’s music. They had a pair of Audio Logic speakers playing at high volume, and the fine sound (to my uneducated ears, at the time) led me to buy a pair of speakers (a different model, though) of that brand a few years later. They still sound pretty good.

  12. The 1570 retailed for $1699 new and I think the 1592 is upwards of $2200 new maybe more now since mine is almost 5 years old. Audiogon website is where I bought mine. Might give them a look.

  13. I have the RA 1570 powering CF2s. It's 120wpc and plenty of power to drive the 98db CF2s. I think the CF4s are even more efficient at 102db so that 1592 should blow the doors off the neighbors house down the street.

  14. Bird Friendly Coffee is the best. More stringent requirements than "Shade Grown" or all the other coffee monikers such as "fair trade", etc. Go to https://nationalzoo.si.edu/migratory-birds/bird-friendly. Expensive....yes, but the birds are worth it IMHO, but then I am a birding nerd in addition to being an audiophile nerd and a vinyl nerd and...well, the list is never definitive or static. Just buy the DA&N coffee and save the world at the same time! Birds are the original horn driven speakers after all.

  16. The more headroom you can give them, the better it will be. Even something like a Bryston 400W RMS amp would not go amiss. My CF3's loved it, and they will run you out of the room long before you are in any danger of overpowering them.

  19. I have re-clothed many vintage and modern speaker cabinets and you can use a hairdryer, an adjustable heat gun is better but so long as you keep the distance and speed even you can get the material tight as a drum. The make grille cloth to be fit this way with heat after it's stapled in place. If the cloth is not fastened tightly with either staples or adhesive then using heat will not help you. Start at a far distance and in good lighting, maybe 8" with a hairdryer. Hit a corner with heat, and watch very closely to see what happens after 2 seconds. If you don't see any difference move in slowly until you see a very slight shrink with about a 1 second time span of heat applied. I mean a very small amount of shrink, it adds up as you go across the entire grille, and you may need a few passes to get the desired tightness. Just make sure once you get the distance down keep a nice even pattern heating the cloth in passes. I have seen some companies barely even heat the material and the cloth looks loose and sloppy after time, a nice tight square pattern will emerge from the correct amount of tightening that ends up looking great and should be nice and rigid when finished. The heat also helps harden the cloth to a stronger material.

  27. Although using tubes for target practice can be fun I tend to try and do it with dead ones. I don't blame the Russian workers and engineers that designed the stuff I have, it's just the tyrannical government with a conquer and rule mindset that cause trouble.

  28. 1977 or so. Buying a pair of Heresy HIP for an acoustic band I was doing sound for. Demo as some pro audio store in Ann Arbor Michigan. Klipsch MCM Crown amps TASCAM mixer Open reel deck of some sort. 1812 Overture I was not much into classical music at 17 but I was floored. Klipsch sound to me is like sitting with your legs dangling over the lip of the orchestra pit. Dome tweeter speakers are like sitting in the last row of the balcony.

  29. Well today I unloaded what I got the other day. A set of KPT-456 with road gear package and covers from RAM audio years ago. A set of KP-301-2's with 115 subwoofers under them in virtually like new appearance. No I am not kidding. A mismatched set of KP-301-1's I need to work on. Opened one up today with rat fur on it I am going to pull off. Must have been re-coned as the cloth surround has no sealer on it like someone forgot to finish the job. And one of those nasty electrolytic caps I despise sitting there with a bulged end and had been hot enough to melt the plastic cover and hot melt glue. I see more of these in pro gear then anywhere but fail they do. Really happy to play with 456's again though they wont stay here long since they were spoken for before I got them. Last good two way meant for main sound and side fill with no Dolby junk. Mo bettah then 904's

  32. I've had great luck with PSVane. Beautiful work. Not sure why rectifiers are so hard. I just pay up for vntage when it comes to rectifiers. For instance the GZ34's never hold a candle to the original.

  42. Yeah, because I will describe this book as a historical, science-fictional spy novel. An extended episode of DW sans the time & space travel and a spiteful letter of twisted friendships and vengeance. Good book. I have and idea that Clire was inspired by works of Alan Po(Additional reading) becuase while reading several essays on The Fall Of The House Of Usher by him, I have noticed on the story development structufe of the charachters in general, that gave me this idea. p.s: I finished a Doomsday book recently by Connie Willis, which I recommended to read too
