  1. Sounds like a marriage made in heaven. We could just ship it around to each other for a week or two just to see what it sounds like. Sharing is caring! As if.

  2. my grandmother had a tt with two tone arms....One for 78's and the other 33 1/3... they were fashioned to look like snakes. You pushed a button on top of the cabinet, a door opened and the tt rose up/out. This same record player had a radio... not just AM/FM [I think it was FM?]... it got shortwave. No idea of the age. At least 60 years old, now... I believe it was an RCA. With Cobra arms?

  3. I had recently acquired an RC-7 center speaker with the plan to use it in place of the soundbar in our main floor living room that's primarily used by my wife. I knew it was a big speaker and I should have measured where it was going to go because after I got it I knew it wasn't going to work. So, I put it up for sale on Facebook and Craigslist. Got an email through Craigslist a few days later from a gentleman who said he'd buy it. He lives a little over an hour from me. He stopped by the next day and I had it set up and when he first saw it his eyes lit up and he had a huge smile. I had no point of reference as to his age but I was surprised to see he was probably in his 70s. We chatted a bit and he told me that he's always wanted a really nice Klipsch home theater. Then he said he's terminally ill and recently moved into a home his brother owns because he's letting him live there for free since he can't work. I was surprised how positive he was despite his situation. As we talked more he mentioned that he has a nephew who likes Klipsch as well and said "my nephew is going to end up with a really nice setup." It made me happy that through this hobby I was able to help the gentleman with his lifelong dream.

  5. Won this in an auction yesterday ($42). I needed something to test speakers in my garage work area. I've got the KR-3090 as well. Great little receivers!

  6. I had to cut down a couple of trees today on our driveway to the house. Too much dead wood of birches and pines as well as their trunks were already partly uprooted from the soil by the strong winds and the many rains of the last days. It was only a matter of days or weeks until these trees would then lie on our driveway. I´am quite exhausted from this work and have pretty bad back pain.I think I was cutting the wrong branch

  7. I would guess older. It was a combo radio/record player in an end table size cabinet. Not near as sophistcated as what you pictured. I do remember one tone arm being black and the other, green. Plastic ar bakelite snake replica arms. I just searched Google image says it's '50's vintage Zenith

  9. That Audio-Technica AT150MLX was probably the best MM cartridge ever made. Like the open, transparent rich flat sound ATs have for the $. Got one for my first tt with the new build and that tt didn't have the vta adjustment. Out the door they went! While it was still available the ~ $250 cart was going for over $700! Sure that ProJect made some more modern refinements to that tri-table, know they did with their interpretation of the Linn that I got.

  11. Resurrection as Pro-Ject Micro Seiki Incognito, introduced at the German High End Exhibition in Munich. May 22nd. 2022 At the Pro-Ject booth, several editors caught the eye of a new product that was strikingly reminiscent of an old one. Apparently, the legendary Micro Seiki DQX 1000 is celebrating a kind of resurrection as a Pro-Ject, which is great news per se for lovers of such a design classic. The device will be available with either direct or belt drive and, of course, multiple tonearms can be mounted simultaneously. Prices are not yet fixed. nothing can replace the origin dqx 1000

  12. You all know that I am an audioholic and vinyl nerd. Oh what can I say... again something ran over the way I couldn´t resist. I bought myself an ADC MK IV MI pickup. I simply couldn´t help myself. This is so rare and is supposed to be one of the best moving iron ever made. This system was made only by request privately by Peter Prichtard after 1985 in his retirement. For this he used selected XLM bodies from his fund. The needle was provided with the naked Pathemax diamond of his Sonus systems. It was never officially available for purchase and was only given to select collectors. Sonically, it combines the outstanding spaciousness of the XLM Series with the fantastic resolution of a Sonus Series, providing a wonderful conclusion to his work that the XLM unfortunately never experienced during its official build. Like the ADC 25 absolutely unrivaled. Pics will follow ...expect to get it till end of this week.

  15. I finally got to listen to a few tracks on them. I think they are a wonderful speaker with the mods done. The bass is not to over bearing but punchy enough for me. Highs are smooth and almost silk feel. I will get some more hrs in tonight and enjoy them. Good call by everyone to get them.

  18. Chris Rea was actually a very good lead guitarist A lot of his solos were muted down so much in the mixing process that they almost disappeared

  22. I don't know if it's a myth or not, but consuming this beverage while listening always helps my speakers/music sound better 100% of the time! (And it's a lot cheaper than interconnects that cost a mortgage payment, wooden pucks that keep your "perfectly insulated cables" off the floor, gimmicky tube connectors, etc) Plus, the more I consume, the better I can sing and dance.... coincidence?

  29. You'll find that many of those early stereo recordings don't mix down to mono well at all, because some of the stereo content was out-of-phase.

  34. You have my favorite pro heresy in the kp-201ii's, hold on to them as the rarely come up for sale and for good reason. ANYTHING will be an improvement over the fart boxes AKA KP-115's. The driver in the KPT-484 is an 18" K-49. The K-49 is a 4 ohm, 400 watt woofer and was used by Klipsch in the KPT-484, the KP-480, and the KP-4000. I have the KP-480's that I use with my split lascala's and they sound great to me. I would give those 484's a shot. Again another speaker that rarely comes up. Put some high current through those 484's something like a Crown K2. As far as crossovers go you can always get a minidsp for 100 bucks until you get something better down the road.

  35. I am making stands for all three pairs of speakers, simple ones for the Klispch, a little more complicated for the JBL's with slant risers. Even that takes a lot of time. Designing, cutting out, laminating the ends, three coats of Deft, sanding... Takes my whole day up.

  37. Back home, but did not miss much it looked like the forum was down most of the time I was gone. Not sure what it was but almost any procedure is no fun. Riding with the wife in the am to the dentist, in case I have to drive home.

  38. The problem I would have with that is once I wake up I would have to stand up, being old and not being so bendy plus 6'3" from the floor to upright is no fun. But I can sleep anywhere and fall asleep fast. Oh just remembered, my poster came in today, one day I will get around to framing it. .

  39. Almost a Buick, I tend to overbuild things. I have thought more than once lift with legs not back, being old slows everything down. It's been hot and I have to go inside to cool off a few times a day and by the end of the day I am worn out. I have said that many times, very pretty but I do not care to live there and have to deal with all the crazyness. My favorite animal.......to eat.

  40. For something different Next project, well already spent a few days cleaning them up. It will be to make a second level inside in the back for storage of things not used often,. 8' from the back wall and 20' wide x 8 feet tall at the lowest part. 6" I beams, I collected a bunch of metal over the years and now have a use for it, these are free, wood is not as strong and expensive right now.
