  2. Just hangin... Outside Inside is the sixth studio album by The Tubes, released in 1983. It was the second album by the group to be released by Capitol Records. The album was produced by David Foster. The Tubes had their biggest radio hit with the single from this album, "She's a Beauty". Nice catch Fee! You're not foolin me I KNOW where that eye went! Just one of his dancin girls from 3 stacks up. 😂

  4. After a show once in Cleveland one of the guys disappeared for 3 days. Not a word to anyone for 3 days. EVERYone was freaking out totally. His parents were ready to call the cops. He finally surfaced and said he wound up in a car full of women from Pittsburgh. Had no idea how he got IN the car but had a great time. 😂 Took a bus back to Cleveland. We didn't even ask.

  8. The Tubes are one of the most brilliant bands ever! I've seen them play live 4 times, in venues from clubs to a convention centre to Maple Leaf Gardens, supported by Rough Trade, which was one of the best team-ups ever. White Punks On Dope is one of only 3 tunes recognizable by its first 4 notes (ba-Domp-a-Domp). The other 2 are Beethoven's 5th and the theme from Dragnet. I hope they someday do a tour that brings them to my town. While The Tubes are great on vinyl, they're a really visual act. Here's just one version of White Punks On Dope. It's pretty majestic.

  9. Congrats on the amp. I agree with you about open concept rooms. They are the absolute worst for audio. Some will argue with you about that, but only because they haven’t heard their system in a good room before.

  10. Lawd stop me! 😂 Heartbreaker is the sixth and final studio album by the English rock band Free, that provided them with one of their most successful singles, "Wishing Well". It was recorded in late 1972 after bassist Andy Fraser had left the band and while guitarist Paul Kossoff was ailing from an addiction to Mandrax (Quaalude). The album was, by Free's standards, a huge success. It became their third top-ten album in the UK (reaching #9), and reached No. 47 in America, which was also a considerable success for the band. Also, the single release "Wishing Well" became their third-most successful single, reaching No. 7. It is widely regarded as one of their definitive songs. Soooo sick of Paul Rodger's this and that but here's the thing. How many of those Paul Rodger's fans know his roots? My buddies one of them. Threw some on the other night and he said, "that sounds like Paul Rodgers." 😂 😂 Pulled this one up of him with Queen. Shall we say sufficiently nailed? Carry on!

  14. Imaging is very important for me and horns can have excellent imaging if setup properly. I remember comparing three very well setup systems using Klipschorns, JBL250ti and Quad 63 (USA) and while all had excellent imaging the Klipschorn system setup had the best sense of life size scale imaging and dynamics IMHO. Here was an experiment for imaging I ran comparing the KEF LS50 (near field listening setup) versus the Underground Jubilee setup. Both systems gave very similar results in all aspects of imaging and was so close that I believe most people who think small near field setups can’t give life size imaging or that horn systems can’t image with depth or instrumental/vocal specificity would be shocked. miketn

  19. This post is nothing more than for me to say how much I love my CW IV and gear. Here is how this week went: 1. Was looking to sell my speakers, (I am moving at some point and just figured why not). 2. I repositioned my speakers in my listening room, (completely rearranged it, sold my love seat, put a recliner arm chair instead, I wanted perfect sound just for me). 3. I was playing a song with a lot of bass, (Come Together from Brian Bromberg, I don't dig it but someone posted a video with it playing and I wanted to compare). 4. I noticed some rattling noises as I cranked it, something made me buy those rubber/cork vibration pads and OMG!!! One of the greatest purchases of all time for me, completely changed the sound for the better, smoooooooth and the lows are so silky from the CW IV, glorious. 5. I ordered a pair of SVS 3000 subwoofers, in messing with that I noticed my Preamp RCA out was broken, that same day my miniDSP SHD arrived FULL I/O. 6. Send my Preamp for repair, and installed the mini, also got Ethernet lines ran to my music room, hooked everything up, it was meh with the subs. 7. While they were installing the Ethernet I put the vibration pads under the subwoofer....OMFG!! What glorious BASS down to 10hz. 8. My second sub had been delayed, I hooked it up in Stereo, everything with vibration pads, used Dirac Live to tune the system. Measure the results with REW before playing any music, Dirac almost flattened out my response from 10hz to 16hz with a light drop off, COOOOL. 9. Grabbed a beer, reclined and put some tracks on, HEAVEN! I highly recommend miniDSP SHD FULL I/O, it is a game changer. The sound is incredible, the imagine, the clarity, the bass it is all PERFECT to me. It is hard to believe it could ever get better then this for me, maybe with some LaScala IDK but CW IV are AMAZING! I am a Klipsch fanboy for life and I am in love with my speakers. The music was sooo good I was literally falling in actual love with the speakers. So silky, so smooth and so clear, with just the most amazing soundstage. I hope everyone else finds this same glory for yourself one day, for me the game changer was the vibration pads, I highly recommend them, idk if they will work on carper and other things, but if your on a hard floor and want to unleash your speakers get them!! If anyone else tries it, I would love to hear about your results, its not just in my head, it worked 100%, the bass changed, became smooth and precise and musical. Anyways, going to go grab another cold one and cranking this system, I feel so fortunate. Metal sounds amazing, Cello, Pop, EDM everything!! (To think I was soo close to selling my CW IV, lmao)

  20. I'd recommend anything you can find at accessories4less.com if you want something new and don't want a tube amp. There's lots of good options.

  21. Are you thinking about a tube or solid state amp?

  22. In audio pre amps to power amps or any line level output to input for that matter we are trying to get maximum voltage transfer. This means the lower the driving impedance and the higher the load impedance the better. There are practical limits of course in real world devices.

  23. Aright you all hold the place down. I've got 4 bags of the cheap "garden soil w/fert" calling my name. 3 flats of yes, pansies have been calling my name for a month but the weather has sucked. Today's the day to nail it. Rains coming in for the weekend so shove 'em in a wittle hole, give em a lil drink of water w/some fertilizer in it and sit back. Why pansies? Every year I troll the hood trying to find the "right" flower to plant. This year when I picked up my grass seed I made a stop at a greenhouse. It was the only thing they had out but I snagged them even though everyone will think I'm a pansy! I just have NO idea what to put in that big planter. Well, I do but I'd prolly wind up in jail here in Ohio. 😂 Then we have the flag to change out but I've NEVER seen as many knots in a wad of rope in my life! Can't wait for that. It's gonna be ugly! 😆

  24. Yes, I am starting to realize that a road trip may be needed! Not a bad thing though! I really appreciate everyone’s advice! I had never posted on a forum, this was the first time, but everyone was so helpful! It can be difficult purchasing things secondhand, especially not knowing exactly what to look for, so having a community to run these things by is extremely valuable!

  26. @Dave1291 Thank you! That is a great point! Sometimes it is hard to remain objective when making a purchase, especially when options are limited, but you are right! They DO surface, I just need to keep an eye out! Unfortunately, at the moment, I can’t seem to find very many for sale in Utah, but something will come up!

  30. I have to disagree. My Klipsch speakers image beautifully. Wide soundstage with depth and nice focus on placement of individual instruments and vocal. Primarily all the sound is behind the speakers. The funny thing is I used Paul McGowan’s book to set up the speakers for my system.

  32. Sure she's not the one from when their company started. If you ever see her or him again tell them their sausage is the only brand that I'll eat forever. Sorry Jimmy Dean I have tried yours, and you can't compete! Grew up with Neeses in CLT. They have a "satellite building" on N 28th St just N of downtown. When in FL I'd come back 600mi buy the dry ice on 28th near their place take that and my excellent Spoon's BBQ about five lbs of each back down. Had a good deep freeze so it wasn't a problem as far a pork being frozen. Now I'm doing it again, bought five lbs a couple weeks ago when in the city.

  33. Yes, I am not an expert but have been dabbling with measurements and reading alot over the past year or so. My take is it is the what I call room gain. Calling it room mode excited could be the same thing said differently not 100% sure. My Cornwall are in corners but away from the walls about 6" on the back and 15" on the side, when I put the pads underneath, I instantly heard not only deeper bass but also smoothness throughout, I believe the smoothness comes from less distortion, (from the cabinet rattling on the tile, exagerated because I never actually heard any rattling except at extreme volumes), why it all of a sudden extended the low end I am not 100% sure about, my guess is the pads eliminated most of cabinet resonance that was sucking energy from the woofer. Just to be clear too I have always loved the CW IV and its just I took them to a new level so that got me excited and drinking beer and posting hehe. I was selling them because I will nees to move this year at some point and figured I did not want to lug them around but now I will gladly and they will always be with me.
