  2. Picked them up a few hours ago. I have been listening to them at my house for about an hour or so and they sound great so far. I have them hooked to my Marantz SR8015 using pure direct. Neil Young playing on cd and he sounds as he should. I am happy so far. I will play a variety of genre's and give an update but initial reaction is very positive.

  3. So, you have options...your speakers. Would listen to them for abit before deciding on crossover refresh.

  4. @Fido That picture is from the fall of `96 he was about three months old then. Thanks for the thought but he left in `04, long ago. He acted like a pup until the week that he passed. That was a problem sometimes being the 125 lb runt of that litter. *Did find another of the pictures I'd scanned onto the pc last decade it was several years later. Great & obedient 3/4 rott 1/4 pitbull dog! The boy there is the one that he let ride on his back a couple times. Me to the right. Sure I've put it up before, but thinking about Apollo made me find this.

  5. I recently purchased my second set of Khorns from a vintage audio collector. As part of the deal, I agreed to his asking price (which I felt was reasonable for this mint Khorn set) if we could do an A/B comparison of the Khorns being driven by my Carver M4.0t and M1.0t, and his absolutely pristine McIntosh 240's, 270's and Marantz Model 2 and 7's. I have never seen this type of gear in person, let alone all in one place! All of these are fairly rare tube amps which I estimate range in cost from about $5 to $15K each. The preamp used was his vintage tube Marantz Stereo Console, I don't remember the model (gold face plate). To make a long story short, neither he nor I could really hear any difference ... and perhaps any exceptionally minor difference that could be heard didn't indicate one was better sounding than another. It's all personal preference. It was generous of him to agree to put his uber expensive gear to the test against my run of the mill consumer grade amp (although he may have been hoping for another sale). I will keep my amps and my inexpensive but good quality wire too

  6. Yeah they look great inside. Got any more photos? I always advocate barring damaged goods listening for awhile before changing anything. Just my opinion.

  8. I have Chorus 1 and find them bright with some songs if turned up, but very very good at “reasonable” levels. Very accurate. They are on the keep list. I’m curious about the mid horn on the 2, but hate the rear passive. Placement issue for my space(s). I’ve had KG4 and Quartet and the environmental issues were horrible.

  9. Unless the OP has some C2s waiting in the wing, for a better deal, would go with the C1s. And exactly that on the price thing. Again, awesome speakers, but can't make the deal for them. Only by going and looking, listen ending can price paid be made to buyer's satisfaction.

  10. @SonicSeeker, if the price is right go get ‘em. You will always wonder “what if” if you don’t. Do you think you could sell them again in a heartbeat for what they cost? As has been mentioned on here before, that’s free rent while you give them a try in your own home. If the answer is “yes” it’s a no-brainer. I have never owned Chorus 1s, I have had a couple pairs of Chorus 2s and Cornwalls over the years and still have a pair of KP-301s (pro version of Chorus). I went head to head with the Chorus 2s and KP-301 and wound up keeping the KP-301s when forced to decide which to keep for space constraints. My son and I preferred the ported bass of the KP-301s over the passive radiator Chorus 2s. It’s tricky to describe, but the bass seems more consistent, not prone to over-emphasis? Seemed to result in a little more definition at perhaps the expense of a little low end rumble.

  11. Same here. If I didn’t have La Scala’s, it would be Chorus or Chorus II or the pro version. I’m surprised I chose the La Scala’s over the Chorus II to be honest. There is just something magical about the La Scala’s that I really can’t put in words.

  12. I picked up and held a pair of CHII for someone a few years ago. I would pick them as a speaker to have after my LS. The CH would rate up there for easier placement.

  13. I've owned both at the same time and have done some A+B comparisons. The speakers weren't setup probably in my room for the best bass sound, but I felt like the chorus 1 had more bass. In my option (everyone's tastes are different) the midrange sound from the chorus II was more detailed and laid back. The chorus 1 by comparison seemed more shouty. You probably wouldn't be disappointed with either, but if you had them side by side, you would probably have a preference.

  14. Well, when I had my Chorus II’s they were cranked to 11 most of the time.😁 That is one speaker that sounds better the more watts you put to it.

  15. I too owned Chorus II’s for many years. I’ve only heard the original Chorus once and it was probably 10 years ago. I remember it sounded really good and couldn’t tell much of a difference between the two. I think Chorus speakers are the most underrated in the Klipsch lineup. It was really hard to give up the Chorus II for La Scala’s. That said, you can’t go wrong with either Chorus.

  16. I have two empty boxes I can give you, sized for 15" woofers and the fitted foam inserts plus an outer box they both fit inside. Due to the 19x19x19 size, UPS will charge us/you about as much shipping fee to your US friend as if they were loaded. Might be cheaper for your friend to buy some boxes or hopefully someone local to him can help. What city is he in?

  17. Almost midnight. My teenage son came downstairs and told me he could feel the bass of my music while lying in bed. The volume of my 12wpc Leben Hifi is at 9 o'clock. Anybody telling the Heresies don't have enough bass should come to my home! Go Go Penguin, A Humdrum Star Edit: Is there a server problem? I can't upload a picture. Instead I get a wrong warning about file size

  22. Gday! A forum member here has been kind enough to pick up a pair of K-45 drivers for me and is going to ship them to Australia for me. It’s a big and bumpy trip and I’m trying to give the drivers the best chance of survival, so I was wondering if anyone might have some original shipping boxes for 15” Klipsch pro (or other 15” drivers) with nice thick foam inserts etc that were designed to ship drivers all around the world unscathed….. Of course the other option is tons of bubble wrap etc but thought I would ask here as I have been amazed at how helpful this forum has been so far! If you have a couple of original 15” driver shipping boxes and are happy to ship them empty to another US address (at my cost of course) I’d love to hear from you! cheers from down under!

  25. Very nice, fair price, and trusted member. Good luck with your sale! I have four in similar shape that I’ve picked up from forum members. Wonderful speakers, even though mine are going to be odd men out. I just acquired a sixth pair of KLF and I’m running out of room. Tim Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  26. Some very good ideas there. The house hasn't been designed yet so I can adjust the air gap to whatever it needs to be, whether digging the basement lower or raising the entire house a foot either will work for me. Even though this project is quite extravagant, I am trying to build it with a budget. None of the heritage speakers I've acquired have matching finishes save for a set of Klipschorns and Cornwalls that were sold together, though I don't think the Cornwalls will make it into the home theater anyway. The way I see it is, you shouldn't be able to see the front and rear Klipschorns at the same time anyway so do they really need to match haha? All my speakers are of 1970s vintage (minus a beat up pair of shorthorns. Still don't know what I'm going to do with those, but thought they were cool). I didn't think about mounting the Heresys face down. I would probably mount them slanted facing the seating either suspended or recessed into the air gapped ceiling at an angle. Everything is possible at this point.

  31. Killer, lived in a condo right next to the Daytona AFB and the F-15s, F18s and other fighters could rattle the place sometimes. A group stopped in once when they left they went vertical that am directly above our place. They punched it and the booms were directed straight down! Dog freaked and so did I, never heard anything like that before or since then!

  33. Actually, on the site linked, the Dragon power cable is $5400/each for the 1 meter length and $9800/each for the 2 meter length. If one uses a short regular extension cord on each 1 meter Dragon cable, a person can save a whole lot of money!

  34. Another way would be to run a nut down the threads and tighten it. Then countersink a recess into the piece of wood that sits over the newly installed nut.
