  1. Long story short I just changed from a Samsung Android phone to an iPhone 13. As you may know, the newer iPhones don't have a 3.5mm headphone jack. So, that leaves me with a couple things that I'll probably never use again! First up is a pair of Klipsch R6 Reference on-ear headphones. They are in like new condition. I have the original case for them and I believe I have the original 3.5mm to 1/4" adapter as well. Here's the Klipsch page on them: Klipsch® R6 Reference On Ear Headphones | Klipsch Second up is a Bravo Audio V2 headphone amp. This is a Class A tube headphone amplifier. There are 2 tubes included: a JJ ECC82 and a 12AU7. I purchased this from forum member flatgrass and only used it a couple times for a couple hours maximum. I believe I still have the original box for it. Here's a review of it: Audi Bravo V2 Headphone Amplifier Review - Audiophile Review So, if you are interested in either of these items here's what you need to do: If you are interested in the headphones, take a guess as to the length of the biggest walleye I've ever caught (in inches). I'll take guesses until this Friday August 5th. If someone guesses the exact length correctly before that they'll automatically win right away. Otherwise, it'll be whoever is closest by Friday the 5th. :Congrats to @Shakeydealwho was the first to guess correctly!! If you are interested in the headphone amplifier, take a guess as to how many years my parents have been married. Same rules apply as above. Please only one guess per forum member for one item. I'd rather have two different people "win". I'll pay shipping costs for both items. U.S. addresses only. This forum has been great to me over the years so I thought it would be fun to pay it forward. 👍

  4. Amaze balls??? You've been reading waaaaay too much of my copy in here! That was almost a coffee spit! 😂 You have beaches there surrounding the rock??? That means sharks right? Ummm, no thanks. I'll opt for a quiet lil road trip down to Cairns to see the coral on the shrinking reef tyvm. OR maybe I could be one of those human chess people on the big board around Bondi? Speedos, bear grease, flip flops and mirrored sun glasses??? All for a glimpse of Jennifer Aniston??? I'm sweating here just thinking about her... Mercy! Carry on!!

  6. HK-430 would be my choice for best bang for the buck. I sold one that I wish I would have kept. That said, all the usual suspects sound good with Klipsch Heritage.

  9. Don't agree. My CW III are made from MDF and sound as hollow as a shoebox when you knock on them. ...As do the latest iteration of LaScalas and Klipschorns. Yet these three speakers sound much better to my ears than many speakers I have heard that have enclosures that are as solid as granite. ..Some composite, some aluminum. IMHO, enclosure integrity needs to meet a certain minimum, but beyond that it become superfluous. My Vandersteen 3A sigs and Paradigm S8 V2's felt like bricks when you knocked on them. ..Yet I don't like them nearly as much as my CW's. ..So there's gotta be more to speaker design than just enclosure rigidity.

  10. My latest finished project. This is the second one of these I have built. Greatly enhances the sound when used with a SS amplifier. Not too complicated of a build that rewards with no noise, low distortion and great sound. I like simple circuits with as few parts as necessary. This one is for my own personal use and not to sell. It would have to be dressed up appearance wise to appeal most audiophiles. A wood case to set it in would make it more appealing. I just do not look at it when the music starts playing.

  11. Like I said, they were being built by some employees at home for extra money and it was simply missed during QA. It wasn't "OK" because they caught it and fixed it. As already pointed out, you can see how it shifts the response, which probably increases distortion. It also increases summing errors, which could include phase (I can't remember). There is also a peak in the K-77 that the filter is designed to bring down. Your "tweak" moves the target frequency. K77 Peak.webp

  14. I can’t leave well enough alone… I decided to re-radius one of my strat necks and install some stainless fret wire. I had done a level and crown on this one last year and it had already worn enough to be annoying. A little water and some heat from the soldering iron and the old frets came out without any drama, just like Dan (Erlewine) said they would. Taking the 7.25” radius down to 16” with some 60 grit. I got lucky and was able to get the radius I wanted without sanding through the position markers. Tomorrow I’ll work my way back up through the grits and re-cut the slots to the correct depth for the new stainless fret wire.

  15. Certainly but I'm not able to wax poetically about audio I'll do my best. The other day I want to my local Revel dealer, US Tube Audio in Scottsdale, AZ I was able to listen to the F208, F228Be, and the JBL 4367. I thought I'd share my impressions. F208: Sounded fine to me, good low end, midrange sounded natural, top end was nice, over all nothing special. F228Be: Sounded better to me, less low end but more defined maybe, midrange the same, top end seemed more defined to me. Most likely as a result of the Be tweeter? So, I wasn't super impressed with either, not to point where I was willing to pull out my wallet. I thought it might just be a crappy room. Next up the JBL 4367. From the moment the music started my jaw was on the floor. Everything sounded real, alive, in the room. The acoustic guitars, clarinets vocals, you name it sounded amazing, accurate, and life like. Bass was amazing and tactile. It ran circles around the Revels while still having great tone, clarity and smoothness while at the same time completely natural. Unfortunately, they were out of F328Be and Salon2 so I couldn't compare. Has anyone else experienced this? Is it the horn loaded compression driver that is crossed over at 700 Hz that gives it the life like sound? The high sensitivity? Both? I'm curious but I've got to know at this point as I've got to have speakers that do this, but I can't afford the $16k! The closest thing I've heard this type of experience from was the Forte III. I don't recall the Cornwell IV sounding like this and certainly not the Hersey. Thoughts?

  17. Make sure the connections are snug where your speaker wires connect to the crossovers. If that doesn’t solve it, then swap the speaker wires between the left and the right channels at the back of the receiver. If the problem moves, the receiver has a problem in it. I got my 1967 Khorns 31 years ago due to a problem like this. They were being sold by a little old lady who was on her way to a nursing home. She had a portable CD player connected to an Onkyo receiver, and one of the RCA plugs had an oxidized connection. The first guy that came over to hear them thought that the scratchy sound was a problem with the speakers. He passed on the deal. That was the best $900 I’ve ever spent.

  19. Good choice on the wood screw. A stainless screw would sound too sterile, which a drywall screw is too brittle. Galvanized in rough sounding too. Did you use a course thread softwood screw for a course sound or a fine thread screw for a more refined sound. 😆

  21. Recently, I was a bit surprised to discover the AA Network in the Klipschorn sounds perceptibly better to my ear with a steel screw (not stainless or brass) securing the .245mh inductor. It seems to give a little more energy to the lower treble that to my ear is necessary to that “magic Khorn sound”; with the brass screw it sounds a just a tad “too polite” (again, to my ear). My inductance meter shows .24mh (brass screw) versus .34mh (steel screw). I realize this post is going against the grain, so I was a little hesitant to post. If anyone is interested, the screw is a #8 1.5” steel Phillips pan-head.

  22. Not the 2.4mH inductor in the woofer leg, but rather the .245mH in the tweeter leg of the AA network (notice the decimal). The Type A network does not have an inductor in the tweeter leg because it is a simpler design with less roll off per octave. The .245 inductor is the round thing in the top right corner of the picture BESIDE the 2.4mH inductor. Note the shiny ferrous screw in the middle; that little guy is what changes the inductance depending on whether is a material that is attracted by a magnet (like good ole steel), or not (like brass or stainless steel).

  25. I worked here when I was a teenager... Racing restorations in Long Beach in the early 1970's... when the men were fat and the tires were skinny. this car is so rare, there were less than a handful left at that point. this video is one I found on youtube of the car, probably after it was sold after Jim passed away and rebuilt to a different spec.

  27. Talked to the youngest last night and she was playing golf in Scottsdale when the monsoon hit. hahaha She's hanging around too many good golfers out there but playing free so it's all good. I kinda wanna throw the gauntlet down next time I'm out there but I'm afraid she might whoop me. Prolly smarter to just keep my mouth shut on the long ball and smoke her chippin and puttin. Got any XL sarongs laying around @ your place? Would be a great distraction... 😂 Think it's about time to domesticate myself shortly since I'm outta silverware and don't have any plastic spoons and forks laying around. It's day two of washing one spoon and fork at a time. Better step my game up. WAIT! Maybe not! I've got a couple pounds of sliced turkey in the fridge and a new loaf of bread! I'm golden for a day or two yet!

  29. My comment is in reference to the fastest laps at Goodwood video, where the electric Ford van (!?!) set a very fast lap, not “fast for a van”, faster than many race cars fast. Then some kind of closed single-seater electric race car came out and set the shocking fast new lap record. In racing, speed and power are everything. Sounds are a distant second. In the 1970s, when the Yamaha TZ750s started winning every motorcycle road race, some fans grumbled about the sounds they made, preferring the sounds of the older (and slower) 4-strokes. However, over time, seeing the results made them learn to love the sounds of the big TZs. The same thing will happen to the sounds of the electric cars. As they keep breaking lap records, they’ll come to be seen/heard as the new sound of power.

  30. I'm not sure if I have to make a minimum number of posts or if I have to wait a period of time before I can private message members so I'm posting again to bump up the numbers. The SW was working fine until we had a power outage at the house. It is plugged into a UPS but the power was out for several hours and the UPS battery gave out. I am guessing the power supply since it is not blowing the fuse which to me would indicate a power amp issue. We'll see when I disassemble it and have a look around.

  35. Someone bought a Klipsch AK-3 update kit for those. I doubt that it's a network problem. I think the problem is your Marantz. The best way to know for sure is to use a different receiver.

  37. I have two empty boxes I can give you, sized for 15" woofers and the fitted foam inserts plus an outer box they both fit inside. Due to the 19x19x19 size, UPS will charge us/you about as much shipping fee to your US friend as if they were loaded. Might be cheaper for your friend to buy some boxes or hopefully someone local to him can help. What city is he in?

  38. It is the end of the rod stock that is showing. When I mention "z" level that is the depth that was set wrong so the cut went through instead of only being 1.375" deep. A boo-boo in other words and to make it uniform I cut both the same. Here is one cut right. Say I know you like fancy wood and here is another Ambrosia Curly set.

  41. If you haven't seen "Getaway Driver" on Discovery +, I have a car competing on it... A 1994 Ford Taurus SHO... Which, does very, very well. I even made it onto a clip (guy spraying the champagne). Catch our car on episodes 6, 7, and 8... That may have spoiled it a little. Also, here is video of when I went out to tune the car (nitrous was not used on the TV show):
