  1. @MicroMara ya can't go wrong w/Bowie. Ya just can't. I've prolly seen all of his US shows or close to all and he never ceased to amaze me. Was backstage waaay early once and heard a roar circling the venue. Here he comes in sweats w/a towel wrapped around his throat down the hall giddy as heck. Someone asked where he'd been and he said he went for a run around the place a coupe times. Then we knew what happened w/the crowd noise. On stage he was just magical. He just flipped the switch and was into his groove. The "Blackstar" lp & video that released 2 days before his death? That lp just guts me every time I play it. Thanks for that old stuff!

  12. It is a rarity that such audiophile productions were produced on the Mercury ( Phonogram ) label as early as 1974. This album is one of the most perfect productions of its time. 10 CC with "The original Soundtrack". God this is beautiful .........

  13. Stanley Clarke & George Duke Project II , got Project I from them as well and I think Project I is the better, uncommercial production. However ..still good enough for the burn in. After 4 hours .......getting the first " WOW Effects " here and a real fat smile in my face

  20. George M. Duke (January 12, 1946 – August 5, 2013) was an American keyboardist, composer, singer-songwriter and record producer. He worked with numerous artists as arranger, music director, writer and co-writer, record producer and as a professor of music. He first made a name for himself with the album The Jean-Luc Ponty Experience with the George Duke Trio. He was known primarily for 32 solo albums, of which A Brazilian Love Affair from 1979 was his most popular, as well as for his collaborations with other musicians, particularly Frank Zappa.

  22. John, I'm clueless but "they" said it was gonna be the bomb and I kinda want to see. Maybe the first batch of something is good. Just an Ohio farmer who likes to make his whiskey and started a business. Think he's released other stuff under that name but this "Hog Batch" is supposed to be their best yet. Clueless. Ya never know if it's gonna be worth more. Then ya open it and 5 years later it's worth mega bucks. hahaha George, I'm just playin a bit until they blossom then we'll see how they sound. BTW, I'm NOT going to "think of you" while I'm sipping. hahahaha I might chuckle a bit now... Just cause of the Marvin Gaye and Copeland. Anymore, here in the US ya say "think of me," ya just never know what kind of fallout to expect. hahaha 😂 😂

  24. George, I'm here... I'm about to become your biggest nightmare... Get OUT of my d($# head! I FINALLY went to bed @5:15AM after burning through about 25 David Bowie albums last night! So I slip in to get caught up and Shazam YOU DID IT AGAIN! Marvin Gaye and a few others come to mind! GRRRRR!!! Tell ya what I'm gonna do just for you. I got a box today and was surprised to see my KT-88's. Soooo, Imma gonna change them out and give 'em a listen. Gonna pop that new release of his on just for you. Lil more punch but I wanna compare things a bit before I lay out the big bucks for a PrimaLuna top of the food chain amp. The "Whistle Pig Farmstock Whiskey?" I actually drove 100 miles to get is their First Batch sold only in Ohio for now. Their "Home-Field Hog Batch" is 86% Proof and 43% Alcohol label says. Now I'm not a whiskey drinkin kinda guy since I drink Scotch. This could be interesting. They say it's great but I dunno. Might just stay on the scotch. Safer that way! Either way I'm blaming you. Marvin Gaye... Yup, that's it! Now time to get to work! So there's that... Now I see your post and it's Stewart Copeland? Quit it man, just quit! 😂 😂 😎

  27. Then these I'd recorded... it was the 80s That's not the famous version above. Circus Animals was a good release by them. The bike club/ pool hall played all this kind of stuff, some 80s stuff gets better when you haven't heard it in a while.

  30. Then these guys played every place for a hundred miles around in about 1980 where I'm from. Leans towards pop but pretty decent for a home turf band. Freakin' great by today's radio standards!

  31. Thanks, there's a few good Peter Gabriel live versions of that one above, saw an interesting interpretation of the basis of the lyrics online. This was pool-hall and background party music also.. but three to me are turner uppers. The title track, Shanghaied and Tired of Wearing Black.

  34. The newer Khorns mentioned are pretty much out of my price range, and messing around with mods like fake corners is more then I want to pursue unless it's a deal too good to pass up. And even then, they would have to be pretty dang outstanding to better what I already get from my LS's, which, BTW, I and wife love the way they look and they seem made for my room .

  37. Im offering them here first. Hate to let these go, but I'm running out of space. For Sale: Walnut Quartet. They are pretty much blemish free and have a high WAF. The grills have no damage. All new Dayton Audio Grade capacitors. $$$ and as usual, I'm willing to do a trade / partial trade. I am looking for a nice SS amp, even if the money trade goes out rather than in. Lexington KY area. I'll try to post more and better pictures later. Please PM me with any offers or questions.

  45. It wouldn't be me if I wasn't playing my favorites from the 70s. Not the best by this band, but @Mossy bottom covered that already with vinyl. This is one that just blurred into the background often back then when we were pushing our limits back then.

  46. Mornin' all I see some of the US got an April Fool's Day snow... we're basking... Y'all know I watch tv... Last night on Wheel of fortune... last puzzle. The contestant won a car... she jumped in the car and the camera pans across it.... Looked like bird droppings or paint spatters all over the thing... and the side mirror was scraped all to... it got crashed before it went on stage...

  47. Like all Carver products. First class. That's a lot of good, affordable watts at 25 cents a watt, with no tax and free shipping, unlike Ebay now that charges tax on used stuff. This totally pisses me off as a buyer. More government over reach since they can't manage money worth shit since they went off the Gold standard during the Nixon era! Sorry about the mini rant.
