  1. Hello, I found on marketplace in Farmer City, Illinois: Two KP-320, Two KP-301, Two KP-115, and lastly Four KSM-2. Also some QSC’s and other stuff. Belonged to the guys stepfather who passed away. I’d be all over it if closer (but let’s face it, the good deals are never right next door) but thought I would share. Having trouble copying the links from Facebook but will keep trying. Most are just listed as “Klipsch Speakers.”

  2. The Michell record clamp that I use (I got the “R” (REGA) model, which is made for REGA turntables with a short spindle. This was to allow the use of the thick Platter Matter mat, which leaves a reduced length of spindle exposed) is quite light, since it’s made of Delrin, a very hard plastic, not metal. I press down on it momentarily while I tighten it, so the platter bearing isn’t supporting a heavy load for all the time the clamp is on, which includes downtime, since the obvious place to store it is on the spindle. If a record weight is quite heavy, that load is on the bearing something like 24 hours a day, every day, except when records are changed or flipped. EDIT: I just weighed the Michell record clamp on my kitchen scale, and it weighs only 68 grams/2.4 ounces, so there will not be any undue wear caused on the TT’s bearing. As well, when I press down on the clamp with two fingertips before I tighten it, that load is not very high either.

  5. I asked for 274b, 350b, 437a and 417a............... pipe dream, most of them. My guess is that they will try to fill the "guitar" amp tube vacuum. 12_ _7's and a power tube of some sort, unfortunately, probably not the 350b. Anything would be welcome.

  7. I also prefer a Record Clamp, because this presses through the tightening pressure the record really absolutely evenly flat on the platter. The heavy support weights press the plates from the inside out to the edge of the plate high so that there is a gradient from the outside to the inside. Most do not consider this and worsens the entire geometry. In addition, the high weight stresses the bearings of the platter. I am still hot on a copper plate from Micro Seiki ( this one isn´t the dqx 1000 from micro-seiki, this is the older ddx 1000 , without quartz control. That´s my record clamp The Thorens weight is one of the few support weights that distribute the weight more evenly through the substructure construction, so I have this one in use also.

  8. My brother surprised me tonight. Called and then picked up some spicy food for me! So glad I have some Pepcid here. Sure you pepper-heads would recognize the seeds in the red salsa. The green is similar to the Herdez Hot Guacamole salsa except it is more hot also. No beef in the enchiladas, but I've got fresh tamales in the fridge for tomorrow along with the really good different to me guac! yep nothing but habs in the red stuff! Chunkiest guacamole I have ever had, great stuff! Have you ever had frijoles that had cocoa powder in them? yuk

  9. @MicroMara Hi George Good to hear from you. Yeah...The world is scary. Having the "neighbors" you have, I would be anxious, too. Ukrainian refugees are turning up at the border down here ... along with a few Russians seeking asylum status. I will nip a big rant before I ever start..... @JohnJ Long time since you've stopped by here. Ya doin' OK? I gather you are doing some electronic work [I didn't understand any of the terms in your last post].

  15. As much as I like flea watt amps, I could not resist adding this Cary to the fold: 60 watts triode or 120 watts ultralinear. I am glad I replaced the HVAC in that room last week. 😀

  16. Thank you! They WOULD NOT copy and paste for me, bizarre. @geoff. Pretty decent looking to part them out, but you’re right! A lot of worthwhile parts, pretty reasonable prices too.

  17. Be careful with the tube amp... I know that some require a speaker load at all times while powered on. Might check to see if that is the case for yours.

  19. For what it's worth, I went from an McIntosh MX110 and MC240 to an McIntosh C41 and MC152 (vintage tube to modern solid state). I am running Forte IIIs. I did not notice a huge difference between tube amp vs solid state amp. The differences I observed was better and tighter bass. I am not sure if its the solid state topology driving this or the increase in watts -- 55 to 200+. I came away thinking the Forte's like watts. Now, on the preamp side, I did notice a big change. I chalk this up to the much lower noise floor of the C41 compared to the MX110. Did I lose some tube magic? Yes. But, what I got back in return was sharper, clearer, mids and highs. However, at very loud volumes, it was not subtle or soft with the solid state vs the tube pre. This might be an artifact of the Forte IIIs themselves? Both the tube and solid state electronics worked very well with Forte's. Good luck on your journey -- you can't make a wrong choice.

  20. Recently Danley speakers have made an appearance here. I dig their speakers and enjoy their youtube demos. Here is one speaker box, a "Jericho" and one sub, in one big space.

  25. If you're just going to sell them I'd remove the base from the one speaker and sell the set that way, maybe offer the single base as an extra to any potential buyer. It's not too uncommon for these to sell without their bases and it really doesn't seem to effect the price too much. Where are you located? Can you post some pictures? Someone here might want to buy them good luck!

  26. Yup, same here, the new silicone mat grips the LP. I don't use a clamp on either table, the UTurn has an optional, solid acrylic platter, and the Rega has a solid GLASS platter of substantial weight. The Groove Tracer subplatter on the P6 is fully jewel bearing equipped, and I would rather not add any more weight upon those bearings then that, that is already upon them. I am thinking that a second purchase of a silicone mat may be all I need for the Rega. I will be giving my results from the Orbit vs. Rega TEST later this week, so stand by for that. Realize, that spending LOTS more money doesn't always yield better results!! Wait for it...........................................

  28. Hey new poster here. I acquired two pair of heresy speakers from my wife’s uncle this past weekend. I am trying to figure out what series they are. I believe if reading the serial number correct they were made in 1983. Any help appreciated!

  31. I'm getting by, just bummed about my lack of mobility and housing far far away from here (HOPEFULLY) That surge here first week of December must have gotten through the surge protector that was old. I had to get a new UPS then. I know that some of my pc crashes were due to youtube getting mad about third party cookie blocking system wide on my part. When my Eset firewall gets turned off... that's win11 according to the logs. But .5w voltage variances when I setup a couple programs to run in the admin acct just watching showed the E to the memory and the 12v rail just not good from my time being an oc maniac back in the athlon days of win xp. Going with Kerio if I create a business entity maybe. They have a version under $40 yearly now, I have my credentials from my lifetime license that expired when they went for Business only after xp. If not maybe Tinywall or WFN and any of several cloud or signature anti-malware programs. maybe there is something out there that win11 can't defeat! My best setup ever was Kerio firewall with Eset v 2.xx and XP x64 with an Opteron and Thermalright copper on it! Distros are an alternative but I don't like Thunderbird mail or Firefox for a browser. Have to find one that recognizes .pngs and .jpegs.

  36. Hi, I have just recaptured my 1996 Cary SLI50, the chemical capacitors are about 27 years old (1995 marking) so it was time to change them: 1 x 2200µF 25v, 2 x 47µF 350V and 2 x 1200µF 450v. For the little ones I bought here in France some 105°C and for the big ones I bought from Mouser at your place in the suburbs of Dallas some superb VISHAY BC blue, to replace the old NIPPON CHEMI CON. The amp now works wonderfully, the sound is more defined, when turned on, after 3 minutes of heating, the 5U4G/5C3S rectifiers are less stressed. Room for photos
