  4. Tried a new wood the other day and thought the result was interesting enough to post on. The chunk of Ebony came covered in wax so it was hard to really see what the wood looked like. Anyway here it is with a rubdown of Watco Rejuvenating oil on it. I am kind of leaning towards using wipe on Polyurethane from now on because it brings the beauty of wood out more without making it as dark as the Watco oil seems to.

  6. WELL.......WE DID IT!!!! AND BOY TO THEY SOUND AMAZING!!! (Even Wife Approved) Here are a couple of the shots of the speakers and their new home (as well as a lucky penny in the bass bin) But now I am going to need some real help! 1. The survived the trip and were monsters to move, everything is working well, tested using the passive crossovers and a Yamaha amp (ROOM FILLED WITH SOUND at 0DB on receiver and mixer not even close to max using standard aux out from laptop to mixer to AV receiver). 2.BUT......Now for the tune in as we will be revealing them to the public for the first time on 7/23/2022 for a disco night. 3. Are there any good guides or could anyone help me program the xilica as I have no experience with it. 4. I am not a pro audio guy so please help...to confirm wiring it is - DJ Decks -> Mixer -> Xilica -> Amps -> Speakers anything I am missing? ANYTHING I SHOULD KNOW TO ENSURE WE DO NOT HAVE ANY BLOWN EQUIPMENT?!? 5. I also picked up a Morrison ELAD Pre-Amp the seller had, is there a use for it in this setup or is anyone interested in it. THANK YOU SO MUCH AGAIN FOR ALL OF YOUR HELP!

  7. This ever happen to y'all. Did to me a couple of times, weeknights weren't always good. But then how'd ya understand those lyrics Well, I knocked down on your door, baby To see if you were at home The shade was down, there wasn't even a sound But somethin' told me you weren't alone What in the world can a nasty dog do But try to get next to you? Mmm, well, don't laugh 'cause it ain't funny Look how it happened to me It could happen to you, and you could be a fool too And it'd leave you in misery I guess there's nothin' more a funky king can do But try to get next to you

  8. Hey @Flevoman, Quartet owner here from the Hague. I'm curious to know how your Chorus 1 journey ended. Do you still have them? If so, how do you like them? I've upgraded my Quartets with Bob Crites crossovers and for me it was really a big difference. Much clearer sound.

  10. When I bought the cd last year, it came with/in a printed, black, plastic bag. It is supposed to be 'special' like that. Wonder if the new LP is also like that....

  11. Glad to hear the house passed the inspection. She's prolly ready to go again. Give her a couple days off to settle in again and you'll be right back to abby-nomal. Skunks are skunks. Guy here took the scent bags out of one once long ago. Don't know if it was alive when he did it but it killed a bunch of us watching when one of the bags broke.

  13. In order to not reinvent a thread perhaps I’ll resurrect this one. I’ve recently acquired a Carver M-1.0t. It is pinch hitting for a Sunfire Cinema Grand Signature, which has malfunctioned and is on Flannery’s repair wait list. Safe to say, that I like Carver stuff, at least most of what I’ve heard Does anyone else have an opinion on this amp powering La Scalas? Given it’s legendary status, I’m just not as impressed with it as I’d expected to be. It doesn’t seem to have the full, rich sound that I’ve had with the Sunfire. It seems a bit “thin”, if that’s a real thing. Don’t get me wrong it will get stupid loud with no effort. I don’t think I’ve seen it hit even 30 Watts, and that’s about when I start to run out of room. Plenty of amp & speaker left, but the room itself can’t handle the volume (13’x20’) I suppose it could be out of spec, but it’s dead quiet with no hums, pops, or clicks. I’ll also say that it may be sounding better after a few days, maybe I’m just getting used to it?

  16. @Islander I've seen those wireless doorbells but this isn't my place. I'm not spending a dime of mine on his place because he's been particularly heinous towards me the past year. Maybe I could write a mini-series now! Got another ship yet to dock and I'm outta here TX maybe but it's HOT!

  18. Ahhhhhh back to reality! A lil ELP change up! Much better! Tarkus is the second studio album by English progressive rock band Emerson, Lake & Palmer, released in June 1971 on Island Records. Following their 1970 European tour, the group returned to Advision Studios in London, in January 1971, to prepare material for a follow-up. Side one has the seven-part "Tarkus", with a collection of shorter tracks on side two. Tarkus went to number one in the UK Albums Chart, peaked at number 9 in the US, and reached number 12 in Canada on two occasions totalling 4 weeks.

  19. Just hangin out! Middle Man is an album by Boz Scaggs that was released by Columbia Records in 1980. Scaggs hired members of the band Toto as session musicians and shared songwriting credits with them, returning to the commercial, soul-influenced rock of Silk Degrees (1976). The album reached No. 8 in the Billboard 200 album chart, and two singles reached the Billboard Hot 100: "Breakdown Dead Ahead" at No. 15 and "Jojo" at No. 17.[2] Nope, Boz didn't last too long... 😂

  27. that's a typical rain here. Long enough to wet things and cool it down... Been warm. I find myself awake at 3AM and napping around 9AM. Had the door open yesterday/night.... a skunk walked in. A little [very gentle] discouragement turned it around. As far as critters go, skunks are OK. Pretty mellow little things...I spose if I had a nuke in my pocket, I would be too. The house passed inspection.... and then wife unpacked.. so it didn't matter.

  31. I am the driver of an underground train Chaos in the streets above, to me it's all the same I shake your houses, then I'm gone keeping time down here below I could drive my train to hell, not a soul would know I am the driver of an underground train Just imagine who I am and breathe the letters of my name Any time you say the word my wheels and humming on the line We'll be meeting face to face, we'll be meeting face to face, somewhere beyond the danger sign I am the driver of an underground train The lonely life can't bother me, far away from wind and pain I come upon the station lights with a mighty rushing sound Listen for the hiss of brakes in tunnels underneath your town I am the driver of an underground train Climb aboard, just climb aboard, your loss is my eternal gain Squeeze your precious body in before I quickly close the doors Come riding in the smoky dark, where you are mine, and I am yours.

  39. I live in an apartment and sometimes don’t hear someone knocking on the door, especially if they knock softly and I have music playing. The simple solution was to buy a wireless doorbell. It’s in two parts: the transmitter and the receiver. The transmitter is a little white plastic box with the doorbell button on it that you attach to your door, or somewhere very close, so that everybody will notice it. It has a little battery in it that lasts for years. The receiver is a larger white plastic box that you plug into any convenient AC socket, near the door or near where you spend most of your time. When the doorbell button is pressed, you hear a two-tone doorbell sound from the receiver/doorbell unit. It’s that simple. I got it from Home Depot years ago, and it’s been working just fine ever since. Some people still knock instead of ringing, but it would be easy to put a little card saying RING near the button.

  40. How's everyone? I am going to say, it has been hot. 106` here, yesterday. Was in and out of the shower and sprinkler all day. Saw something a little different today. The Air Force is practicing. ...a 727/737 tanker [I assume] and an entourage of A-10s. We see a C-130 and 5 or 6 large helicopters more often. That is pretty cool. They put the C-130 at hilltop level. Yes... there is a minimum altitude...the ground
