  1. OK so here's the deal . A week before the show I got busted for 6 or 7 grams of pot . My parents ; my mom , allowed me to go to the show because I already had tickets and they liked my friends I was going with . So when I get home from the show of course the folks are up and the local news was going hard about the pot smoking and booze being handed out by a performer at the show . My mom was not pleased โ˜ ๏ธ

  3. Molly Hatchet: Saw them a couple of times at small clubs, always a great show. The second time there were more people on stage than in the crowd. I pulled a table onto the dance floor immediately in front of stage. Duane looked pissed when he got on stage and opened the show....

  5. Posted this earlier in youtube spinning so yea, I got the itch. Billion Dollar Babies is the sixth studio album by American rock band Alice Cooper, released on February 25, 1973 by Warner Bros. Records.[1][2] The album became the best selling Alice Cooper record at the time of its release, hit number one on the album charts in both the United States and the United Kingdom, and went on to be certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America.

  6. Well they gave a handle of Jack Daniels to the crowd when I saw them backing up Molly Hatchet in early 1980 , soo I'm thinking they had plenty of stuff to do and partake of on the bus or wherever ๐Ÿ‘

  9. Yea they got messed up more than others I know of first hand besides the Toxic-Twins. Danny Joe Brown fell off the stage and broke his leg when I saw them in CLT at the Crockett's House of Pain!! That was the NWA? wrestling arena where Rick Flair, Mulkey Bros, Andre and everybody else worked. Molly Hatchett Judas Priest UFO was the other show I saw of those Gator Country guys.

  11. Yes. We had a Datsun dealer in Kansas City affiliated with Bob Sharp Racing; you could get the 2 liter engine and 5 speed from a Datsun 2000 installed in your 510 with a racing suspension AND a factory warranty. Once you drove one, you went looking for Alfas, TRs, MGs and BMWs...

  12. Since the Zener, Zener (RED)wires and Bracket show no sign of heat damage I suspect the Woofer Inductor (which I believe these melted wires belong to) of the AA was overheated by an amplifier output shorting out throwing DC rail voltage onto the Woofer/Inductor circuit. Do you know if the woofer was blown in the speaker at some point. I suppose another option was the speaker/network was used at sustained high level SPL/Power levels over time. I would be concerned that the inductor could have damaged windings which could shift the crossover function off spec. miketn

  14. that sounds warm. -------------------------- I had a Datsun 510. I loved that little car. -------------------------- Been "busy the last couple days. Spent the day in bed, yesterday. Was "sick to my stomach". Day before... we had a problem with the refrigerator. Freezer was frozen and fridge was warm. I spent more time trying to explain to my wife how that happens than defrosting the cooling coils. After "resting" all day, yesterday... mowed the lawn and finished the fridge... Pull it out and vac the lower coild, motor and all. I'm gonna pay for this. Spotify was giving me no commercials, so, I spent some time enjoying it on the "big" stereo. I love my LaScalas.

  15. And rocker panels; poor things were rust buckets. And its Pete Brock designed spook (aka front spoiler). The 510 & 240Z would literally become airborne at speed so he created the front lower lip for the cars. $40 in 1970 dollars in black gelcoat as I rrecall. BTW, Pete was also the fellow who came up with side rocker stripes for Mustangs (among other things like stuffing an Olds V8 into a VW combi to haul his bikes)

  21. The days of "Pro Photographers" are just about done I think. I gave it up when I saw kids from Japan showing up en mass on the Ohio State Football sidelines had every piece of Nikon gear they made. Much cheaper in Japan and many of them had parents who worked for Nikon so it was even cheaper/free or dirt cheap. They had the best and newest auto focus gear you could buy. Not me Sherlock, I know when to say when. One of the guys I know jumped in with them and he always had the latest and greatest. Thing was he got told the University didn't need him and they were pulling his passes last year. No explanation other than they were changing things w/the photographers. Even the guys from large papers weren't going to get two passes like they used to. Today the University is providing the majority of the photos released to papers. The kids w/the gear and the OSU/MI game a couple years ago when Braxton Miller the OSU QB got hit in the knee w/someone's gear walking by him just prior to the game. It also gives those Journalism/Photo majors an opportunity to build a resume. Another thing that comes into play is all of us "old guys" shot primarily in Back & White AND WE kept our negatives. An envelope full of pics for the guys workin the parking lot will ALWAYS get you a great parking spot! The Uni wanted the negatives so they could put them into their athletic photo archive so they could sell reprints to the public. Seriously? I was asked many times for my negatives and sat on them. Ha! Today B&W or color w/one stroke on the keyboard. We're done unless you've got 40k to spend. Wedding photos? NP cause uncle Charlie has his cell and is gonna cut your throat after you set the shots up. Practically zero reprints so no money to be made there. Toast! Done! I'd have done yours for free Bill. ๐Ÿ˜‚ ๐Ÿ˜‚ Family rate! ๐Ÿ˜Ž

  22. McIntosh MC2105. I foolishly sold mine last year while I was in the midst of buying madness acquiring McIntosh tube gear(MC30, MC225, MC240, MX110, C11) within a few month period. Figured that was it for solid state, and I had a MC2120 as a spare that I couldn't seem to unload(people don't like vintage ss Mac with those meters). Well, it became clear to me over the last few months that I really wish I hadn't. This amp is special and so seemingly tailored to my listening preferences, and so perfectly matches up to the MX110z(or C11) pre, not to mention arguably one of the best looking amps out there, that it became evident that I needed to reacquire. Search on, and this week a local Bay Area musician(played prominent roles with both Santana, Eddie Money & Chris Isaak) was selling one for a pal of his in financial and health straits. He was able to provide a full(and colorful) history of the amp, and the cleaning up/checking up on it to get it back into shape. It was local, it was selling for a great price(IMO), and he agreed to deliver it. A no brainer. Back here today, looking spiffy, and being used to drive a pair of AR3's. My La Scala's are driven by the MC30's, and that's a combo I ain't planning on changing anytime soon.

  25. Thanks, I honestly did not know where to put this thread and it be alright for those that control this forum. Moderators want peace and to be left alone doing more important things than being a referee on a social media forum. Threads get locked or deleted when individuals get to arguing over who is right on some silly subject with both afraid the other is going to have the last word. Let's not do it here on this thread. Let's all be friends and try and help a beginning teenager or young adult build his first amplifier. That is what we are, friends that disagree sometime. Friends first before being right. At 73 I have made enough enemies in my lifetime. I do not need any more. This amplifier I am building is still spoken for so it may not appear in the For Sale section. A number of builders yesterday gave their opinions of how they would teach their kid where to put the RCA jacks and their reasons. Both ways work just fine and the way they like is surely going to look best when finished. It was just a suggestion of mine that a beginner may want to put the jacks close to the potentiometer. If they choose this way you want to turn the chassis around like in my SET 45 tube amplifier. Put the power supply transformer way back in the chassis along with the PS board I made. You want to keep them as far away as possible from the input of the first stage. A tiny bit of hum that enters the first stage that you can hardly hear is going to be amplified and made a lot worse when it gets to the second stage and out to the speakers. I want more discussions like yesterday on this thread but keep it civil. The more I look at this design of Maynard's the more I like it. Simple with a few parts. There is an ol' boy in California who is getting richer building circuits like this, simple circuits with two stages of amplification using transistors named Nelson Pass. The company is called Firstwatt. I have built, I believe, all of the FW design clones he has made public. The SE versions like this amplifier that I have built sound good, really good. Almost as good as this SET amplifier. ๐Ÿ™‚ Not just this one but most any SET tube amplifier sounds slightly better. Some say what Nelson is trying to do is make a transistor amplifier sound like a tube amplifier. I once asked him on the other forum why he had not designed tube amplifiers. I think the main reason is more money to be made in SS. Larger market as well. He was quick to answer back on the forum "who said I do not own or have not designed tube circuits." I bet he has a SET 300B tube amplifier with those original expensive Western Electric tubes he listens with on occasions. This little amplifier of Maynard's is not one I would recommend for those using other speakers. Those ones that are 85db. Not that they would not sound good on them. My great, great grandfather probably listened to a console radio with a tube circuit much like this one with 1 watt and a 85db speaker. That is if he could afford one of those console radios, those things were expensive back in the day. A 5 watt amplifier back then was a big one. But for anyone with a horn midrange it is going to have more than enough power for most sensible listening individuals. Not going to have that deep strong bass like a mega watt SS amplifier but you will hear good bass with it. It is there. Add a sub and you have all you could want. Most of us that is. Perfect little amplifier for Klipsch speakers. Probably all their speakers even those that are not Heritage. Probably any speaker 95db or better which includes most all if not all of the Klipsch brand. If you want a visual image of me think bald, 20lbs overweight, 73 year old man in coveralls. Kinda like those hillbilly's on the TV show Moonshiners. I live in the flat part of Alabama but we call those folks in north Alabama hillbilly's. They have hills. Much the same though. Here where I live on my street we use the word ya'll. Thank the Lord for spell check or you would see how I am such a poor speller.

People told me he didn't liked to be photographed cause they all wanted those blue eyes of his. Pfffft, just another driver in my book and $50 in my pocket. He won his race that day too so he was in a good mood post race. He drove that thing hard from start to finish as I recall. I slipped up in the tower and checked him out. He didn't back off for anyone. Give that pizza a try! Amazed me cause I thought he was whacked then there it was!

  34. I love everything about the Forte IVs but lately have spent a lot of time listening at very low volume levels. They are very dynamic no matter the volume but the way they scale up and down as volume changes is superb. To me itโ€™s critical that low volume level listening retains all the dynamics of louder volume. Of course cranked they ROCK! They blend incredibly well with my REL s812s and the Primaluna EVO 400 is a great match with them. Synergy!

  36. I am not sure if they are all the same but Linda's Chromebook will not allow you to install third party software. When my desktop got destroyed I was in a panic to test some stuff and tried to install my test software onto it and was baffled why they don't allow this. For me this is a deal breaker but for most people looking to just surf the web and use email then it's probably not a problem. I believe Chromebooks OS is a form of Linux Kernel which is why it's so stable and rare to get a virus.

  38. hey guys, thanks again for the replies. My search has been going on longer than two years at this point. For awhile I was not fully decided between cornwalls and la scala so that wasted time when the market was better. Then the st-70 build along with recapping the heresy pair and getting the rythmik sub kept me occupied for a year or so. I think what puts me to la scala is that I know that even if I had a great pair of cornwalls I would still want the la scala, so better to just try and go straight to what I want. what I am seeing now is that anything around the 2k range has cabinets that are clapped out or have had significant modifications done. what I would like to find is a pair of speakers that have really nice looking cabinets so there is probably an element where I am also going to have to accept that whatever I end up with is not going to be pristine as well. but hopefully 4k budget gets me closer. its tough because I see AL5's going for 8k or less so anything over 4k seems like just going to the AL5 may be the better choice. I'll keep bumping this thread until I end up with a pair so we can all see how the journey goes! I'll end up with something. I posted a wanted ad on craigslist locally yesterday with a 4k price so we'll see if that gets any responses. I will take another closer look at UShip as it seems like you guys are recommending that too. To those who reached out with offers to sell what you have, thank you! and keep them coming!

  41. Yeah; tried a setup with Heresy's up front, tower surrounds and CW's in the back. Room is only 16' wide and the tower horns absolutely were "too much." Switched to dual RC-7's up front and RB-75's in the rear - and "forgot" about side speakers - note; this my TV sound system only So; unless you have a VERY WIDE room, I do not believe it is recommended.
